Anyone familiar with Fort Meyers?

My mother is taking my 13 year old sister there for Xmas, and my sister has never seen the ocean. She's really interested in going snorkeling, and as it turns out I still need to get her an Xmas present. I'd like to set up snorkeling trip for her, but I dont know that part of FL at all.

Take a day trip out to Sanibel Island. There are snorkeling trips offered from there, suggest a morning half day. Get to the beaches on Sanibel, some of the best shelling in the world.

For Christmas I gave my wife the following 4 options to choose from:
Alaska Cruise
Great Lakes Cruise
Trip to Ireland w/ ND game included
Belize or Costa Rica or Puerto Rico

She picked all 4!

Travelling to Thailand (Phuket, Bangkok, & Chiang Mai) and Bali for 2 weeks in May. Any and all advice/recommendations greatly appreciated.

Been to all those places.. though it was 10 yrs ago. Happy to help if I can... but need more info on what you like to do. If you're active vs beach bum, a Hilton guy or stay with locals kinda guy... arts & culture travel is our bag, can't really help with high-end shopping, theme park kinda stuff.

I can say that the Sunday Night Market in Chiang Mai is a must if you can arrange the schedule. (We loved Chiang Mai and could see ourselves living there... it's a "small" city of over 1MM.)

PM?

North Dakota gets COLD!!

If I recall correctly I was in Minot on February 4th, 1989 for a friend's wedding. Coldest day recorded on the planet! We were advised to leave out vehicles running and the hotel went around and filled your vehicle.

That was also the weekend I discovered "Mad Dog 20/20". Wine fot some and antifreeze for the rest of us. I am not proud of that bit of history.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

So we are actually going to do South Africa for our honeymoon.

4 Nights in Cape Town
4 Nights in the Winelands region (2 nights Stellenbosch, 2 nights Franschooek)
4 Nights on Safari at a private game reserve.

We aren't doing Kruger this time because of our budget and because we don't want to spend basically a full day traveling there. The private game reserve is relatively small but the lodging is outstanding and I think for someone who hasn't been on a Safari before we won't even know the difference.

I can't help at all but congratulations again. Sounds like it's going to be a great time.

Going to Chicago first weekend of March to celebrate my dad's birthday. Then sometime this summer, I might be going to the California Missions, NOLA, or Mexico with a friend before she joins a convent.

Wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the info/help about Nice & Paris. Had a lovely time. DIdn' tget to *all* of the suggestions, but most. Transport strike made the Metro a dead issue.

Next up: Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and the Inti Raymi festival in Cusco in June. Any tips re: Peru / Bolivia?

Get salteñas in Bolivia and prepare for your mind to be blown by the Peruvian food. I've never been but have heard nothing but amazing things

Congrats to you and your husband!

Please post your thoughts afterwards. My wife and I are planning a trip to Africa in 2 years but we have no idea how to schedule it or how to build the itinerary.

Thanks! I don't think I have ever been more excited for a trip but we aren't going until December (getting married in October).

I know way more about South Africa than probably any person who has never been there at this point so I could probably build an itinerary for you right now but I'll wait to see how everything goes with mine...

Friends, I get married in a month from yesterday in Costa Rica. So excited, cannot wait! A ton of my family and friends are traveling from literally all over the planet (all over the US, Hong Kong, Brazil, Costa Rica) and it's going to be an awesome party.

Literally made that agreement with my fiancee. I used the argument "look, if our anniversary ever falls on a saturday where ranked #1 ND is playing ranked #2 USC... do you really want to risk me being distracted or would you rather being able to have both of us enjoy the day?"

She agreed with a smile and an eye roll, so I'll take it. :D

We have to do ours during football season for various reasons but I made sure to schedule it during a game that I would not want to watch if we lost (aka shitty opponent)

Going to be in San Diego and LA for a week total in July. Already have my San Diego plans and BNB locked up but am relatively clueless about where to stay in LA.

I will be going with my fiance and she has never been to L.A. My only trip to LA was on a school trip and the only thing I remember is Hollywood.

Basically we just want to see the sights, eat good food, and not have to drive ourselves anywhere. We will get our fill of the beach in San Diego so not important to me to stay near one.

Suggestions on where to stay? Things to do? Thanks guys.

I've shared this story before. Oldest son got married the night of the Bush push game. My son, his brothers, a few other guys and I are watching the game when it was time for the ceremony. Ceremony was delayed about 10 minutes before they could pry us away. As soon as the ceremony was over, there was a mad dash back to the TV to catch the end of the game. The ladies just rolled their eyes. lol

AAA had a travel expo this weekend. The wife and I decided to go and get some ideas and pricing for some future trips including Alaska, Italy and Disney. She wants to do Disney first. A five day trip with air fare and passes for four days came to around $3,000. One of the boys and his wife looked at a 7 day trip to Spain and it came in at $3,400. The theme park tickets are killers.

Looking to schedule a trip the first week of March but the dog sitter just had surgery apparently and not available...so, have to figure that out.

We’re thinking Myrtle Beech since it’s only a 10 hour drive. Anyone been there? Recommendations on golf courses?

I typically use a kennel for our two Redbones. Arbor Lane on Edgewood is good. There’s also a good one around 37 and county line road.

Thank you but I don’t think the lady’s going let me kennel him. That one on 37 and County Line is right by my house too.

I’m sure we’ll figure something out. The dog sitter is nice because she doesn’t work and pretty much just plays couch potato at our house the whole time. $30 a day and we buy her list of groceries. But she had to go and screw up her knee or something.

HH doesn’t sound like a bad option. Care to elaborate a little please?

She also suggested possibly Memphis to see Graceland if anyone’s ever been there. Im not too keen on that idea though.
