Do you eat nails for breakfast?

Lol nah, it's just what i'm doing to keep my subsequent playthrough interesting. I like the core gameplay of sekiro, there's just no build variety like the other souls games; so I cant respec and play a completely different way like I normally would.

From what I've seen of the game (watched a bunch of streamed speed runs), Sekiro's combat is much more finely tuned than the Souls games, which necessarily limits their ability to add build diversity.

I hope the story and the lore are pretty cool, because that gameplay looked kind of meh to me. Not much challenge in navigation, and enemies looked really generic in terms of combat AI.

I’ll deal with it if they promise me I can platform through some Sith temples and learn some cool stuff about the early days of the rebellion.

Nothing notable except the SW license and it doesn't appear they are using that it it's full potential right now. Also no dismemberment of stormtroopers is lame. Seeing a lightsaber go straight through a guy's midsection and having him fall down with a burn mark on his armor is anticlimactic.

Uncharted with a Star Wars skin, kind of like ‘Battlefield: Star Wars’

(I had a lot of fun with Battlefront, but it really was just Battlefield with a Star Wars license. Could have been so much more.)

Been playing the newest assassin's creed and just can't get into it. Weak story and game play mechanics are lacking.

The main story is weak and kind of jumps around, but it gets better when you start really getting into the “Cult of Kosmos” stuff. Hunting down cultists was probably my favorite aspect of the gameplay.

I wasn’t very familiar with full RPG’s, so I don’t have much reference for the mechanics, but it got better for me once I settled on a specific build and matched my skill wheel to fit. I was trying to mix-and-match between warrior and assassin skills, but got more comfortable once I committed to a full assassin build.

I was surprised by how weak that press conference felt. I might get Xbox Pass on PC though. I'm glad Microsoft is starting to really lean into PC gaming too.

I imagine it's pretty east for them to push harder since Box and PC use the same operating syste.

Got a brand-new copy of RDR2 via Facebook Marketplace for $20 last night.

When a game has an installation disc AND a gameplay disc... that's when you know it's good.

Did any of you guys experience install issues with RDR2?

The data disc installed fine, I switched to the game disc as instructed, then it downloaded about 50% of the remaining install data, then just stopped itself. Install progress tracker went away, and the game shows with a “pause” symbol on the home screen.

Really wanted to ride some horses and shoot some fools tonight.

Any scratches on the disc?

Not at all. My internet connection has been slower than usual because of bad weather, so I’m wondering if it’s timing out at a certain part of the download in response to slow download speed.

I know you guys are all my very-close, very-good friends, and are likely waiting on the edge of your seats for an update on my issue, so I thought I'd let you know that I got RDR2 to download properly.

I guess the first time I tried to download it, my internet went down at some point and corrupted the download file or something. I deleted the download file and the game data, shut down my PS4 and defragged it, then retried. Worked like a charm. Just frustrating to wait for my slow internet to retry the download over the course of 4+ hours.

Video game blue balls. Bummer.

Happened to me back in the day with the most recent NCAA football game that came out. I preordered and planned on picking up at the midnight release. Put in for an off day at work for the next day so I could play all night.

Got there to find that my preferred location hadn’t sold enough preorder copies, so they weren’t doing a midnight release. They left a note on the door for the few of us that showed up lol.

One of the biggest perks of modern gaming: preloading a digital game before release and having it ready to play at 12:00:00 without leaving your house.

I haven’t gone this route with anything yet... how do preloads handle day-one patches?

You didn’t have to worry about getting home and putting NCAA14 in your PS3 only to find that it needed three hours to install a 2.6 GB patch to fix all the pre-release issues they found lol.

Finally ended 3 plus years of buildup and hype to Bloodstained last night... played about twenty minutes before bed. So far it's everything I hoped it would be... amazing game.

I am taking my sweet time with chapter one of RDR2.

I currently have the game paused and the PS4 in sleep mode as I'm heading out to rob a train that the O'Driscolls had originally planned on robbing.

Got into a huge gun fight with the O'Driscoll gange just before that, which was cool, but I could tell the training wheels are on right now. I was under cover and just picking guys off with head shots, and it felt a bit too easy. Shooting a deer with the bow from distance was much harder lol.

Watched a trailer for that yesterday and immediately thought of you. The ultimate Metroidvania.

Chapter 1 is basically an extended tutorial. So by all means lean into the pace and enjoy the story, but don't feel like you have to replay a mission if it didn't come off perfectly. As you've intuited, the training wheels really are on here, as many important game mechanics don't even unlock until later.

Also, my wife will be taking the kids to visit an ailing relative in the Midwest for 11 days(!) soon. I can't afford to spend that long away from the office, so I'll be staying behind. This will be the longest stretch of temporary bachelorhood for me since 12-13 years ago. Debating which game to buy to fill the hours, and you'll be pleased to hear that AC: Odyssey is at the top of the list. Dishonored 2 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 are the other contenders.

You will likely be underwhelmed by the game as an RPG, considering your extensive experience with the Witcher 3. I still encourage you to go with it, because it's a wonderful setting with a pretty good combat system. The game is beautiful, too, and every inch is available for exploration. The first time you sail on your ship, there is a moment of "awe" at the way they captured the deep blues and sunny skies of the Mediterranean.

And once you've mastered the gameplay mechanics, it's fun to try and devise the proper armor and equipment sets to match your preferred playstyle. Maxing Hunter, Warrior, or Assassin damage is a fun challenge, especially when you account for armor/weapon engravings that provide perks. I go with an Assassin Damage build and play for stealth. I've used engravings to maximize my critical hit chance and damage, which makes it more rewarding to sneak around and dispatch high-level enemies with single stealth attacks.
