How many can USC sign?

Rogers was one of the 12 signed members of the class of 2012. As a greyshirt midyear enrollee, he now will count towards the class of 2013. That means USC really only signed 11 players in February, not 12. But Silas Redd will still take one of those 2012 rides, bringing the total back up to 12.

With Rogers now counting towards the class of 2013, that leaves just 14 spots available in that class. That would suggest USC can bring in 17 "new" recruits in January and February. In total, three from the class of 2012 and 14 from the class of 2013. Any additional spots would have to come from an initial counter loophole we are not aware of

If this Saturday was any indication SC is vulnerable this year (Cuse game too really). Think they'll see some defections? I wouldn't be surprised to see Stanford and UCLA (maybe us? PLEASE!!!) Poach some of their guys.

I don't see why they interpret Silas Redd counting as a member of the 2012 class? Transfers don't count like that normally and why would USC ever assume a more "conservative" treatment. Part of the reason going for him is to dance around the 15 freshman limit?

From what I saw of the Stanford game, USC is not nearly as good as I thought (still tough, just not great) and Stanford is much tougher than expected.

The downside of that game is knowing that ND has to play both. I was at a bar watching some of the ND game and the tv next to it had that game on...just thinking to myself.."yup thats another two Saturday's to stress out over"

true but its hard to compare them with us though based off of that. neither team has played a quality opponent except for each other. It could have been two top 25 teams playing each other, it could have been two top 15 teams playing each other, or it could have been a lucky @s$ game for Stanford. We dont really have anything to compared them against in relation to us. Lets see how they do against other quality opponents.

USC games to watch: CAL, Oregon, UCLA, Arizona
Stanford games to watch: Washington and Arizona or the only games before ours. Those games could tell us a lot.

Two scenarios that can benefit us in recruiting.

1) Kiffen cuts a few guys loose b/c he doesn't have room for all of the superstars. Looks like he is one over right now at least.

2) (preferred scenario) USC ends up with 3 or more losses and talent bails on a pathetic end to a promising season. ND and Oregon might be favored, a few others could sneak up on them and if they make a Pac 10 championship they could easily lose. Throw on a bowl loss and a 5 loss USC is not unfathomable. What would THAT do to their signing day?

Quick summary since I am newly forming a stance that USC's class could fall apart.

10 of 18 are from California, the 8 that are NOT are from quite a distance.

WA, TN , IL, KY, TX x 2, MD x 2
Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Commits to visit, but Trojans won't fret
Two MD guys are classmates 5* and 4*, If Bigelow is sucha a lock, why "medium" interest to OSU and Auburn?

TN 5* visited FL two months after committing and shows "medium" interest on Rivals despite USC verbal

I'm sure I could go on. The article gives me the impression these guys are not in contact with eachother unlike our recruits.

I'm putting the over/under at 2 for how many of the current list end up somewhere else. We only stand a chance if USC has 3 or more losses and we have 2 or less. Decent chance of that happening so I'll play along for a while yet.

80% would be 13 kids out of 17. Wonder what four didn't reaffirm there commitment.

You'd be poaching guys they don't want or trying to get guys that didn't want us. Two guys USC would probably love to shed are Massington (WR from TX who blew out his knee) and Sebastian LaRue (WR/CB who committed right when he got his offer and has had doubts about how much they really want him ever since). Many others are taking visits, but most will stick with USC and none of them are taking visits to ND...

Supposedly their class is really teetering on the brink. Almost all of the kids are, at minimum, considering UCLA now... I expect more to give serious consideration to Oregon and maybe Stanford too.

Sounds like ND would be in play for a number of recruits but we're largely full with our eyes on the usual suspects that have been named already. Really interested to see what happens with Mattingly and James.

I wouldn't expect Bigelow and Rodgers to decommit because they are basically bought players (read up on his "school" that they attend) and I'd also be surprised if Browne made any kind of move.

Everyone else I think there is at least a possibility of them not ending up at USC.

I don't see them losing half their class right now. Mainly because half of their classes is enrolling in the next six weeks. Just my opinion and recruiting is always whacky.

I think they probably have at least two players and maybe up to four that are currently committed that don't end up at USC.
