Just moved to Austin, Texas so I asked the bartender for suggestions from her Texan beers. From the four she selected, I've had:

Live Oak Hefe-Weizen. Amazing.

Easily the best American Hefeweizen I've ever had. Wish they distributed to AZ >.<

Room service and Monday Night Football tonight. Drinking Rebel Reserve (a Weller bourbon I can't find where I live) with 3 Philosophers interspersed. (I found a good liquor store out here!)

3 Philosophers is one of my favorite beers.

Stone milk stout. It's not something I can drink much of, but it was the perfect capper to a meal of spicy tacos and Victory Dirtwolf DIPA. A good dessert beer.

2nd time, but my first was years ago when I was just getting into fine beer. I received the set as a birthday gift.

Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw Vintage 2011.

This beer is an amazing fruit bomb. Cherries and plums soaked in brandy, figs, dates, caramelized pears, raisins and caramel malt.

A nice beer to celebrate the new baby. I put this down for aging when our last child was born so that I could open it when the new baby arrived. Everything I have read says that it needs to be aged at least 1 year but is best at about 4 years.

Made an Old Maid

Muddled cucumber and mint in the shaker
1 oz. lime juice
3/4 oz. simple syrup
2 oz. gin
Put ice in the shaker and shake the hell out of it
Double strain into a glass with clean ice
Garnish with cucumber

You can reverse the syrup and lime ratios if you prefer sweet to sour.
