SIAP, but per multiple sources, ND will not be recruiting Chris Nelson anymore either.

Hopefully that means we feel good about the other three. I never was able to find recent film but from what I heard about him I thought he was an intriguing prospect.

So who do people think is the most polished of our DL targets? It would be great if we could get someone who could contribute right away, rather than redshirt.

I think the best right now is Sawyers, but he also has the lowest upside. Mokwuah is the opposite of him. Cage is right in the middle of both equation.

Just my view on these guys. Mokwuah and Cage are also bigger / longer frames.

I assume Trumbetti simply because he has a jumpstart on the others.

EDIT: Realize you may be referring to those we are still after. My bad.

Oh true ... I meant it the way IM8 interpreted it, which of the recent interior DL targets.

I'll leave the thread now.

Lol no my bad for being unclear.

Just wondering about this because our NG depth chart is two NG/DE swing guys (Jarron jones and Springmann, who is returning from injury) and ... that's it. One project is fine, but I would also love another guy who can take game reps immediately. (Of course, moving to a one gap system or playing more 4-down will help alleviate the problem too. )

I like Trumbetti for the same reason but he needs to add like 20 lbs to play DE let alone DT. Last I saw he was at 250ish?
Edit: Me too lol

Nailed it. I would like to see Sawyers and one of Cage/Mokwuah because I think Sawyers will bring something to the 4-3 look being smaller and quicker in close spaces. A lot like Sheldon day. Maybe more of a pass rusher from DT.

Would we take all three? If not, which would be the ideal pair? They seem to each bring a unique mix of polish and upside, so there's probably no bad combo.

DL is extremely tough to compete coming in. Ol are usually upperclassmen and have a major physical advantage. What Day did his fr year is boarder line bizarre. I know it happens every year but it is rare.

Isaac Rochell is going to be great IMHO, and even though he came in huge he had difficulty holding his own. I am hoping he takes the biggest leap of anyone in the 13 class.

It will be interesting to see if Hounshell gets it together and stays healthy. I have no opinion on him.

Springman is awesome! I think springman will be our best DL next year.

Day will be very good

Jarron could be a monster next year.

I hope to see ishaq and Romeo on the field together a lot next year.

So if pressed to pick one I would have to say Trumbetti . Then Hayes.

I am very curious about Matuska and if he develops and plays next year or moves to inline TE.

Also with the abundance /youth at OL I wonder if Montelus gets a look at DT. The dude is 340+ and athletic and mean!

I guess Mokwuah and Sawyers would be ideal, huh? One guy who may be able to play early and one high-upside project. Not to take anything away from Cage.

That was my thought as well, though Cage + Mokwuah or Sawyer + Cage aren't much worse.

It might be a bit of a gamble hoping the guys currently on the roster can stay healthy, but I think this combo is the best in the sense of long-term physical ability. Both those guys have serious upside.

It's a really good class right now, but finishing off w/2 of the DT's, IM, Alexander and 1 of JuJu/Quick would be a home run. I doubt that happens, but it would be pretty nifty.

1 DT and Alexander is ok, too, tho'.

Didn't want to bump his thread, but just re-posting Jay Hayes's highlights from Jr. This kid is a monster and incredibly fast and agile for his size. Like last year, my 'steal of the class' is another 4-star (Tori Hunter Jr).

From intel today....

Both Terrence Alexander and his father greatly enjoyed their visit to ND. Both like Kerry Cooks and are very impressed with BVG. Really like his NFL pedigree.

Bonner pretty much confirmed that ND will be running a 4-3. Personally i think we'll see a mix of 4-3 and 3-4 but mostly one gap rather than 2 gap.

Barnett likes the Lafleur hire. Obviously still solid even with scUM offer.

ND wants 2 DT a DB and an offensive player to finish class. Staff feels Sawyers is better now but Cage and Mokwuah have more upside. Juju is a take no matter what. Will make room if they have to.

Shouldn't be anything to worry about with Kolin Hill. Told the coaching staff he has no intention of considering UT again.

IMO we get Cage Mokwuah Alexander and Quick. I will pay especially close attention to any Juju interviews coming up. If I hear the words "business decision" I will feel really good about where we stand.

Are the ISD guys hearing the same JuJu things that 247 is hearing? Just wondering if their confidence level is as high.

I'm curious, do you guys want IM or Quick more?

Sounds like from Intel we only expect to get one of them, and that seems about right if you play the percentage game (which is kind of silly in recruiting, but what else is there).

Didn't really have much today on JuJu other than he has a spot in the class if he wants in. Alexander is more likely in their opinion.
