They're putting a round about at the intersection a mile down from my house. This is the main road I use to go most everywhere. They have the road blocked at the intersection by my house. No big deal, I can deal with it until they get done until they decide to tear out a small bridge on the next street over a little further down from the round about. you don't find this out until you're at a point where you are forced to make a U turn and go about another mile before finding a street that will get you to your destination. You'd think they would work on one project at a time given the streets are so close and heavily traveled.
What's worse, is the round about is at the intersection in front of the high school. With teens driving and cell phones in hand, I see a lot of accidents happening the first month or so.
We don't have many traffic circles in my area, but the university I work at has been working on a master plan where campus is outlined by four major roads, each connected by a roundabout.
It's been really nice, and has improved access to campus with the outlying major roads and highways.
The main problem, rather than college students that don't pay enough attention while driving, are the people that don't know the rules of using a traffic circle. They've been in place for 3+ years now at two corners of campus, and there are still people that don't know what to do.
The other day, I was behind a car that waited for 30 seconds to enter the circle without any other traffic around. They finally entered, just in time for a few other cars to reach the circle. They proceed to stop and yield to the people OUTSIDE the circle at each exit. C'mon man.
