What did you think of the Empyrean? I haven't tried it yet, but like their Dark Side Vanilla Porter.

I really like it, can definitely taste the PB in it. Not something I would have more than 1 in a night.

That being said, I really like PB porters but they aren't for everyone.

So ill be heading to Seattle for a few days and then San Diego in a couple months later. Which breweries should I hit up?

Where in San Diego? There are a ton of good breweries there. I strongly recommend Societe Brewing. Modern Times is a good choice. If you want a restaurant as well, some Stone and Ballast Point locations have food. Also Karl Strauss is pretty decent food and ok beer and Pizza Port is very family friendly (a great option if kids are along). Depending on where in San Diego you will be, there is Green Flash, Coronado, Mother Earth, Port Brewing/Lost Abbey, Saint Archer, Alesmith and maybe Alpine (though kind of a drive). There are many more as well.

Also picked up Surly Barrel Aged Darkness which I'll have after the new baby comes in a few weeks.

Nice have not heard about the Lagunitas tap rooms in Sea, they were one of my favorite breweries. As for San Diego we will be staying in Old Town, but my brother in law and I will send the wives and kids off to do something while we drink around town

Close by Old Town is Modern Times (really good hoppy beers), Ballast Point Home Brew Mart, one of Stone's Bistro and Beer Gardens, and a Coronado Brewing taproom. I also strongly recommend Societe Brewing for hoppy beers and it isn't too far from Old Town.

My previous post lists some other good options if you want to travel a little farther.

solid info, I think we are going to make our way up to Stone and Belching Beaver is a few mins from there as well

Surly Xtra-Citra Pale Ale. A pretty good "session" IPA. Probably won't ever buy it again but still enjoyable.

My buddy picked up a Rebel Yell for me today. I hope to have it soon. It is a wheated bourbon similar to the Weller mash.

Any suggestions on breweries to go to in San Diego for a bachelor party? Guessing stone and ballast point although not sure how far they are from where we are staying.

The hard part is bachelor party. Normally in that area I would recommend Pizza Port or Karl Strauss but both of them are more family friendly/kid friendly. If you want a laid back bachelor party they would work. Otherwise you are looking at a drive to Stone, Ballast Point, Societe, Modern Times, or Lost Abbey/Port Brewing. Green Flash, St Archer and Alesmith are other options.

Is there anything better than Victory Golden Monkey? This shit is my all time favorite. Insanely drinkable at 9.5% ABV.

Next up is Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Has a fish on the bottle. From Michigan. Makes me think of Woolybug.

Keep an eye out for Allagash Tripel (or Curieux), Boulevard's Long Strange Tripel, or any of the Trappist imports (Chimay, Westmalle, Karmeliet, etc.) as well.
