I couldn’t help myself… Pokémon Legends: Arceus jumped the rest of my gaming to-play list. I was too curious about the new gameplay.

So far, I’m about 1.5 hours in and still kind of in the hand-holding stage with tutorials, but loving it anyway. The open-world mechanics aren’t too shabby, and the change to the core gameplay to use Pokémon how you would *actually* use them in real life is fun so far.

I really like the overhaul to research/Pokédex. It’s easy to see how they used Pokémon Go as a jumping-off point for the new direction. Blending those mechanics with some of the original gameboy ideas is a winner. It already feels more satisfying to “research” than it did to just try and catch ‘em all.

Can’t wait to be done with the introductory stuff and get out into the wild.

Everyone talking about this game and saying it's revolutionary and amazing really should have played Monster Hunter. I'm not saying you are claiming those things by the way. I just strongly believe that if you like Pokemon Arceus, you will love Monster Hunter even more.

It's unfortunate that people never got into MH much in the states.

I agree though. I played some at my friend's place the other day and I appreciate the gameplay model. I honestly think they have a winner. It's an MH-lite that is perfect for new people to the genre. The crafting components, the searching for ingredients, and new mons to catch/research. The battling component is less button intensive and strategy base like MH and instead is the simple turn-based system we know and love. It's just an overall easier experience, but the gameplay is much more fun and refreshing. Their next series of games could be amazing if they fine-tune it.

But my GOODNESS they need to give you a bigger bag to collect materials.

I've seen the Monster Hunter comparisons brought up in a few places, so I'll have to check that out now and probably add it to my growing backlog that I never make progress on lol

How do you get updated rosters these days?

I downloaded CFB Revamped, but now I can't connect to the PS3 servers since my PS3 is jailbroken for CFB Revamped, which means I can't get into the EA locker for updated rosters.

Did they find a way to update the rosters with their file downloads?
Had to download the roster onto the flashdrive and upload it onto the PS3 that way.

I have some definite questions with these rosters though as in year 3 of my dynasty Oregon State (A+ overall and on offense and defense) apparently had a better built squad than my ND team. It's probably the difficulty of having several people create the players though -- certain less popular teams may be more favorably rated than they should be and others may not notice until later.

Is there an idiot's guide to doing this? I tried searching at Operation Sports once upon a time, but their thread was broken.

And I think OP squads are a result of over-inflating the surprise teams when they do their mid-season adjustments. Oregon State was better than anyone expected IRL, but giving them a highly rated QB or OL in the game is going to have them overpowered in the Pac12 very quickly in the game lol.

And now for something completely different!

Among the several games I bought this week was one I did no previous research on. Nor had it been collecting dust on my wish list for ages like some of the other titles. I saw this Early Access title called "She Will Punish Them." It was $8 or less on sale. I don't know what it was that drew me to the game, I'm sure there were one or two things I liked...just can't put my finger on it.

So you play as a succubus in an ARPG where you're slaying skeletons, undead draugr, orcs, and other creatures in a bid to dominate the land. Along the way you'll unlock and free other succubuses...succubi...yeah. You can also recruit undead of your own and build a small force to help you annihilate the enemy. You and your army will level as you go, allowing you to unlock some new abilities and upgrade stats. When you're not slaying mass amounts of undead things you can chill around the castle with your fellow succubi and decorate, or customize characters (There's like...a ridiculous amount of sliders for characters), or buy and sell weapons and armor.

LOOT_GORGEOUES_ARMOR_AND_WEAPONS.gif

The combat is surprisingly simple but functional for an early access Indy game. I expected a lot less, but it works well and I ran into very few bugs while playing (I fell through the world once and got stuck in a spot one other time in 15 hours of play). The graphics are pretty good for an indy title too. There's zero, and I mean zero, story to work with at this time, but it's an early access title so that's to be expected. I somehow still managed to get 15 hours of gameplay out of it as I was hooked by the Diablo-esque loot and level style grind. There's a crap ton of weapons and armor to get with various looks to each of them and varying stats, in addition to...ahem...lingerie. Aside from the obvious nudity there's no other mature content outside of the violence.

The enemies in the game max out at level 20, but you can go higher than that if you want. If you keep up with the loot grind you'll be overpowered well before 20. I got to about level 10 before I decided I wanted to speed things up a bit and get to the end, so I hacked the next 10 levels. Early game is a bit slow, takes awhile to start building up cash to afford the good stuff.

Can't really say I recommend this game just yet since it's lacking any kind of plot for the moment, but if you like boobas then have at it. There's a surprising bit to do in game despite the low price and early access status. I'm gonna put an older trailer in the spoiler tags because it's slightly more NSFW than the rest above, won't let me link the newer one with recent enhancements:

Anyone ever do the UFC games?
I forget which UFC star... maybe Max Holloway? said he learned a ton from the UFC video games.

Easy to forget that some of these guys have...at most...one martial discipline they are actually skilled at.

Haven't played the games but if UFC guys vouch for it... maybe good?

Last fighting game I played was Fight Night Round 3.

I assume you used a flash drive to get CFB Revamped on your PS3 in the first place. Check this guy's video for how I did it:

There's a Steam Lunar sale going on for one more day. I've had this game in my Wishlist for awhile. It was early access for a bit I think and was released last August. It's called Mecha Knights: Nightmare. It's an Action Shooter set in an apocalyptic war. You're shooting Chinese/Russian military vehicles in addition to Resident Evil like monsters. Here's the details from the game page:

battle3gif.gif.gif

Overview

In the year 2049 at the peak of the Second Cold War, an all-out conflict between N.A.T.O and the Russia-China alliance is about to break out. In the midst of the tension, an enigmatic incident sends the world into an apocalyptic war. Nightmarish creatures of unknown origin suddenly begin to appear, plunging the world into terror and chaos. A young American pilot, Ethan, is caught in the middle of it all, as untold horrors break out on the surface of the planet. He will have to battle endless hordes of monsters in his Mobile Armor, a powerful customizable Mech.

Single-Player Campaign

See the story through the eyes of an ace pilot. Fight for humanity’s survival through 20 campaign missions, working as a part of the N.A.T.O forces. Be part of large-scale operations, pushing your Mobile Armors to the brink of their capabilities. Choose your Mech and engage hundreds of bizarre creatures in epic battles, gaining weapons, equipment and resources along the way to upgrade and customize your Mech.

Deep Mech Customization

Engage the enemy on your terms! Develop an all-round Mech, built to do everything at once, or specialize it, allowing for devastating long-range barrages of high-velocity guns, or get up close with double-gatling guns. Choose from among a wide variety of mechs and weapons. Customize over 20 elements of your Mobile armour. Equip unique parts such as mine throwers, air support modules or weapon cooling systems.

About the developer

This is a one-man passion-project. Mecha Knights is my attempt to create the Mech game I always wanted to play. I've wanted to combine the elements from games like Armored Core, Front Mission, Earth Defence Force and even Resident Evil, in an apocalyptic war theme that could be seen in anime series such as Muv:Luv and Blue Gender. A game where it's not just you, the player, that is winning the whole war as a one-man army, but rather that you take part in larger operations – where you and your allies fight hundreds of enemies. A game where extensive customization and progression allows you to develop your own Mech, while the game keeps you engaged with the story of the soldiers.

I'm pretty early into the game right now so I can't give a fair estimate of if the game is good or not. I haven't noticed any glaring issues, and the game has a "Very Positive" rating in Steam which is a good sign. The nice thing is the game is just $11.99 on sale right now, so even if you don't like it there's not a big loss to the wallet...the sale is on until noon on 2/3 and then it goes back to $16 which isn't that expensive either. The game definitely feels a lot like Armored Core, which is a series I played the hell out of from the late 90s through 00s. I love customizing killing machines, whether it's mechs, starships, whatever. Played some Front Mission 3 as well, and of course Resident Evil, you can certainly see those influences in the game. Again, obviously haven't touched the game too much yet, but as somebody that enjoys the occasional Mech action game I'm liking this title thus far...and the price sure ain't bad.

Finished this one today after about 25 hours of play. There's still a lot of parts I can go after and a few raids I didn't do, but the campaign is done. This ended up being a pretty nice mech game for the price. Story was decent, the customization was great, and there was a TON of action from a combat perspective. The difficulty level was pretty high too, they don't hold your hand and make it easy. There were a few missions I had to attempt multiple times which required changing strategies and/or loadouts. It definitely felt a lot like the old Armored Core games, but I guess it's similar to the game Earth Defense Force too, which I've never tried. The most difficult mission I faced was one where you're on the back of an aircraft carrier on the sea with limited area to work with while swarms of bug type monsters come at you. I switched to a heat seeking missile build which allowed me to finally complete it, but not before I did a few Raids to obtain upgraded parts. My favorite mission was one in an underground bunker...low light, tight hallways, lots of creepy crawly things, pretty damn spooky.

I'd say this one is definitely worth a play through if you enjoy customizing machines of war and getting into engagements with large hordes of monsters with bullets flying like crazy. It's an impressive game for $15 made by just one guy, and if you can get it on sale more power to you. It looks like he's still adding content too. There's really a ton of customization you can do with your mechs. You've got the head, torso and limbs. You've got weapons for hands and shoulders. You've got secondary components like weapon cooling devices, extra armor add-ons, etc. There's active slots for doing things like calling in additional ammo or using nightvision. There's passive slots for things like additional cooling, generators for extra power, etc. Finally there's upgrades you can spend cash on like extra ammo for missions, additional active/passive slots, additional armor, etc. You can paint the thing with patterns too, very similar to Armored Core in that respect.

I'm going to end up playing that Pacify game next, or the other options are Brigador, Hard Reset Redux, or Pillars of Eternity II which were all added to the backlog during that sale.

Looks interesting, I didn't know anything about it before you mentioned it. With the combat style it reminds me a bit of the old PS2 title The Warriors, but obviously more martial arts and less street fighting.

Here's a trailer if anyone is interested:

I have not. Didn't you say awhile back you had one @Irish#1 ?

I've got an old PlayChoice 10 machine in my garage, but it needs some work. The 1st player joystick is a little loose, still works but it's jinky. It's a fun piece though.

Posting this QU in this thread after a recommendation in another.

Bought an Oculus Quest 2. Looking for game recommendations from those who've played. Ideally want one good "sit and go game" that can be passed around for visitors, say a 30 minute session. Then another "story mode" game where I can save and sink hours upon hours into. Games on my radar:

- Arizona Sunshine
- Resident Evil 4
- Half Life
- Walking Dead: Sinners & Saints

I do not have VR and have no idea if these are available on that particular headset but based on what I've read/ heard, I think for the first question I'd want to buy Beatsaber, and for the second question I'd want to buy Halflife: Alex.

I've played Phasmophobia which is setup for VR, but I don't have VR. It's a fun game even without the headset, so I can't imagine what it would be like with one. It's not expensive either.

I'm gonna buy it on release day because of how excited I am about it...

Then it's gonna sit on my "to-play" pile for at least five months.

I may dip into it right away and see if it just goes straight to the front, ahead of the new Pokemon game that I'm still invested in, or RDR2 which I somehow never played, or Ghost of Tsushima which is right up my alley, or even Valhalla which I played and then put on hold for several other games.

Too many games to play, not enough time.

Read Dead, Ghost and Witcher 3 (just because it's so good it's worth mentioning again) are all recommended. Ghost gets super repetitive after a while but still worth playing

My friend just sent me notice about this game. I have a procedure on Friday and I'll be laid up for at least the weekend, my wife already told me to buy it so I have something to do. I've got too many house projects/kids sports/life things to go too deep down the rabbit hole but I'll start the journey and pick away until this winter when i'll have more time to settle in.

I seriously can't wait. First serious game for me since Witcher 3, which was the first serious game for me since Skyrim. I love the open world games.

Many of the reviews I've read today described putting around 50+ hours in and not feeling close to being done with the game. Also described it as Dark Souls with BOTW level openness and freedom of choice.
