I thought it would be fun to have a thread to post your interesting hobbies/distractions/whathaveyous of the day.

Some of my own addictions include coffee (roast of the day), tea (sheng, shu, oolong of the day), wet shaving (shave of the day - soap/cream, brush, razor, aftershave, cologne, etc), watches (watch of the day).

Some other fun ones I have seen include shoes, ties, photographs, high end pens, etc.

Be creative! Photos are welcome. The only thing I would ask is that you identify what you are posting about; not everyone knows what Dong Ding Oolong is.

Your username makes sense now. With a "things of interest" thread under your belt, I'd say your're related to Bob D.

Roast of the day

Roast of the day

Today I had Buf Cafe – Rwanda, fresh grind in a porlex burr grinder and brewed with a Bunn machine. Very good coffee.....fruity and full bodied. It seems to magically get better as it cools.

I'm fairly new to truly fresh roasts and grinds, but I don't think I'll be going back to Starbucks anytime soon.

Shave of the day

Shave of the day

Filarmonica #14 EPBD straight razor (Spanish), Rooney Finest badger brush, Martin de Candre soap, Thayer's rose witchazel, alum and a splash of Floris Santal aftershave. This is one of the sharpest and smoothest razors in my rotation and I plan to have it entombed with me when the time comes.

I'm a fan of the throw-some-crap-against-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks method. Hope I'm not the only schmuck to post something as these are among my favorite threads on other forums.

I'd love to contribute, but honestly have no idea what the hell is going on in here.

I don't get it. Why would someone have more than one razor? Not everyone is going to use the same thing, but you find the thing that works best for you then you just roll with it, no?

The only thing that lives by that rule in my house is the wife. Everything else demands variety.

I think somebody probably has too much time and/or money on his hands to be "in" to these things. Three quick questions, did you take your ascot and smoking jacket off to do either one of these things? Were these things done before or after your manicure? What the fuck is a "Thayer's rose witchazel?"

I usually drink Folgers (or 8 O'Clock, when I'm feeling randy)...already ground, in a coffee pot that I'm not even sure of the brand. I don't really shave (I'm usually bearded), but when I do, I like this fabulous razor called a Gillette Sensor Excel, with Gillette shaving gel.

Everybody stay tuned though, I will be rating handkerchiefs and driving gloves later this week.

I like turtles

A Bob Dylan song. I saw The Turtles back around 1966 at the local youth center. 25 cents with a high school ID was the price of admission.

As much as Mr. Zimmerman hates analysis of his lyrics as allegory I view the song as anti-war (Viet Nam), the draft and "America, 'right or wrong.'"

Just scatting mentally.

Dry rub or basting with sauce? Brown eggs or white? Iced or "neat?"

To be or not to be.

Sorry, Tenacious, but you opened a door (perhaps) better left closed. It's now officially the off season and no holds are barred.

Hmmmm

Well since shaving was mentioned......has anyone joined the dollar shave club? I've heard good things so far and razor prices are getting friggin ridiculous. Every time I grab 24 bucks worth of Gillette cartridges off the peg hook at the store I feel like I'm paying the entire stadium sponsorship for the patriots.

Too funny.

I don't want to use the word pretentious Tenacious, but.........
