Sorry. It was just a broad question. If you get a game and don’t know much about it, are they usually easy enough to figure out? Being out of gaming for so long, I have this fear that I’ll spend money on a PS5, get a couple games, and realize they’re too hard or too involved for me to figure out. I feel old. Haha
Despite their size and scope, most games still ease you in with tutorial levels, or small starter “areas” that show you the ropes.

Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the biggest and most detailed games ever, starts you with a prologue chapter that moves at a snails pace while it teaches you all the mechanics of the game. Most people complain that it’s too slow and holds your hand too much before the game really opens up.

Assassin Creed games usually start with a fight in a small area or territory, so it teaches you the combat mechanics and world exploration mechanics without overwhelming you.

A game like Grand Theft Auto will literally show you button prompts for everything until you know enough to ignore them.

You’ll be good lol.

Not to mention manuals are no longer needed even for the most difficult games. Get stuck? Pull out your phone, google, “oh duh, that’s what I’m supposed to do”.

Apologies in advance for the extremely novice question, but with some of these games, how do you know what to do or what the mission is? Keep in mind, my gaming experience is limited to games like Turok or even old school Zelda where I had to basically buy manuals to figure out what to do and how to beat the levels. Am I in way over my head with these new age games that have insanely expansive worlds?

The nice thing about newer RPGs is they're much better about utilizing maps and waypoints/markers for finding locations. You're not fumbling in the dark quite as much like the old days, which can be both good and bad depending on if you're more of an explorer type. Often times there's a very blatant arrow that leads you to your next quest objective. It depends on the game though. If you're curious about a particular game definitely let us know and I'm sure one of us can let you know how it plays.

I still need to finish the first one. It's kinda funny that they got so much flack for revamping a beautiful game that isn't that old to begin with. I say they can do what they want, especially if people are going to buy it anyway.

Can’t wait for the rest of Final fantasy remake
Speaking of games with revamped graphics...would have preferred they didn't cram so much fluff into the Remake, in addition to screwing with the story, and caving to ADHD Gen Z'ers with their button mashing combat. When they talked about adding in storylines they wanted to do in the original I wasn't expecting cat fetch quests and putting flowers on nameless graves. Just felt so unnecessary, I would have rather they got some more of the actual story done than filling it with a bunch of useless fluff. Just feels like Squeenix is milking the nostalgia and the fans for extra cash breaking it up into possibly 4-5 segments. At this point I'm just going to wait for a "Complete Collection" to get released 8-10 years from now.

Yes there was a lot of filler content but the new approach their taking is super exciting. I also kind of enjoyed the combat they basically added some jrpg concepts to ff15 combat style

It would have been fine if they just gave us a true turn based option that wasn't tied to Easy difficulty, but they gave us some half-assed attempt and didn't let you use it on Hard mode. Felt like a slap in the face to long time fans that have waited 20+ years for an updated FF7.

A little off topic but hbo released the trailer for the last of us today, looks likes it’s going to be super faithful to the game.

Knowing Indiana is the open wheeled racing capital of the world and the big footprint of sprint car racing in the state, there is a new Sprint car/ dirt track racing game that came out today. Anyone that follows racing games it is the first iRacing game developed for consoles. I’m really looking forward to playing it today as sprint cars are a close second favorite obsession behind ND football.

I play warzone still probably like 3-4 nights a week. Great way to catch up with my old college buds, and Rebirth Island is genuinely a great time. The traditional battle royale map they currently have Caldera is horrendous though.

No that was Verdansk. That map was incredible... so they took it out. Caldera is a world war ii style Pacific island. Good idea in theory but they did a poor job with it.
Gotcha. That sucks. I haven’t done warzone on WW2

Everyone was done and tired of Verdansk and wanted something new. Wasn't until months later that everyone started to pretend they LOVED Verdansk

Still haven't pulled the trigger on a third party PS5. Signed up for stock alerts from @supplyninja Twitter, among a few others. Walmart had some and they were gone within minutes. Sam's Club got some but it was a large bundle. I didn't want to pay extra for a bunch of extra stuff...Anyways, hopefully something because available soon.

How are games like Mortal Kombat, Tony Hawk, F1 22, etc? I see there's a Bond 007 game coming out some time? These are all the style of games I grew up playing, along with Tiger Woods PGA and NBA 2K.

Also, how are the kids games? Are there any must-haves for 5-7 year olds? I see there's a Disney Dreamlight Valley game that people like but idk anything about it.

i just bought a ps5 about a month ago online from walmart for a little ovet $670 counting tax. didn't want to pay that much but only them and people on ebay have them as best and other retailers who advertise cheaper prices are always sold out. haven't tried F1 yet but if you've ever played and liked the racing game gran turismo then you'll love it on ps5 because the graphics are so amazing that a buddy of mine almost couldn't tell that it wasn't real. mine came with a hot selling game called horizon forbidden west and the graphics blow you away. best part about the ps5 is the instant game response mode where games load up within a few seconds or so instead of having to sometimes wait for several minutes to start playing a game you clicked onto or inserted into the console
