Republican mini-wave.

So now what? Repeal Obamacare. Ain't gonna happen. Repeal climate change? Blow up Isis? Blow up Ebola? Build an even bigger fence on the Mexican border?
About the only thing I can see the GOP doing is sucking up to corporate America and sposoring even more crony capatalist bs than they already do. Yeah team.

All this Team Red vs Team Blue s**t is ridiculous. Even if you were born on the day George W. Bush was elected you should have enough experience with politics to realize that the difference between Red and Blue is a difference without a distinction. Honestly how is Obama that much different than Bush? How were Romney's positions that different than Obama's? It is all a giant circle jerk and the only thing that changes is things get worse.
None of this is to say that I don't have ideas or philosophies of governance I care about and agree with but I know a rigged game when I see one.
Your gay buddy didn't get to come out because a Democrat was in the office, your buddy got to come out because the spirit of the times is increasingly liberal and permissive. Obama doesn't give a single f**k about gays but it was politically popular, or so he thought anyway, to repeal DADT. If the spirit of the times was conservative Obama would have left DADT alone. Alas Clinton, a Democrat, signed DADT into law.In many ways, the two sides are so close as to be indistinguishable. A lot of this is a matter of practicality. A political candidate can say anything he wants about (say) defense spending on the campaign trail, but the view looks a lot different from the oval office. When the generals unroll a map and say what national security priorities do you want us to abandon, what capabilities do you want us to stop pursuing, what bases do you want us to close...most politicians will drop their ideological stance and make decisions based on prudence.
That being said, you're kidding yourself if you don't think politics (and I'm talking about the team red v. team blue type) make a difference in people's lives. My gay buddy in the Army was only able to openly acknowledge his husband after the Obama administration ended DADT (and, despite predictions to the contrary, the Army has still gone rolling along.) People with pre-existing health conditions are able to purchase insurance today because of Obamacare. I'm sure people who lean the other way can think of things that are important to them that Repubs made happen.

Oregon, Alaska and DC all came to their sense and ended the ridiculously stupid Marijuana prohibition.
Who would've thought that California would be the last state on the west coast to legalize weed? Haha
California will likely pass in 2016, hopefully another state or two join them. I'd like to see a state in New England legalize, like a New Hampire, Vermont, or Maine.
Apparently there are five states having ballot initiatives in 2016. Arizona. California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada. There could be more eventually.
Nine states and DC with legal marijuana this time two years from now? Yes please.

Not nearly as good as the Salty tears...
I'm usually a "move forward with dignity and grace" kind of cat, however the conduct of Libbies around me over the last several years dictates that I crack a beer and watch the bridge jumping for a moment...actually its more like watching a ship go down and people inexplicably clinging to the anchor...but more fun.
I remember the, "good guys won, now sit down and take it idiots" comments on this very board... But I'm not celebratory, An effective, legit Republican Party died a while back imo and the petulant leaders on the other side ain't going away... Nothing much will change... Ill just sit back and watch n hope for the best while expecting the worst.

Now I remember why I stopped reading political threads on the internet. News flash... Democrats are bought and paid for the same as Republicans. Wake up.
Can't believe Virginia senate race still too close to call. Swear to God if we elect a career politician/lobbyist over Mark Warner I'm going to be so sad. Don't even know how this happened... polling showed Warner up no less than 9 points at all times.
