I just find buying a Xbox one x for $500 pointless when you can build a native 4k gaming PC for the same price.

Lol no. Most "entry level" PC builds start around $750.

I'm surprised more people aren't getting savvy to what Microsoft is doing here. They're merging the Xbox and the PC into one platform.

Lots of people LIKE console gaming. I understand all of the benefits of PC gaming but at the end of the day, I want to game in my living room on my couch on a 50 inch TV with a controller in my hands. I have no desire to lock myself in the office and sit in a swivel chair in front of a computer monitor with a mouse and keyboard.

You're living in '97. Everything you can do on a console you can do on a PC, but better. You can hook your desktop/laptop up to your big screen, I do it on occasion. You can plug a regular controller into your PC, or a driving wheel, or whatever peripheral you want basically. You can mod games on PC (And don't give me the junk that consoles can do that now too because of Fallout/Skyrim. Consoles don't get even 1/4 of the mods PC players can do). Multiplayer/online gaming is better from a PC, the communities I'm a part of on both are much stronger on PC compared to console with the exception of GTA V probably...but that game is also 4 years old.

I have a PS4, and I play it on Tuesday nights when I go to my buddy's house, but to be honest I probably wouldn't be on it much at all if he would cave and buy a PC. It's funny, because he lists the same reasons why he won't get one: doesn't want to play in front of a monitor, and doesn't understand how you do FPS with a mouse and keyboard. Most shooters play so much easier with a mouse and keyboard imo. As far as action games go, like Witcher, I just plug my Logitech controller in that is setup exactly like a PS3 controller. Win/win.

Depends on where you're starting from. It's easy to build a PC, and if you know what you're doing you can get last year's parts relatively cheap and put together a very good rig. Hell, if you even have an older desktop /w monitor you can save money there by reusing some parts like the case. $500 is very doable, I've put together fairly high end rigs at that price by just reusing a couple things. You can get cases and monitors for cheap if you know where to go too.

I understand how mouse-and-keyboard work. FPS simply feels better with a joystick and trigger. I know it's less precise and slower, but when everyone you're playing against is using the same controller, it all balances out. If I were single and lived in a shitty apartment, I might have a gaming PC. But that shit doesn't belong in an adult's house IMO. It's a "rig," as you described it, and the amount of space you need for a full range of motion for competitive FPS requires special furniture beyond the cost of the PC itself. I don't want a gaming lair, I want a living room. My computer belongs in my office, not my living room.

As far as mods go, I don't have time for that shit. The only mod I've ever been remotely interested in is the KOTOR 2 Restored Content Mod, but I don't have the time or the patience to mess with that. Off the shelf software more than meets my needs.

I agree. I like the sit down and play aspect of a console. I don't want to spend the time trying to install games/optimizing games etc. I already have an Xbox One S and plan on trading it in to get an Xbox One X. I'm sure Gamestop will be running some sort of trade in deal when the Xbox One X gets released, so I figure I'll be able to pick one up for about $350.

How does it not balance out when just about everyone is using mouse and keyboard on PC? FPS is often sad on consoles because many of them resort to auto-aim or some form of it because joysticks are so slow and impractical for an FPS.

If you want to know why you don't see many FPS games linking PC and console players on the same battlefield, it's because console players would cry and get destroyed. They lack the skill to compete because they're limited to a controller only and often are forced to use the auto-aim to make it work. At least with PC you can use controller or mouse/keyboard, which ever one pleases you:

PC gamers 'destroyed' console gamers in tests, says Voodoo PC founder | GamesRadar+
article said:
During the testing, extremely talented console gamers were pitted against "mediocre" PC gamers in what appears to be some type of shooter. The Xbox gamers used their 360 controllers and the PC gamers used the traditional mouse/keyboard combo. The results?

"The console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative."

If I were single and lived in a shitty apartment, I might have a gaming PC. But that shit doesn't belong in an adult's house IMO.

More like consoles are for the poors. You can make a gaming capable PC for a decent price, or if you're an adult with cash you can make a ridiculously overpowered rig that can run games with enhanced graphics settings that consoles could only dream of...or, like with MMOs, you can run multiple instances of the same client at once if you're looking for an extra challenge. You're also not completely limited in functionality with a PC like you are with a console. Yeah, you can watch movies and listen to music on an X-Box or PS4, but a PC allows you to tweak audio levels and video settings that a console just can't touch...not to mention the fact you can burn your own media, do real video/audio editing, download files faster through peer sharing...etc. Consoles hold your hand through most of the functions they provide, and you're completely locked down in how you use those functions. There's just about nothing that a console does that a PC doesn't do better, and there's a near infinite list of functions the PC can perform that the console can't do.

Bottom line: consoles lock down your options and hold your hand so the kiddies don't get lost or touch something they shouldn't. PC gives you options to make any changes you want because it's made for adults.

It's a "rig," as you described it, and the amount of space you need for a full range of motion for competitive FPS requires special furniture beyond the cost of the PC itself. I don't want a gaming lair, I want a living room. My computer belongs in my office, not my living room.

What are you even talking about with this full range of motion deal? Do you swing your arms around like you're playing Wii Tennis...except you're playing an FPS? How much room do you need to play a video game? You don't need special furniture to enjoy the game. Your computer doesn't have to belong in the office, it can belong anywhere. This whole paragraph above makes no sense.

In case you needed further reasons why PC trumps consoles, see below. Lets not forget that there are 1.8 billion gamers in the world, and 1.2 billion of them are PC:

A lot of games will auto-detect the best settings for your current computer, you're not spending much time, if any, to optimize. As far as the time to install a game, that argument is moot. An SSD drive in a PC will destroy install AND loading times against a PS4 or Xbox. Downloads can be quicker too if the client you're using has any kind of peer sharing involved.

Both are cool. Consoles, computers, whatever floats your boat. Gaming is gaming, don't care how you do it.

I'm a 26-year-old man and I play Pokemon on a 3DS when I'm not on my PS3/PS4. I can't say anything about this console or that console in a critical sense.

Side-note: I will say, that in terms of FPS, I think computer gaming is kind of a cheese by nature, though I assure you that I don't mean that critically, because there are plenty of other challenges to playing shooters on CPU... but point-and-click-to-shoot eliminates all of the challenge and fun for me that joysticks provide. The inaccuracy, challenge, and experience required to actually master the mechanics is more close to the idea of mastering a weapon in real life than pointing and clicking with a mouse.

When you are good enough at CoD:MW2 on a console that you can zoom and run off headshots while at a sprint, and can make other human beings look dumb and incapable in general, that's a good feeling... you know you've mastered something that is very difficult to do. I just don't know if point-and-click would provide me with the same sense of accomplishment.

On the slip-side, I've always found the navigation of a keyboard in accessing movement and functions is a greater challenge than what you get on a console. So, a CPU FPS gamer might say the advantages/disadvantages are a wash. And that's cool.

It has nothing to do with skill level, it's about the piece of plastic that's in your hands. Michael Schumacher racing Mario Andretti isn't going to be a fair race if one of them is in a Ferrari 812 and the other one is in a Ford Fiesta. If they're both in a Ford Fiesta, it's a fair race. If they're both in a Ferrari, fair race. But you can't mix and match the two.

EA rep hinted during their presentation of BFII that the game will be playable "for years to come" because of all DLC being free and open to everyone.

Perhaps that means the open-world/story games we have been waiting for on finally on their way, starting next year.

Also, my god does the battle at Naboo in this trailer look beautiful:

Also, Anthem looks dope. Like Destiny, but with your own customizable Iron Man suits, and an environment kind of like Horizon Zero Dawn.

Shooters like Halo are better on console...but thats about it. "Nintendo" and sports games as well. Every other game is better on PC. Not even close or a matter of opinion tbh.

SMH, you're missing the point. I know that PC is "better." I don't care. The ways in which it is better are things I don't care about and the parts that are neither better nor worse, i.e. just "different," I prefer the console configuration.

Ok, so the fact that AC Origins is now confirmed to be set in 49BCE Eygpt. I am jumping for joy because this means that the rumored Ancient Roman game has a small chance of actually coming true. Give me that ancient Roman empire game I have always wanted Ubi!!!!

The Assassins were the ones that took Julius Caesar out, so it would make sense to hear that story.

It was teased via the Brutus armor in AC Brotherhood.

Bunch of FIFA news over the weekend.... nothing, not one peep, on career mode... real talk. I'm not buying FIFA this year if CM is not improved, I still have last year's game and will just continue with that one.

Well if this is in 49BCE, all it takes is a quick boat ride accross the Med and they can take out Caesar in 44BCE.

Anyone planning on watching Ubisoft? I can't do it. I cannot stand watching Aisha Tyler attempt to be funny. It's cringe to the nth degree.
