What I'm picturing makes me think your son is incredibly lucky.

Well, we’re kind of open... so far Bogota, Medellín, Cartagena are the hubs. Would like to see some smaller towns as daytrips. Thinking Guatape, maybe Villa de Leyva.
Would also like some nature-y destinations like Tayrona (but that seems hard to get to) ... maybe hiking in a National Park.
Appreciate any help /recs

3 friends and I are a looking to take a week long fishing trip to Canada. We're coming from MN and Wisconsin, and only 1 of us is vaguely familiar going north of the border. We all fish ~10 times a summer, but just don't have knowledge of CA. We have a boat we can bring.

Any advice for lakes or resorts considering we're driving from just south of the border? Looking for a good time more than anything, but walleye, bass, northern, etc. would be the fish we're looking for.

Idk if it has lots of fishing, but have y'all been to the Boundary Waters? I've heard it's great.

No, we haven't. I'd go, another would go, but the other would be far too physically lazy.

But that would be super fun.

I've not been yet, but my Dad, my brother-in-law, and I are planning a similar trip and have heard really great things about this place: Resort Packages & Pricing | Zup's Fishing Resort & Canoe Outfitters on Lac La Croix Ontario

Planning a week trip with the wife to Boston in the spring. I am interested in the historical aspect of Boston and the wife is interested in... well what wife's are generally interested in - shopping and nice restaurants. Sadly, I don't know much about Boston as far as better neighborhoods to stay in, best places to eat, etc. Any suggestions from our posters from the general area?

enjoy my friend. nothing better than beach and football. i normally spend the first and last week of CFB at the beach. drink a stiff pina colada with a dark floater on top for me. and a bunch of tequila and cheap local beer.

Not a huge fan of Boston, but prefer it to NY..

3T is taking a little break, so likely won't see a response.

You guys ready for a classic Wiz moment? Drove to the Hartford airport this morning for my flight to Atlanta. I was booked out of Providence.

Boston is a shitty version of New York.
As a city, Boston is the exact opposite of New York.

We just booked a 7 day trip to Destin, FL in May. It kind of fell into our lap and was too good to pass up, so we're locked in with little knowledge of the place.

Heard it's beautiful. Any local advice is appreciated. Interested in deep sea fishing, any snorkeling recommendations, and also ways to/from Destin... Seems like it's not easy to get to, and we're not sure if we'll rent a car or not.

As was posted earlier. Cheers is a great bar. I was there in '01 and got to meet the inspiration for Coach and Carla. The bar looks nothing like the show, but It's better and had great food.
The people were super friendly.
You can also go to the "Cheers Bar' the actual replica of the set. I don't really know If It's still around but they were both really good fun. Boston Is my favorite city.

Summer is here. Trips?

Not exactly a vacation, but the wife and I are headed to Vegas on Friday for a week I'm going to a conference for 3 1/2 days. We haven't been in about 13 years. We'll use the rest if the time to see the sights and lose a little money. Owner is paying for both of us. He just said not to put any gambling losses on my expense report. lol

Just back from a 7 day from in Hawaii. Man nothing compares to Hawaii with how relaxing and beautiful it is. Waikiki has changes a little since the last time I went but the north shore of Oahu is the spot to be at and all future trips to Oahu will be in the North Shore for the majority of the time.

Next up is DC in Oct. any tips on DC will be helpful. Food recommendations as well.

Give yourself plenty of time for the Smithsonians and Holocaust museums. Check Smithsonian website ahead of time because they have things like a butterfly encounter where you need to get tickets well ahead of time. You might want an umbrella for visiting the reflecting pool/Lincoln Memorial/Vietnam Memorial/Korean Memorial/WWII Memorial area if its infested with geese. I got shit on TWICE by those feathery bastards.

Most people where I live can’t wait to get to Destin & the 30A. It has beautiful beaches and it’s not a bad drive for us but my wife’s not a big “beach” person and me & the kids can take it or leave it. We do however like to travel to Bald Head Island which is just a ferry ride away from Wilmington, NC. It’s very relazing...almost secduded but you still get beach, golf, etc. Useless trivia: It’s actually the location where “Weekend at Bernies” was filmed.

I use to live in DC and here are a few tips.
1) Bring your lunch and eat at the back of the Lincoln Memorial. It's peaceful and away from most of the crowds
2) Space & Air by Dulles is great and stop by Great Falls National Park on your way. About 30 minutes outside of DC depending on traffic.
3) Contact Mt. Vernon to see if you can raise the flag at sunrise. Check their website and email them.
4) Chinatown Express is a good place to eat on the backside of the Verizon Center (or whatever they call it now). Roasted duck in the window and hand stretched noodles. The fresh noodle soup is amazing.
5) Old Alexandria pub crawl. They say the founding fathers drank at some of these places, who knows, but still fun.

Destin was amazing. I still can't believe the sand there, I've never seen anything like it. We had a great time, the experience is much more laid back than the typical Mexico vacation.

We went deep sea fishing and caught ~70 fish. Mackeral, snappers, trigger fish, and a 7.5' shark.

We fought the shark for ~35 minutes, and got it to the surface. When the deck hand grabbed the line and sinker to pull it next to the boat, it snapped off, so we didn't get our hands on it, but it was still amazing to see.
