That's the most common thing I hear from timeshare owners. "We really like it, but..."
So here's something funny... my grandparents are timeshare people. They own a bunch, and spend the entire winter using them. They talk them up like crazy, and because of respecting your elders or whatever no one ever calls them out on it. They're the only people I've ever met that are adamantly PRO timeshare with no qualifiers. The absolute irony is that my grandfather is an extremely frugal, extremely money-conscious guy... yet they bought timeshares?
Anyways, they let my cousin use one for her honeymoon in Hawaii. To also get a free flight out there and all kinds of other stuff... they decided to pull a Koon and sign up for one of the presentation things we're all talking about. But unlike everyone else's experiences described so far, it actually turned out super pleasant... because when they got there and filled out the stuff, the people discovered that their credit was so bad that they weren't eligible for the timeshare so they told them to not even bother showing up to the presentation and just enjoy the vacation. I guess they didn't check them out ahead of time like is standard operating procedure because it was all booked through my grandparents' timeshare.
Moral of the story: have terrible credit.
