If this actually ends up being true, it’d be epic. It sounds completely fake on the surface. So one of the twitter accounts that correctly called the USC (and I think UCLA part too) to the Big Ten and claims sources is saying Phil Knight might pay ND's exit fee/grant of rights in exchange for getting Oregon into the Big Ten with us.
Even if only for non-football scheduling purposes, you probably need four (or more) west coast teams for this conference to make sense. Otherwise USC and UCLA are on too much of an island out there. There are football and TV benefits too. Agree that Oregon and Washington are 1 and 2 - and probably they come together.Washington, Oregon, North Carolina, Boston College, Miami… those are the kinds of teams that might bring value to the Big Ten in further expansion because of media markets.
Stanford does literally nothing for the Big Ten except add some academic prestige.
I tend to agree that they eventually end as a true “super conference” sports conglomerate that is nationwide… likely at 20ish teams… but I’m not sure that happens in the near term here. I think that’s more long term expansion. I would expect them to look to add 1-2 teams (including Notre Dame) before this upcoming media rights negotiation if and only if they will drive up the $$ number. ND will clearly do that.
CBB is a non-factor in broadcast rights. The NCAA owns those rights and money is distributed more evenly than in CFB.Do media markets even matter or is it just strength of brands? Outside of ND, I think Miami and Washington are the schools that bring the most value to B1G from a viewership perspective.
What about Duke basketball? Are all CBB programs a non-factor?
Football sure... but they do not dominate every sport.Personally, I hate the Big Ten and think it’s a joke conference with OSU being the consistent exception (MSU, Wisconsin at times). I’m okay with scheduling a team periodically, but there has to be a better move for ND. The vibe seems like this is a real possibility for ND though. USC and UCLA look desperate selling themselves to be fish out of water, but I get it. The Pac12 was an even worse conference, and more money is more money.
Yes. Now go put some water in your momma’s dish you broke ass Ice T, livin in a cave in Afghanistan lookin motha fuckaIs this you ACamp?

Outside of the PAC and the ACC I figure they would also want a Texas school though which one is harder to say.
Preemptively doubling down… let’s see how this plays outI'll bet my life UT ends up in the Super B1Gger Alliance when it all shakes out.
I'll bet my reincarnated life that one of UT or A&M ends up in it.
Cincinnati is in Southern Ohio. I’m more saying that they’re still playing in Ohio State’s state and that’s how it’s always going to be for the Bearcats. Are cinci not? They must be on the up in that area.
I don’t feel quite so strongly as Crus but I would bet a lot of money that UT would prefer the B1G over the SEC

That ACC poison pill is pretty spicy. The B1G and SEC may have to take extra teams just to create a majority who want to dissolve the conference.Chili Tech and the Ville to the SuperEC by '25
Actually at this rate, it may be 25 days.

Actually maybe 8 teams getting picked up by B1G/SEC is pretty realistic.

I wonder what the ACC could do to trigger a fresh media rights agreement. Perhaps adding schools will allow them to renegotiate something good enough to keep everyone happy. The conference strikes me as a lot more cohesive than either the Pac 12 or the Big 12 were. I figure West Virginia would be an easy pull, for starters.
Just a thought, what if teams want out, for whatever reason? Say Ohio St doesn’t like the direction of the BIG and decides to join the SEC? Would those in favor of ND to the BIG still be in favor?
Absolutely, but I don’t see the SEC being out done on the money front, they’ll find a way to take the lead for the sake of doing so. If the only proven team to compete and win at the highest level (disregarding Michigans lone appearance last year) decided they no longer wanted to be there, and money wasn’t an option does that change ND’s stance? Assuming they’re working out the details to join. There's more money and less elite comp in the B1G. I can't see that happening.
I think if the Bucks left the B1G, ND could ask for $1B up front and the B1G's would have to pony up.
