That is pretty F'd up. I hate SC, but it's not mom's decision to make. She can help and give her opinion, but that's as far as it should go. I'm glad for our team that he didn't wind up at SC, but I definitely feel bad for him.

This is really nothing compared to Alex Collins. Thomas' mom just didn't want her son to go that far from home, especially a place she had never been too. She said that through the entire process.

Hatcher's mom said similar things except she got to know Hawkins' father and trusted that the Hawkins family would be a good resource if Jason needed something while out in Cali. She was happy he decided to stay in state though but said her son made a bad choice by choosing UK over Louisville.

That is seriously the biggest load of collective BS I've ever read. Absolutely none of that is remotely true for most prospects.

Which is funniest... them suggesting that a star CB chose a school because he didn't want playing time and prefers to ride the bench? Or them saying Vanderdoes (a defensive tackle) was scared away because one guy at a different position had a pretty good year?

Hilarious.

The weird thing if USC would have had the season they should of had it would have gone down as maybe the best recruiting class ever. Matthew Thomas would have been a Trojan if his mom let him.

I am unbelievably pleased with this article. This mirrors the lying ND faithful told themselves from '96 to '09. If they accept this article, the will eventually thank Lane for a 6 win season . . .

Irishnuke thanks for the link. I laughed until I cried. The article and the comments perfect. As I recall, Pat Haden attended EV's sister's bb game because the Trogans (or more formally U$C) did not really want him. Am I correct here?

Haha, that artcile was great! I don't think I've seen a more ridiculous piece of "journalism" in quite awhile. Here was one of my favorite lines:

Like Hatcher, Massington was advised to say he de-committed so as not to hurt himself with other college football programs.

So, tell me exactly how Massington would have hurt himself with other college football programs if USC would have come out and said they pulled his scholarship, as oppose to saying he just de-committed? If you ask me, it sounds more like USC would hurt their chances with other recruits if it comes out that they pulled a scholarship, as oppose to Massington hurting his chances with other programs. So much BS in that artcile, and it only takes less than 20 seconds of reading till you're trudging through the crap.

Lol this article is amazing!! Did the USC AD write this himself?

OMG...it certainly looks it. Serious propoganda here. This artical could be using against them going forward for sure. USC is in crisis mode. They need that guy from Pulp Fiction to come in and clean this up.

Picked up 2014, 6-1, 285lb DT Tashon Smallwood from Fresno. Geesh I feel sorry for any kid having to grow up with that last name.

@BryanDFischer: RT @InsideUSC: Defensive tackle Christian Heyward, defensive end DeVante Wilson and tight end Junior Pomee are not on the #USC spring roster

Mostly irrelevant players. Always thought Pomee had potential. Heyward was a highly touted recruit at a position they have limited depth. But none of these guys were contributors.

Still... every body counts for USC and this is 3 less for them.

Showing my stupidity here...why aren't they on the Spring roster? Where did they go or what happened?

Heyward also had shoulder surgery before last season. Dunno if that was an ongoing issue.

So they likely dropped 2 guys for medical issues to make room, and one for legal issues who was a bench rider in an area they have plenty of depth. Kiffin likely planted the evidence... LOL.

Glad to see Lane throw his team under the bus to back a guy that won't be there next year. Why kids continue to head to USC to play for this guy is beyond me. His comment, for those that didn't see it:
If Matt Barkley had the defense that Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer had, Matt Barkley would have won the Heisman Trophy just like they did. He would have had the winning records they had.

1) If your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle.
2) The same can be said about Jimmy Clausen.
3) There is no way a QB's draft stock should be related to his defense. And if there were any doubts, Barkley should've participated in drills at the combine. If his stock goes down, it's because HE had a terrible season. Not his defense.

More excuses:
Kiffin traces the beginnings of the public's changed perception of Barkley to a 56-48 overtime loss to Stanford and quarterback Andrew Luck in 2011.

"Andrew threw an interception for a touchdown and, their very next drive we stop them, and [safety] T.J. McDonald gets called for a head-to-head personal foul that keeps the drive alive," Kiffin said. "Is that Matt Barkley's fault? If that flag's not thrown and we stop them right there, you go, 'Man, Matt just beat Andrew Luck.' When I remember Matt, I think of all that stuff."

Kiffin also stressed roster limits caused by NCAA sanctions that limited USC's array of targets and the depth on its offensive line during Barkley's tenure.

Barkley:
"There have been great USC quarterbacks [who have done] some things in the NFL," Barkley told reporters last week at the NFL scouting combine. "I know my case, my situation and my story is different than all those other guys. I don't think you can put everyone in the same mold. I know what I'm capable of, and I wouldn't be so quick to put a mold around me."

I seriously hate these guys and everything that has to do with USC.
