Just played through Mega Man X on SNES. Such an amazing game but that final boss is insane. Quite a few Star Wars ripoffs, like the main villain weilding a lightsaber and his sidekick who looks exactly like Boba Fett.

Ashes of Ariandel DLC for Dark Souls III. Not bad, but not the best DLC either. Have big hopes for the second expansion, though.

Don't know if you've played them, but the PS1 Mega Man X games are pretty good. I enjoyed being able to build up both X and Zero, and then switching between both characters. I think you could switch between X and Zero in 2 and 3, but it may have been limited and you couldn't build Zero up.

There's a PSN flash sale going on now. Thoughts on FFXV for $40? I'd be playing on a standard PS4.

anyone playing Battlefield 1 on PS4? If so, let me know!

I got it for Christmas, but haven't cracked it open yet. I'm currently sucked back into the world of Assassin's Creed via the Ezio Collection for PS4. However, if you want to send me a friend request, my gamertag should be theIrishLion10.

We can squad up once I get into it and figure out what I'm doing haha

It's the games systems of calculation for damage. Almost every game uses a percentage based system. So if someone hits you with 50 damage and you have 50 damage reduction your hp goes down by 25. Dragons Dogma doesn't do this, and instead opts for a game where the points are literal. So if someone hits you with 50 damage and you have 50 damage reduction no damage is taken at all except on crits. In my opinion that is a horrible system. For my end game it turned most major enemies into a huge grind because they have insanely high damage reduction.

I'm done with my first play through now. Overall that Bitterblack DLC was hell at first, but over the last few weeks I've been doing regular Daimon runs to finish out the last quest I needed to complete (Trappings of Evil). My characters are ridiculously geared now, outside of Bitterblack nothing really touches me. I never really had much trouble with the regular questing in Dragon's Dogma, so I get the impression either you rushed the main story, or I took a really long time getting to it (opting for sidequests/monster hunting), or a little of both. I understand where you were coming from in the calculations. I've had similar thoughts sometimes in Fallout as it pertains to Perks that mitigate damage differently with either Damage Reduction or Damage Resistance. On the other hand, I think if you're taking your time in DD to explore, do the sidequests, and occasionally go out and hunt for monster parts for upgrading gear then you're probably not going to have any issues with difficulty. It seems like the game focuses a lot on Enhancing gear to make sure you're up to par in fights, especially since unenhanced gear is often on par or can be far below Enhanced stuff. I did enjoy maxing out armor sets though, and hunting for the materials to make it happen. There's just something cool about dragon hunting, climbing on the back of a wyvern, and gashing it's weak spot with your dagger repeatedly till it came crashing to the ground...and then looting the corpse for Enhancement materials.

I'm going to keep playing the game in the future, but I bought a couple more games in the Winter Steam sale and plan on checking those out. Been wanting to try the old X3 space games for some time and see how they stack up as a space sim. I'm also kind of interested in this game I've been seeing called My Summer Car, haven't bought it yet. It's getting very good reviews, and part of me wants to check it out...just not sure how long I'll end up getting into it and what the end game is. In any case, the trailers crack me up:

Definitely staying up to watch. Not sure about it, but the effect this presentation is going to have on the future of gaming has the potential to be huge. If this flops Nintendo may end up going the way of Sega and getting out of the console business.

Has anyone played Stardew Valley? I might get it when it comes out on consoles.

I went crazy on Stardew Valley for a bit. It's a fun little game. Apparently its been updated and has a bunch more stuff now so I may need to pick it back up.

The cool thing about that game is that there is SO MUCH to do. At first it's like "oh ok so you farm" but things just keep growing from there until you are doing things you genuinely didn't see coming.

I'm excited for tomorrow's Treehouse. I'm going to do a Facebook live video and really nerd it up. I'm bored, so I'm going to get drunk and watch the presentation tonight.

Just drank my last Bent Paddle Cold Press Black that I got from Duluth. Personally, it's my favorite beer. If you're into coffee stouts, you'll love it. Now, I've switched to Yeungling.

On a side note, Yeungling announced they are now in Indiana today!

Tallahassee, I've never been to Indiana. Unless there is some kind of crazy circumstance, I only want to live in Tallahasse FL or Duluth MN. I still need to see a ND game at Notre Dame.

If you don't mind me asking, why are those two cities so near and dear? From an outsiders perspective they seem like they wouldn't have much in common.

I've been in Tallahassee for the most of nine years because my immediate family lives here, but I can't stand the south. Duluth is one of the most beautiful cities in the country, and I'm proud to say I grew up there. I would gladly exchange the no fishing winter here for the awesome ice fishing in northeastern Minnesota.

As a resident southerner I will say that Florida is not the south. It's just ... Florida. Sorry to hear that you don't like the area. I've never been ice fishing, would love to try it sometime.
