1. We won the 1st and 4th Quarters. We got out fast, and we finished strong. USC is too talented for us to have kept them down the whole game. The only quarter we really looked bad in was the 2nd, and I will take that.

2. We all know that there are a lot of reasons that ND will have to SIGNIFICANTLY improve, in order to make, and do something in, the playoffs; Deshone Kizer is one of those reasons. This is NOT a bashing of him. He is a first year starter who wasn't even getting starter reps in Spring ball. He is doing well, for a "rookie". But he still looks like a "rookie". He simply cannot continue to hold on to the ball so long, and take so long to make decisions. He still has trouble with some throws, too. I think he is learning quickly, but probably not quickly enough for this season.

3. There is no reason why we cannot beat the rest of our schedule. It's not a guarantee, obviously, but we should be cautiously optimistic about the rest of the regular season. After that, it will be up to the committee.

4. Another game where the coaches made good adjustments at halftime. I really think that we ought to see the end of all of the calls to fire Kelly, or VanGorder, or Lyght, or Denson, or Longo, or any other coach?

5. Faith is the word of the day. When it comes to America's preeminent Catholic University, and her football team, a little bit of faith is not really too much to ask for, is it?

My game ball goes to CJ Prosise, who once again looked like a guy who has played running back all his life. I've been incredibly impressed with his growth this year, and it's subsequent success.

My thoughts:

1. Kizer holds the ball way too long. Once you are thru your progressions, run the damn ball.

2. Will Fuller is the best WR in college football.

3. Missed tackles were again the key to the defensive woes.

4. Joe Schmidt needs to sit.

5. After I blasted Corey Robinson a few weeks ago, I gladly eat crow and say nice catch on that TD grab.

6. Who didn't know the one USC drive inside the 5 was run first as window dressing just to set up the play action for the TD on the next play? I'm surprised they didn't have the Indiana State Police guy announce it.

Crazy to think that final game against Stanford could very well be for a CFP spot. Who would have thought that after week 1?

If it does come to that the Clemson game is rendered completely meaningless...

Four teams in front of us lost but Stanford might jump us. Should be around 11.

IF we get into the top ten before November... AND we win out ... AND Stanford looks good, I'm pretty sure we're in.

If the Big XII eliminates itself, as it tends to, I'd bet money we're in if we win out.

Yup. I think if we show out between now and Stanford, the CFPC will look last the Clemson loss. It would ESPECIALLY help if Clemson could win the ACC and Stanford win the P12.

I recall a whole lot of us saying before the season that if we could get through the first six games (specifically GT, Clemson, and usc) with only 1 loss, we would be optimistic for a playoff spot.

Mission accomplished through the first half. Even after s*** hit the fan. We're not there yet and we can't take any games off, but the potential seems sky high.

I'm not going to analyze what went wrong or what could have been. The same things went wrong that have went wrong since Kelly took the helm 5 1/2 seasons ago. I'm also not going to do too much predicting or projecting where we'll be or what will happen...

For now, after 3 straight 12 hour shifts at work, with 1 more to go tomorrow, I'm just going to relish living Southern California having just beat Southern California.

The fact we are even in NC contention with our injuries is amazing. Definitely Kelly's best coaching job

I loved seeing the attitude from the D near the end of the game. Even after getting gashed for almost 600 yards, they were still fighting. This team doesn't back down.

Can we talk about the kick off guy? That ball needs to be put in the endzone. There has to be someone on campus who can hit the endzone and eliminate returns.

I'm incredibly happy with this win. I love this team and the kids. Watching the showtime series has given great insight. Denbrock talking to Corey after that big drop in Clemson made me want such big things for him. And he delivered tonight.
-Kizer is a cool customer. Took a couple of bad sacks, but I'm glad he's on our side. Not many backups have his poise. Great kid.
- Both CJs were great tonight. Both take some monster hits though.
-Will Fuller. Enough said
- Jaylon looks like he's shot out of a cannon
-Oline delivered in 4th
-Schmidts all heart. Always in position to miss the tackle
- DBs were tough tonight. KVR is back. Schumate brings the pain. Max responded
-red zone play calling is strange at times

Something that bothers me about our defense. I know we bitch about our scheme and let up some big plays, but it usually seems like guys are in position but someone misses a tackle. I'm not holding out hope it will ever be cleaned up, but as long as we score more I'm happy.
Good win against a talented rival. Go Irish!

I knew Fuller was fast but he made Adoree look pedestrian several times.

First and foremost, it was amazing beating USC tonight! I can only think of what would have happened had we scored instead of having Hunter Jr. fumble.

Otherwise the yards put up by USC seems to be a little overblown. They had the ball for probably three times what we did in the first half, and when we scored we usually scored fast. Add to that another trick play going the distance, and the 50 yards at the end of the game and you have a reason for most of their yardage. Yardage gained any other way would have amounted to just over 400 probably. Not great, but better.

Additionally, I feel that our team is about to explode in the next few weeks. It still looks as though we are in cruise control at times, which leads to inconsistent play. Hopefully we save our best performances for the games in which we need to play big, Stanford being one of them.

Good game boys! I'm not ready to fire anyone yet. (Like I have the power anyway)

P.S. FVCK MEATCHICKEN!!!!

I think that Adoree's problem is that he is usually much faster than who he plays against and thus he has never learned proper technique and when he plays against someone as fast as him (Fuller) that he looks pretty rough because his technique just isn't good enough.

That was being done purposely, dude.

We beat USC. This pleases me.
