Here it is. I think it's a pretty great critique:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lZcX_ZdlW3Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The part beginning at 9:55 best describes what I was getting at, thanks. There were a few parts in the video I didn't agree with, but overall I think it was pretty spot on. I mean...I love boobs.

I watched my best man play one of these games a couple years back and it looked amazing... then he died and got all pissed off which was odd because he is not the type to get too worked up... he then explained that he basically had to start everything over again, I was like, "Start that level/quest from the start?"... he was like, 'No dude, everything.'

I decided then and there that these games are prob awesome but I simply didn't have the time or drive to dedicate to a game like that.

I'm just starting to get into Dark Souls, as previously mentioned. It can be rough when you die, but I've been trying to alleviate that by saving often and spending my souls whenever I can so I don't end up losing much. Losing humanity can be a real pain though, especially when facing a tough boss and you can only summon NPC help as a human as oppose to undead/hollow. Overall I'm enjoying the game, I think it's worth a play through.

picking a firm top five is too hard...

I love(d):

NCAA series
MLB The Show
FIFA
Dragon Warrior on NES
Tecmo Bowls on NES
Ken Griffey Baseball (both of them)
Castlevania series (especially the NES ones, Super and SotN)
Pilotwings
Skyrim
Dead Rising (although some of the human bosses were almost game breaking)
Contra
Punch Out
GTA series

Castlevania brings me to why I hate God of War games... I only played a small portion of them ever, and that's fine, not really for me but I can see the draw... but they got so popular that the dumb boss battle stuff of action sequences where you just hit a button at the right time to continue the sequence that is already done for you bled over into the Castlevania games and was a big part of ruining them...

The God of Vania games sucked ass... and I'm bitter and petty... screw God of War for ruining one of my favs. ;)

I didn't even include sports games...but here

MVP baseball 05
NCAA football 06
NHL 95
Fight Night Champion
Tiger Woods (really all of them)
Madden (of course..can't pick a year)

I am a big COD fan but am willing to give BF a chance due to COD's trend of becoming lamely futuristic.

I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping that CoD is almost obligated to go back to historical warfare with one of their next two releases... if they keep going the way they're going, it's going to be Star Wars. Unless, of course, that is their grand-master plan, to fold into the Disney/Star Wars franchise.

Having said that, I'm gonna grab Battlefield 1 at Black Friday I think. Never played the Battlefield games, as I was a loyal CoD guy up to the first Black Ops. But, since Battlefield is the first to go back to historical warfare on the new gen, and since I haven't played any CoD's since MW3, Battlefield has temporarily earned my loyalty.

If I don't like it, and CoD actually steps back in time again, I'll give them another whirl.

From what I've seen it's amazing, I've heard nothing but good stuff (the difficulty isn't a negative) but I have to be pretty selective these days, I can't play every game I want to... I think it's fair to say I look for reasons to take a game off the list.

CoD needs desperately to go back to a Normandy to Berlin style WW2 game... do it big and do it right... I think that market was seriously over saturated at one point, but now it's just the opposite. I'd be all in.

Agree I think his best point is how GTA essentially makes stereotypical/racist/women jokes but hides it behind a guise of "oh we're making fun of the racists" but since they never actually say anything, they are just making those jokes themselves. It's bad writing, which is a shame because I think Rockstar are one of the few developers to have the potential to get writing/gameplay/world all at A+ levels.

And like an idiot I forget Red Dead... Mario Kart Wii would be up there for me too, just on the amount of good family gaming it's given myself, my wife and my girls... that's our family game.

YES.

I was just discussing this with a co-worker. The Futuristic shooters bore me and the advanced weapons just seem recycled at this point.

Plus...there is no greater joy than killin Nazis!

It's crazy what happened to that market... back at the height of the PS2 gen, there was some WW2 shooter like every six months it seemed like... then they just completely went away... Modern Warfare maybe???

Anyway, I'm super close to buying Mafia 3 (seems like my bag for sure) but again, I talk myself out of buying games some times and with Mafia I keep telling myself, "You won't finish it, you got no time for a game like that brah"...

I beat MAFIA 2 in like 15 hours. Hopefully they beefed this one up.

Nope. COD is so much smoother in the single player.

I don't play much online now. I'm too old and I get destroyed by all the young go-hards. So I'm all about single player.

Battlefields single player is awful.

ha, I can make time for family friendly or sports games... but I got a 13 year old and 4 year old running around... for games like GTA or Mafia I can basically only play when they're alseep... parenting.

Speaking of WaW, that would be my favorite all-time game if the multiplayer would have been a little better.

Perfect time period, perfect story mode, perfect Nazi Zombies... but the multiplayer maps sucked super hard.

MW2 perfected online play. The perk system was nicely balanced for allowing for various play styles, but also for countering each other based on play styles. The weapon upgrade system was the perfect amount of "grind," and offered a nice goal system aside from "best K:D possible," as it basically forced you into competency with each weapon and accessory, but you didn't have to spend too long on something that you didn't like (could never stand an ACOG scope on any gun).

Plus, the killstreak system will never be improved upon. Leaving that 25-kill goal on the table was my soul reason for playing, but I never did get that tactical nuke.... it was exhilarating to get to 11 and unlock that AC-130, hoping you were at the right map to fully capitalize on the streak.

Ahh yes. I forget people do that for shooters sometimes.

WaW and Cod4 had good campaigns.

I enjoyed the Black Ops 1 & 2... each Modern Warfare and basically all of the WW2 shooters:

The Brothers in Arms Games
Numerous CoD games
Medal of Honor

Hell even going back to Duke Nukem I enjoyed the offline modes... on that note though, has anyone here played Duke Nukem lately, or the OG Call of Duty??

It's amazing how basic they are combat wise, I guess the engine couldn't handle more than a few enemies at once.

Ha, I got it a few times (again offline split screen)... it ended the entire level if memory serves...

I've carved out a nice little hour from about 7:15 to 8:15 after my daughter is in bed and my wife is in the shower. It's not a ton, but it scratches the itch.

And you got no time for sleep when you're mowing down Nazis.

I don't get home until around 8pm. Kids live with their mom Mon-Thurs. I have them all weekend.

So its easier for me, for sure

The online micro-tran stuff is absolutely destroying the quality of the sports game market,... i know that much... food for thought on RD2

Why I'm worried about Red Dead 2

NBA 2K has ruined its career mode. It's such an impenetrable grind and it's so obvious that it's designed to be frustrating to lead you to spend money on the in-game currency.

Totally random thought, because GTA V played with first-person mode what if:

(1) Red dead has a first person mode;

(2) That first person mode takes advantage of PSVR.

If PlayStation is committed to the VR thing, THAT would move units.

FIFA has grown so stagnant with their career mode yet every year to do amazing stuff with their online modes that generate currency and such... oh well.

I don't know much on PSVR, not going to lie.
