Not only will she owe you big time for going to the presentation all alone, being out at sea has certain implications.......
Lol. I'm not as tough as you, but I will say no.
So it sounds like anyone who's actually done this, no one has regret it. Weird how those who've actually experienced it have a different opinion than those who have never stepped foot.
Do you think someone who did this and actually bought a timeshare or actually lost money is going to come out and tell us? Would not be embarrassing at all...

Actually bought a timeshare and regretted it? Probably not.
Went for the free cruise/gift, didn't lose money, and didn't like it? Yes. I'd share my experiences if I do it.
I already shared this. My mother-in-law did it less than a year ago. She and her sister gave up two timeshares for one shitty timeshare after some heavy selling by a foreign guy with some alcohol.Do you think someone who did this and actually bought a timeshare or actually lost money is going to come out and tell us? So you agree that the scenario we are warning you about is not something you are going to hear from someone who experienced it.
So again, why are you asking for advice? You claim you want to hear from people that have done it but you also concede that the negative scenarios won't be shared. So this is all pointless.
They won't present to someone who doesn't have enough credit to buy the timeshare. I've never heard of one that didn't require a credit card to reserve your space. But I've only been approached by a few.No new credit card. Only thing that requires a credit card, is the hotel in case I make purchases out of the hotel/stocked fridge.
Also, my GF is not required to go to the presentation since I qualify myself - and she still gets the cruise. She will be living with me, but is not on the house title obviously. From the sounds of it, she'd owe me big time to go into the lion's den alone.
I stayed in a time share once. Wasn't mine. It was nice. But the owners hadn't used it in years and just let it go to waste every year. And unless you were staying at the same location you bought in to every year, there was a decent fee to transfer to another property or location. Often times any time you tried booking at the original property it was booked. (It was in a highly desired vacation spot.)Do you think someone who did this and actually bought a timeshare or actually lost money is going to come out and tell us? It wasn't applying to one thru them, it was like a hotel reservation. They won't charge the card but need it to ensure you have funds available. And I'd be more worried in this day and age a shady dude sells the number or uses it.I would be approved for a credit card, but it was never mentioned.

No. I just said I believe someone who went, got the free trip, and didn't spend any money (aka, buy a timeshare), would probably have no problem saying 'ehhh, wouldn't do that again' if that's how they felt. If they sunk money into a timeshare, there's probably embarrassment attached to that, so those are the ones I agreed with you that probably won't respond.
Because I want to know from the people who went just for the free trip, how it went for them. And they've answered - Acamp, NDcruisader, and others.
No - absolutely do not concede to that point of view. Again, difference between 'lost thousands' and 'got a free trip but didn't enjoy my time'.
So record keeping, those that went just for the free trip seem to overwhelmingly see the value. At least so far.
You win. You should go.
For the record, my wife's family (Brother and parents) have time shares and they generally like them... I've actually stayed at a nice resort in New Mexico on her parents time share once, it was great.
Again - if I say no - this is worth it, correct?
Yea, I've read this thread and it really sounds like you didn't want advice, but rather you wanted someone to back up your decision to do this, which is fine, but I would say that I have heard some pretty haunting tales about timeshare "presentations". There's always a catch, getting pretty much locked in rooms, there's always a superior that each salesman wants you to talk to before you go, etc.
If you think that this, along with whatever they potentially try and bug you about or take back even after they let you leave the presentation is worth it, then go for it. I will be awaiting your story upon your return.
Angel Fire? That was the last time I skied. Did the timeshare route there, Purgatory and Wolf Creek in the same 10 day trip. We got 8 nights at the ski resorts and 2 free nights in Taos and Santa Fe for under 2 hrs of my time. That was actually a great trip.
Honest question...what is so bad about owning a time share?
Shrug...my parents have one and have no complaints about it.Everything. No info.

Their main spot is in the Bahamas, but they can trade it for anywhere in the world. They have been to Hawiia, Vegas, Italy with the time share.
Its 90 minutes of
"You need to buy"
"no, I can't afford it"
"we'll drop the price"
No I can't afford it
Its the best investment ever,
No, I can't afford it, haven't you been listening?
You need to buy this for your kids
No, I really can't afford it.
So one week or 2?
You have to stay the total time or you won't get the cert.
Ok, I understand about not wanting to plunck $20k down, but how about $10 for every other year? You need this..
No, I really only came for the free stuff.
You need to but a 1 week vacation to our sister resort in TN
Hey time is up!
Let me have you talk to my manager so he can give you the cert.
Ok, Phew..
Sir, I am the manager, you need a 10k timeshare, I have the paper work ready, sign here or the girl gets sold on eBay.
Ok ok I need it, where do I sign?
When you adjust for risk, maintenance fees, and the time value of money, you're much better off investing the money and paying cash for your vacations.Honest question...what is so bad about owning a time share?
So true. When me and my lady first met, 21 at the time, she got invited to one of these and I accompanied her to see if it was on the up and up. She was being offered, two free plane tickets, I believe, to anywhere in the US. It was hardcore douche central. And the conversation was very much like explained above. We literally walked out once we realized what was going on. Wasted our time and didn't get the free shit. In fact, the turning point was one of the guys started doing some hard core insinuations that I wasn't a man because I wouldn't buy my lady a timeshare, lol. I'd never do it again.
