A couple of years ago I announced that daughter #2 and her husband were expecting their 2nd child (they already had a 2-year-old daughter). Unfortunately, she miscarried shortly afterwards. This afternoon she had a 7 lb. 1 oz. baby boy. Mom & son are doing great, my son-in-law is very chuffed, and I have a grandson.

Happy to hear it Bishop

Me: I'm going as Chase Young for Halloween because he's one scary monster.

8 year old: Dad, that might be the worst ever.

This will be my first Halloween going out with my son and wife. He is 18 months old but we are looking forward to it. We are all dressing up as vampires. I’m not much of a costume fan but the wife is making me haha

A Couple of the granddaughters 10 & 8 were over the other day. They're telling grandma and me what they are going as. I tell them I'm dressing up and they get excited and ask me what I'm going to be? When I tell them I'm going as a grandpa, the 8 year old looks at me and says., "That sucks!" lol

Been off IE awhile due to the birth of #2.

We named him Walter, and he came out at 10 pounds. Very large boy. Close to 20 pounds at 3 months now. Id say his floor is Jeff Faine, and his ceiling is Quenton Nelson.

Missed this, but congrats! I'd say your boy could join my bruisers on ND's OL, but they will have just graduated by the time your son gets there! They can carry on the legacy.

Reps to all the dads that have shared stories!

I wasn't particularly motivated to carve pumpkins last night.

My wife and son wanted to carve pumpkins.

So we compromised, and I carved pumpkins while they relaxed in pajamas in bed and watched Hotel Transylvania.

We are carving pumpkins tonight... but I'm looking forward to it.

Also, for Steelhead, I was 10 pounds 4 oz and I am lengthy and skinny and was constantly trying to put on playing weight. So the floor is actually a skinny DB who ends up charmin soft.....

I love Halloween, and I love carving my yearly ND and UC pumpkins.

Yesterday was just a long day, so I petitioned to do it tonight, but my wife wanted to do it and my 3yo got hooked on the idea of scooping out the pumpkin guts, so I lost the battle lol.

I may be 37, but my hand just hurts seeing all these artistic pumpkins on IE and Facebook that people do! I need to get a job where I'm not at a keyboard all day.

Cut lid off. Extract seeds. Rinse, dry, and roast seeds. Eat seeds. Poop sharp hulls.

Allow me to turn this into the Irish Envy Grandpa thread for a minute.

My oldest Granddaughter is a junior and plays volleyball at D3 Trine University. Yesterday she was named ALL MIAA and led the team to their first ever appearance and win in conference tournament play.

From the press release....
Madison Munger ends the season ranked third in the nation (4th all divisions) with 508 kills and sixth with 4.46 kills per set while also leading the MIAA in both statistics. She also came in second on the team with 288 digs while adding 22 service aces and 40 total blocks.

Her kill total for this season is a single-season record for the Thunder since the team joined NCAA Division III. She also picked up the 1,000th kill of her career this past weekend against Saint Mary's, becoming just the fourth Thunder member to reach the mark in the team's NCAA era.

Earlier this season Munger picked up the first MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week honor of her career after a week in which she recorded 53 kills in just three matches including a three-set match against Capital University where she came away with 17 kills on a .244 hitting percentage.

Nice little school. I was impressed with facilities. They've invested heavily they last 5 years or so. Just opened a new gymnasium, but the VB teams still play in the old gym. What was your major? She's studying forensic chemistry. Yeah, brains, athleticism and looks. she's dangerous. lol

I was accounting and business management double.

They had just started pumping the money in during my time. First two years it was still Tri-State. Last 2.5 it was Trine. The new football stadium was built the season after I left but they had already built quite a few new apartment style housing and fraternity houses along with the student center across from the football field. The ARC was just built for my last year as well but I believe it has changed purposes a little since then.

Definitely has great facilities.

The new gym (MTI Center) is really nice.

7 yr old: Dad, now, don't get mad, but...

Me: Stop right there. Worst way to start a sentence. Ease your way into it and tell me what got broken or ruined. If you go negative right off the get go, I'm immediately agitated. Delay the agitation and deliver the bad news in the middle or end. Never in the beginning.

7 yr old: Okay. Dad, can I tell you something?

Me: No.

Wife and oldest are going away this weekend so it's just me and the the youngest (seven). I have wanted to watch Field of Dreams with her for a while now so I ask her if she wants to have a Daddy/Daughter movie night on Saturday,... she's all in. I tell her there is a couple of movies (Rudy being the other one) that daddy wants to share with her, she's all in... I tell her which movies they are...

"Can we watch Frozen instead??"

Been there! I've been slowly sharing my NES and SNES collection with her since she was in Kindergarten, but last summer I tried to get her to play Final Fantasy III(VI in JP) after she loved FF II and Secret of Mana...and she kind of dismissed it to play Minecraft on her tablet instead. I was crushed!
