Still think the media hates Notre Dame?

While there are some specific people in the media who are on record as hating Notre Dame, look at all of the press ND is getting right now. You can hardly watch 5 minutes of a show that is even remotely related to College Football without hearing about Notre Dame. They are cleaning up awards and accolades. The truth is that there was never an anti-ND bias in the media, there was simply a pro-wildly successful bias. And ND was far from wildly successful, in recent times. Enjoy the exposure, but do it with class and dignity, as is befitting the values of Notre Dame.

I have failed at the class and dignity....I mean I've argued with 'bama fans using facts. Obviously I shouldn't do that and prove them wrong in every topic they try to bring up to belittle ND and the team's accomplishments this year.

I just can't agree with this post emphatically enough. Reps.

there are still alot of ppl that cant even entertain the thought of ND beating ALA, without laughing about it...thats 'delusional haterism' at its apex.

I think all the hype is warranted considering ND is undefeated going in to the NC game, with players and coaches picking up award after award.

but all the same hate is still there and thriving, it just getting temporarily drowned out by all the hype. dont be fooled, its all still there.

The media does have an anti-ND bias. However the media loves to beat up on other members of the media even more.

What you're seeing is a backlash to all the homerific attitudes mid/late season against ND. Pundits picking against ND in the USC game, guys talking about Kansas State, Oregon crushing ND but then being exposed as flawed inferior teams, experts questioning if Te'o was even the best defensive player in the nation let alone his own team.

A lot of it was so asinine that voters are distancing themselves from that by giving credit to ND and its players.

Also there's a big SEC backlash this year, a year when SEC huggers were indignant that a 1 loss SEC team deserves to be in the National Championship over a no loss PAC-12 or other conference.

Finally there's the fact that ND had a magical year. Some of Te'o's stats and ND's stats are epic... talking about the best red zone defense in years, the most interceptions in years as well as the low expectations for ND this season starting with Kelly but down to and including Te'o, Golson, converted DBs, lost recruits, lost players etc. When some of these voters took their heads out of their arses and went back to watch the ND games and witness Manti close out games and dominate on defense they saw what was going on.

Also it's a down year for everyone else. Alabama for example is in the BCS title game with maybe their worst team in 4 years... all the Heisman favorites imploded. No coach really did more with less than Kelly and no individual did more to help his team and his entire program than Manti.

I see you just don't get it. You have to go out there and prove it. ND won this year so the awards show was all about ND. The media loves winners they love tradition and they love a great story. If ND beats Bama they will get all the praise, but as of right now the SEC and Bama have dominated the NC game.

kmoose is correct. I believe college football was ripe for a story of college guys again. Manti was the perfect instrument at the right time. Notre Dame was needed to bring college back to semi pro football. Kelly and Eifert get their awards because they simply did the work and did it better than anyone else this year. My biggest surprise has been on talk shows even in the south the little innuations about the sec and recruiting etc. Its like they know there is a cat out of the bag. College football is not an industry just yet- as long as a Notre Dame (or whoever) rises to excellance the college way. This was the payoff tonight at the CFA banquet. If Notre Dame can beat Alabama ( a very big if ) college football will have its reprieve for a spell. The graduation champion ( who has taken on the chin the last 15 years because they try to keep college college) will be the on field champion. To me this is easily the story in sport for 2012. 'Go Irish'.

It takes a pretty small football mind to think Te'o is average at linebacker... i stopped reading at that... Also, I love how the SEC group thinks... it's the same talking points every time.

When it comes to ND, the media just heavily exaggerates in either direction. They love kicking us when we're down just as much as they love praising us when we're good. That's how you get a combination of most non-ND fans thinking the media loves us, and most Irish fans thinking the media hates us.

There is no perfect storm for Notre Dame. It is a continuous storm, just waiting to happen becasue the sportswriters beg for it. Lots of history to fall back on. Just fill in the blanks and they have a "story".

Manti is just above average in almost every category of a linebacker, however he does well in interceptions.

Johnny Mansiel has broken Cam Newtons record for offense, who broke Tebows (you Christians gonna hate him now?), in two less games and sat 9 (nine) quarters while doing it. The only reason he would not win the Heisman is because of Notre Dame's past, not what they acheived this year. Manit is riding coat tails of your "history".

I know, you have had a really good season. However like Rome said (and Aggies don't care for Rome)

"Take Manti away from Notre Dame, and they are still good. Take Manziel away from Texas A&M, and they are Missisippi State."

We hear "the best player on an undefeated team" ad think it is a TEAM award. Truth is it is the most OUTSTANDING PLAYER in college football.

Sorry, it is not your above average linebacker. He is pretty darn good.

Our QB is a direct affect on how well our team did in the TOUGHEST confernce in the Country, while breaking Cam Newton's record, who broke Tebow's record for total offense. In two games less than Cam. Furthermore, he sat for 9 quarters less than those two games because the games were totally in control for the Aggies.

Congrats, Domers on a great season, but not every award should be yours because you think it should.

In reality, the Aggies are the hottest team in the nation at the end of the season, save for the tile games. I truly wished it was the Aggies against the Notre Dame for the title.

Would love for us to play for it all.

Since we cannot, ROOLLLL TIDE! The Aggies will be their only blemish on the Tide's near perfiect season.

Your Dumb, stop being lazy and finish the mission statement :

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust ensures the continuation and integrity of this award. The Trust, furthermore, has a charitable mission to support amateur athletics and to provide greater opportunities to the youth of our country. Our goal through these charitable endeavors is for the Heisman Trophy to symbolize the fostering of a sense of community responsibility and service to our youth, especially those disadvantaged or afflicted. All assets of the Trust beyond the expense of maintaining the annual presentation of the Heisman Memorial Trophy are reserved for such charitable causes. The Trustees, who all serve pro bono, are guided by a devotion to college football and are committed to community service and the valued tradition which the Trophy represents.

AZZ Giggles is a pillow biting term.

Heard it's terminal. My condolences.

Whatever gets your rocks off.

By the way, it's 12:12 a.m. on December 7, 2012 and Manti Te'o from THE University of Notre Dame is STILL the most decorated athlete to ever go through the Division Uno ringer 12-0. Chew on that fact for a while SEC honk.... Drink it in....

Damn, it feels so good to be so relevant.

TAMU's success is all Sumlin. Without him, they are a 7-8 win team. Get over yourself and get over Manziel.

I like Johnny...he's a great baller. He certainly can lift his team... but those 2Ls loom large...and then two beatch wins against teams I could play for......thats like 1/3 of the season that doesn't support your boy being superman. AS well his signature win came against a flat Bama team...fortunate scheduling for A&M. Johnny might win the Heisman, and I'd be ok with it...but if he doesn't, there is plenty to support why he didn't w/o referenceing the ghosts at ND.

AND THE KID GOT ****ING ARRESTED!!! THAT GOES AGAINST EVERYTHING THE HEISMAN IS SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR!!!

I don't get how this is being brushed over by everyone outside the friendly confines of IE. It should be a no brainer that JF doesn't win. He shouldn't even be in the running due to that 1 simple fact.

Title 2014,

How's your Mormon ( and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that as I voted Romney) saviour handling all those trophies. Doing well I am sure.

Like Rocket Ishmael? Almost as good? Or better?

Part of the issue America has with ND is hearing about the good Catholic School winnnng, when they openly use other faiths than Catholic to do so. Not sure what the Rocket Ishmael was, but Te'O is mormon, which is considered a cult by the Catholic Church, like most other Christian religiions thanks to the current Pope.

Everyone in this room is now dumber for having tried to understand your incoherent rambling.

And how is it hilarious that he was wasted, underage, in a bar, with half naked girls? I get that he is young and it's college and everything else that goes with it. I'm certainly not one who can throw stones. But we are talking about an award that asks for players to be outstanding players and exemplary individuals. I'm not saying JM is a bad kid but when he is measured side by side with an outstanding person like Te'o, these facts should be the end of the conversation.
