Amen. Fat Tire is a great way to introduce newbies to craft beer. Virtually everyone likes it.

I'm a fan of their Trippel as well. It's no La Fin du Monde, but at $7/ sixer and nearly 8% ABV, it's one helluva value.

I've heard great things about their Lips of Faith series, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Total Wine carries some of the Lips of Faith series.

You're right, their Trippel is pretty good, especially for the price. In MI, I still see it alot in 22's, which is great (I only had one beer honey)!

This just reminded me that their Pale Lager, Shift is also quite good. I think it comes in 4 packs of 16 oz cans. Their Red Hoptober is great too. I haven't had a bad NB beer yet and if they're in your state, they're pretty easy to find (pretty sure the Kroger by me sells some NB beers).

Going to a wedding tonight with an open top shelf bar. Bring on the whiskey. Hope to try some decent stuff.

Thanks to everyone for their advice. Ended up getting a Highland Oatmeal Porter. Not bad. Not nearly as thick as it looks.

A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

Did you know that Goose Island was bought by InBev (Budweiser).

Yes, tragic. I haven't noticed any change in quality yet, but historical precedence leaves me with little hope.

Been drinking a lot of Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red, seems like that's been mentioned.

For those in the Chicago area - how did we go 16 pages without mentioning the best?

Pretty much anything from Three Floyd's Brewery. My faves:

Zombie Dust:

Alpha King:

Gumballhead:

All of them outstanding, and I love their brewery. In Munster, IN, only like 30-45 minutes from Chicago.

PSYCHED about my day trip to FFF tomorrow! Apparently they released a new black IPA in bomber bottles today. Can't wait to pick some up.

Three Floyds really is the best. Zombie Dust in particular is unbelievable. Just bursting with flavor. I remember the last time I had it, I had a very good beer directly after (can't even remember which, a Founders beer I think) and I could not even taste it. Anything tastes bland after a Zombie Dust.

Tried New Belgium Dive earlier tonight, not bad. Just a little hoppy and some fruit taste.

Now, I'm trying this for the first time:

That looks amazing. How is it?

Another Stone Ruination for me while I watch it snow outside.

Has anyone here had Batch 19 (yes I know it is brewed by Coors but I have heard decent things about it)? I am tempted to buy some but was looking for some more opinions first. Thanks

Founders Red Rye. Keeping me warm on a snowy night.

Has anyone had the Founder's Centennial IPA? I was close to getting a six of that tonight

Pretty good. A little malty, some vanilla, but heavy and has a good finish. This beer isn't for those that don't like stouts. Not sure where New Holland Brew Co distributes to. Being from MI, I would assume that they are strictly Midwest.

I'm a fan of Ruination. Have some Arrogant B@stard in the Fridge that may have to happen tomorrow. Ever had it?

I like Arrogant Bastard, and they also have Oaked Arrogant Bastard and Double Bastard as well. Arrogant Bastard has lots of malt with some caramel, toffee, and hops. It is very reasonable here at $4 for a bomber.

George T Stagg bourbon 2010 71.5% abv.

Drier than the 2008 release.
N: Vanilla, dried cranberries, prunes, oak, cinnamon.
P: Very dry, lots of vanilla, oak, pencil shavings, some dried cherries, cinnamon, walnuts, and brown sugar. Old leather, and cigar tobacco.
F: Very long (5 minutes later I can still taste it), oak, vanilla, sawdust, pencil shavings, walnuts, smoked almonds, and cinnamon.

Just another great bourbon.

Do you live in a liquor store pkt?

I wish. (my wife would say yes she does). I am down from my peak of 150 bottles of whisky, 50 bottles of wine and 50 bottles of beer (Down is relative, to 75 bottles of whisky 20 bottles of beer and 20 bottles of wine). I love to try new things. Both drinks and food (I love to try new food). Anything that pushes my taste buds and is new and different is always welcome in my house.
