What's the right group of recruits for this year?

In the USArmy All-American game, Notre Dame has Jaylon Smith, Corey Robinson, Steve Elmer, and John Montelus going, plus possible adds Alex Anzalone and Jordan Sherit. That would be a formidable "recruiting group". Michael Hutchins will be there, but also DeSean Smith, a highly-rated 4* TE. Is the latter your second TE?

p.s. GITF: your mailbox is full, so this is a general thank you note.

I just "happened across" this article on Inside the Irish. This seems like an appropriate place for it to land. This guy Keith does good work.

Recruiting Snapshot: Thirteen and counting | Inside the Irish

That is just a plain creepy coincidence, or is it....

STL ---all im saying is ND must get 2 tes orrr move matuska over from de. But that move isnt a move myself nor the staff would really like to do. Josh Mcneil is a fine option if we can get him up to visit.

I say Two Te as well with what Kelly seems to be leaning towards with this O. Also more dbs are needed ao two more would be a need for sure.

TP, you think we should take 4 wr's this class?

Not TP, but we have two committed, and there are plenty of offers out there. Treadwell is getting renewed interest. Once Chris Brown, Justin Ferguson, and Davonte Neal get to campus, staff will be able to better assess their needs. They'll probably go after a targeted elite few athletes to fill a specific role during the season.

ND need playmakers at WR in a bad way. Toma has proved he can make plays but he has yet to even get consistent PT. TJ is the same way but he just needs to find the fine line of consistency. TJ can make plays and I personally feel is still underrated but yet he has never shown he can break out. He is perfectly fine in his role where he gets 6-8TDs a year but his potential can be so much higher if he finds it. I do feel that with a Golson/Hendrix TJ's game does make a larger impact in the offense. Rees isnt a downfield QB, TJ is a work in space WR. Not a blazer but he isnt a kid that works the sideline or the 6-10yrd routes. He is kid that needs to get downfield or work in space. Davaris is the most athletic WR that the coaching staff has ever coached is the word, but hes never played a down. Goodman is just Goodman. I really don't feel like wasting time on Daniel Smith, although i hope he proves me wrong.

Ferg, CB, Neal all are types of players that arent on NDs roster. all 3 bring certain qualities that ND hasnt had. Ferg can be your sideline, middle field guy. CB can be your downfield guy as well as the slot against LB/S. Neal well is just a kid we havent had in the past other than Golden. And none of the 3 have played a down.

Having too many playmakers is never a bad thing ala usc/oregon/fla....if you get talent, talent will find the field, talent will find the ball, and the ball will find the endzone. Treadwell, LaRue they want to come you take them.

But as of right now I think we need CB/LB/WR/TE/DE for quality depth. Like I stated last night in a few threads Niklas and Collinsworth more than likely wont be here and ND needs to get guys to step this year and next year step up behind them. Depth is important in building a program and that is what Kelly is doing.

TP, I missed what you said about Niklas and Collinsworth. Are you saying out due to injury?

Also do you think the staff will try and snag a NT this year or wait until next?

Niklas is more than likely done with football, is still in Cali right now and will be back I believe next week. Hopefully he gets a chance to play again bc he is a kid that has potential and then potential.

Collinsworth is out for the 2012.

Niklas may be out due to concussions. Collinsworth had shoulder surgery and is very possibly out for the season. We will know more Tuesday.

- Koyack better be hitting the weights and improving his blocking then, he'll need to be on the field alot now.

- Hardy, Shumate, & McDaniel need to step up for Collinsworth, preferably Hardy so him and Collinsworth are ready to start in 2013

I see, I haven't been looking at 2012 commits threads'. Would u happen to know about a 2013 TE who has interest? Looks like McNeil will head to Bama. As OMM said in the Master List could Breneman be the player committed elsewere considering a visit?
