I am planning a fall foliage tour with my wife (MA,NH,RI and ME). If anyone lives in the area or has done this before, I would love some suggestions on must sees/things to do. Thx

My family has rented a house in Kennebunkport to celebrate my sister turning 30. I suppose I will go to that maybe hang out with W and Laura.

The Bush house is a sight to see. The whole area is beautiful. I vacation in Wells every year, which is a few miles from Kennebunport. I highly recommend The Steakhouse in Wells. They don't take reservations so you will probably have to wait over an hour to eat but it's worth it. The portions are huge. https://www.the-steakhouse.com/

We basically stuck with seafood mostly since my family is concentrated in the geographic center of the continent. Limited access to fresh seafood.

the single worst thing about living in the midwest for me is the lack of fresh seafood. It's depresses me alot.

Going to PVR in late October, sadly missing the Michigan game due to a family vacation. After that, I gotta find a time to get down to the Valley to visit a friend and hopefully have her grandma teach me how to make tamales

Week at Topsail Island starts Saturday - can't wait! 3/4 day deep sea fishing out of Moorhead City on Monday, have not done this before but looking forward to it. Not an inexpensive experience and fully expect the three teenagers to start moaning before we are half done.

Odds of ocean swimmers being attacked by sharks is 1 in 11.5 million - two attacks in this county since 1935. Just prepping the data for when the wife gets hysterical about boogie boarding. Shark Week the week before our beach week is a total PIA.

My wife loves history, and is also nuts for anything related to Fall, especially Halloween.

She's mentioned doing a Fall trip to the Northeast to make a stop in Salem, and I'd like to check out Maine in the Fall.

Give me the idiot's guide to a vacationing in Maine lol

We had a recent weekend jaunt to LA to catch a Dodgers game and kick around the City of Angels (we were there for Spring Break when we covered most of the city).

This week we are on te opposite coast staying off Wilmington, NC. It’s called Bald Head Island. Pretty serene and laid back. We got burned out of going to Destin/Gulf Shores like EVERYONE we know. It’s beautiful, but I like it around Cape Fear better.

Kennebunkport was a great little town. Lots of good food and overall, just relaxing. I enjoy New England a good bit.

Portland is great too. Fun downtown area, lots of little shops for women, and bomb seafood for the family. If you like beer. Lots of good beer.

We did a boat tour where they deliver mail and stuff to the people who live on the nearby islands. There were two tours, we did the longer one which was about 90 minutes too long. The other one is about an hour I think which seemed about right.

Big fans of Oak Island/Southport area but have not done Bald Head yet. Don't like the idea of being reliant on ferry service - my family's ability (read wife's ability) to plan groceries appropriately sucks.

For Cincinnati chili, just find a portajohn outside Great American Ballpark and scoop some out yourself. I hear it's pretty much the same as Gold Star/Skyline

Buy literally the cheapest ticket you can, and then just move to different seats wherever you see a bunch of empties.

If you want to pay for a seat that you're actually going to sit in, I'd say buy a ticket in the left-field bleachers and try to catch an Aquino home run, because he's going to hit a moon shot probably.

There's a Skyline two blocks from the ballpark into downtown, on the corner of E 4th and Sycamore. Get a cheese coney and a three way, eat both, then pass judgement. Then pass judgement again two hours later at your hotel bathroom.

If you want a legit Greek gyro, the best in Cincy is about a 10 minute drive from downtown, depending on traffic and stoplights. Bring cash. http://www.sebastiansgyros.com/

As for Graeters, skip the Chunky Chunky Hippo and try the classic Black Raspberry Chip. It's not my favorite of their offerings, but it's the staple, so you have to try it.

I can give you some more recommendations for downtown or the general area, depending on where you're staying and how much time you have for exploring.

Over the Rhine area is supposed to be cool

Very much so. Quite a few good spots for food and drinks.

Got some of the best fried chicken, tacos, barbecue, and breakfast fare all in a three-block radius. Beer is good at most places, too.

I used to live there. Eagle has the best fried chicken around. Plenty of other amazing eats, too.

BTW, isn't there a spot in Great American where you can get cheese coneys?

They sell Skyline in GABP, but it's ridiculously over-priced. Better to stop two blocks up the street before the game (or after, if the game is over early enough).

Seconded on the Eagle. Their fried chicken is so good. The mac-n-cheese is also probably my favorite mac-n-cheese of all time.

Cheers dude, I am working up in Mason and meeting some family at a local place tonight but I'll head downtown tomorrow and try catch the game and check a few of those places out. What's parking like near the stadium or am I better off ubering?

There is plenty of parking around the stadium.

If you get to the area early, there's a stretch right outside GABP called The Banks, and there is a giant parking garage underneath (I think it's between $5-$10 to park during a ballgame). You walk up the stairs or take the elevator from the garage, and they'll put you on street level with a bunch of bars and restaurants right outside the ballpark. Good bars and bar food, and a few legit restaurants depending on how much time you have and what you're in the mood for.

Even if you have to park in a lot a bit further away, though, or even park a block or two away in the downtown area and then walk towards the riverfront, it's still cheaper than an Uber from Mason lol.

Another cool option is crossing a bridge into Newport or Covington, having some beers on the patio at Hofbrauhaus or some BBQ and beers at Smoke Justis, and then walking across a bridge to get to the game.

There's also Molly Malone's in Covington if you're missing the taste of a full Irish breakfast lol.

The parking situation at a stadium is such an underrated feature imo. I hate going to Dodger stadium just bc traffic and parking. I LOVE Petco in San Diego but unless you have a hotel within walking distance you're kind of screwed in that aspect, Chase field in Phoenix is the same. I really appreciate Staples, Angel Stadium and Honda Center, all three are SO easy to get in and out of with plenty opf parking and freeway access.

If you happen to see a guy that looks like Pete Rose standing on a corner and he asks if you want to place a bet and get rich quick, avoid him.

Looking to go to Myrtle Beach in early July (July 5th thinking that the 4th will be ridiculously busy and attractions/ restaurants packed beyond recognition). We are booked at the Seawatch Plantation in North Myrtle.
Has anyone ever gone at this time? Is it so congested and crowded that it will be less fun and more of an annoyance?
Only reason we are going earlier in the summer this year is I have my son going to college for year 1 and didn't want to chance move in day being in early August when we usually go.
Any feedback is appreciated as I am starting to get nervous thinking it will be too busy. I have been to Disney during the 4th so I can put up with congestion and being lined up dicks to ass holes for some things but I don't want to have to do 10 days of it.

Too me that sounds no fun at all, I rather travel mid week and not on holidays to avoid the over bearing crowds

We plan to get there on the 5th of July (Sunday) and stay until the 15th so the only weekend will be the 10th, 11th, and 12th.

I'm starting to rethink this maybe.
