So Basement level 2 in Luigi's Mansion is like this beastly level from hell in an otherwise fun and not too hard family game. It's so out of place in terms of difficulty. I'm stuck currently lol

Can someone sell me on a Nintendo Switch?

I did not grow up with a Nintendo so outside of Mario Bros and a few others, I'm clueless. I literally know nothing about a switch but heard a couple of ppl mention it lately in a positive way, so curious.

It's the best handheld console ever, so if you fly often or use public transportation, you could get a lot of good use out of it.

Since you don't have any history with Nintendo, the retro games probably won't do much for you; but you might be surprised at how much you enjoy them. I have several buddies who aren't really gamers, but love some of the older titles.

But the biggest reason to pick up a Switch is for the Nintendo-exclusives: Smash Bros, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, etc. They're objectively excellent games, but their best and highest use is playing with your friends, wife and kids. As Aaron mentioned, if you only game alone and are solely interested in more mature titles, then a Switch won't do much for you.

Made me sad reading this,... if Sony had only stood by the Vita and worked the 'console on the go' connection to the ps4 out like they said they would... it wouldn't have been close.

Chalk that up with the Dreamcast (which Sega utterly failed to advertise) as great consoles that could have been...

Switch sounds pretty great. Unfortuantely my wife is disinterested and my daughter is too young to play. So i may sit on it but get it down the road and/or "switch 2" whenever that is.

The Nintendo Switch is absolutely awesome. I hadn't bought a console since 2008, but the Switch is what got me back into it. There are so many great games - Zelda, Smash Bros., Fire Emblem, and the best indie library outside of Steam, and the portability factor makes it second to none.

Very underrated aspect of the Switch, and the one I've enjoyed the most. Being able to buy indie games like Dead Cells, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest, etc. for $10-15 a piece, and then play them next to my wife anywhere in the house, has been amazing.

Sees no mention of Bloodstained.... becomes overwhelmed with a urge to drop kick Whiskey in the face...

OG 150 only.

I respect that.

I'm using a family member's employee discount at Target and picking up a Switch bundle on Black Friday.

Trying to decide if I'm going with Breath of the Wild, Fire Emblem, or Pokemon first.

(I should be done with God of War by then, hopefully)

Sony killed the Vita as soon as they decided not to put real triggers on it. Even with all the other hardware expenses that were tacked on, the decision to make what would be triggers on the console become the fiddly "tap the touch pad on the back" input on the Vita made nearly every remote play game a headache.

Don't buy the Black Friday bundles. They're the old model Switch with the worse battery life.

I think that's what Walmart is doing, but my SIL assures me that I'll be getting the new model doing it through Target (she works there doing tech support during the holidays, so maybe she's doing a 'build it yourself' thing for me).

Got it. Make sure you get yourself a pro controller and two extra joy-cons at a bare minimum.

You should also consider whether you want to go digital or physical on your games. I'd personally go physical whenever you can, as Nintendo can be very finicky with their DRM. Digital is more convenient but it can be a pain in the ass to manage multiple profiles and/or multiple consoles.

Yeah, I do physical. I like the security blanket of having the disk/cartridge/card should a worst-case-scenario happen and I lose access to my digital files.

Didn't they like totally fuck up the game and outrage a bunch of people?

I've been lead to believe that it was mostly superfans upset that they aren't using the national dex, meaning you can't get the whole collection in the new games.

On the flip side, reviews have been mostly good, and say that it's a bummer that you can't catch/import your whole collection, but the gameplay is still great, and looks great on the Switch.

Thus, I want a real human being that I trust to give me a legit opinion, not fueled by a potential feaux-outrage crowd OR a review from IGN that Gamefreak likely paid for.

is this the case with the PS4 black friday bundle?

I havent owned a PS since the original. I have finally had it with the fact that there are no good baseball games on xbox, and as a sucker for my fandom, Javy Baez being on the cover of MLB the Show 20. I am thinking I am finally jumping back in.

I figured the bundle coming with God Of War was just an added bonus.

I’ll be interested to hear the learning curve with the show. To really enjoy it you need to play on the harder levels but that’s not something you just up and do. Hit me up if you get it.

so whats the best way to go about increasing your skills. I am a big NHL guy on xbox and the fastest way I got skilled was the create a player campaigns.

Would you say the same thing applies in The Show? or just playing vs online?

It depends on what the bundle says. I'm pretty sure there's a God of War bundle that comes with the newer PS4 Slim version, which has more space and is quieter than the OG PS4.

I think there's also a God of War bundle that comes with PS4 Pro, which will give you 4K gaming.

Either way, you're getting a better console than what you would get with a release-day PS4.

So trash that you need the Pro to get 4K.

As a representative of the poors, it's okay for those of us who haven't dropped the cash for a 4K tv yet lol.

Maybe if there's a good enough Black Friday deal this year, but I'm not impressed by the prices on the name brand deals that I've seen.

4K is a scam anyway.

HDR on the other hand, is very real.

most of the deals im seeing are for PS4 Slim 1TB with 3 games: $199 Includes Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War and The Last of Us

or I can get the PS4Pro with extra controller for 300 via Rakuten (no games included)

4K is real for video content.

HDR breaks Red Dead.

Unless you have insane vision or sit incredibly close to your TV, I don't see how 4K could make a difference. Most people who think that their minds are blown by the resolution when they upgrade a TV are really just noticing the detailed colors and deep blacks that HDR creates.

Edit: Obviously what I'm saying doesn't apply to computer monitors since those are so close to your face.
