What video game are you playing?

Because EA don't think there's money to be made in a single player game.

Not only is there money to be made for EA, but there are consoles to be sold as well. I'm currently "out" on the upcoming console generation but I'd come in for a sick Star Wars game. Otherwise, I'll probably wait for TES VI.

They could easily add online components to the game just like RDR2 and GTA V. Both of those games had tremendous single-player content. My assumption is this Harry Potter game will have massive single player and online components as well.

I didn't think it was my thing... then I watched their 60-minute gameplay video from like two years ago and instantly became a CD Projekt Red fanboy, despite having never played The Witcher.

Fair enough. Though if you enjoyed The Witcher 3, you ought to be interested just due to the studio behind it.

Will be good for XBox enthusiasts, as their exclusives just improved tremendously. But it'll be bad for everyone else.

Microsoft also acquired Obsidian as part of this sale, which (amusingly) means they're now sister companies with Bethesda. Maybe we'll finally get the sequel to FO: New Vegas everyone has been wishing for?

Well I wonder how this affects ESO. Hopefully it means better development and service. I love the game but ZOS and Bethesda development in that game have been more than lackluster with bugs.

It's always bad news when any production company goes exclusive, still...

Bethesda Studios has basically been incredibly anti-consumer since Skyrim. I'm a HUGE Elder Scrolls fan and my hype level for ES6 was non-existent because of Fallout 4/Fallout 76. With Microsoft's recent "brand" being very pro-gehymer, I will say I'm more willing to give the next Elder Scrolls/Fallout more of a shake than I would have otherwise.

I'm also a huge Elder Scrolls fan and had similar thoughts, but I can't see myself buying an XBox just to play ES6. So I'll have to build a gaming PC for it (which will cost me a considerable amount of marital capital) or miss out on it entirely. Still pretty pessimistic about this.

Yeah its definitely not a sole positive. I want things to be playable everywhere, even if I own the thing needed. Exclusivity is a big negative for the entire industry.

Microsoft is just going to be the money, I doubt they get actively involved in development. They own Obsidian and Bethesda now though, so they should be aces on the RPG front if they manage those pools appropriately.

The money isn't the issue. A PC would require me setting up a battle station in some obscure corner of the house and spending many hours ignoring my wife and kids. The Switch allows me to share a couch with my wife while she watches garbage programming on Bravo, and other types of console are at least easy to put down and keep me in the midst of things.

I think you're overstating how difficult it would be to build a entertainment center PC. Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard, Xbox Gamepad, mid-tier components, plus you don't have to spend any money on a monitor. Plus you can use it as an excuse to introduce your kids into how a computer works.

I recently got my kid a gaming PC. Pretty much preassembled but do get some customizations. Bought it from iBuyPower and got it ordered, shipped and unboxed within three days. Very pleased with it. My kid is starting to make the switch over to PC. It ha a clear panel and RGB lights. Pretty dope if you ask me.

As greyhammer said I was able to show him how things work on the inside. We were able to go through the hardware and he is now also starting to get into file structures and programming language via mods and stuff. I grew up with an atari 2600 and NES. Lol.

I was more referring to the awareness level rather than the money lol. Particularly if you already have a PC and would just be replacing the old one. I'm unmarried so I do not understand the logistics of such an undertaking.

That's fair. The last time I built my own PC off New Egg was 2008. And my wife associates PC-gaming with World of Warcraft and other such unholy time-sinks, so my problem is more rhetorical than monetary or technical.

On the one hand, Bravo programming is her guilty pleasure which gives me leeway to keep gaming. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure her brain gets a little smoother with every episode of Real Housewives...

I have managed to build a mancave for my kid in his room. Its pretty much what I would want but I did it for him. Lol. Reliving my childhood vicariously through him. Apparently my midlife crisis has manifested in a much different way than most middle aged men.

We have limited space in our home so I had to build a lofted bed and he pretty much has a command center underneath it. Complete with a tv on a telescoping arm, PC connected to the tv and a monitor for dual screen action... lol Not sure if a parenting win, or total fail. TBD I guess.
