IrishLion Cub #2 made her arrival earlier today... baby and momma are healthy and doing well.

Now she gets to watch her first football game with daddy tomorrow while mom gets an early afternoon nap.

She couldn't wait two days to share a birthday with me? hmmm

Congrats Lion!

Your wife went into labor on game day and you still went to the hospital with her?

Best wishes to you all today!

Don't know if I shared this before. Our third child (2nd son) was born on 1/1/1981. This was before it got trendy to do the whole nine yards in one room, but dads were going into the delivery room. Of course my wife decides to go into serious contractions right before kickoff of the Sugar Bowl (ND/UGA). I'm dyeing inside but try not to show it. I was lucky enough to catch the second half while she went to recovery. The little tyke grew up to be a great ND fan.

So my almost four year old has been asking a lot of questions about Jesus lately when she made the connection between the crucifix that we see in church and the crucifixes in the various rooms in our home. Some of the things she says are pretty hilarious but last night she dropped a heartbreaker. She looked at my wife while we're sitting at the dinner table, says "Mommy, when I die I'm going to meet your daddy with Jesus in heaven" with the most cheerful look on her face you could possibly imagine while shoveling rice into her face.

yeah, mine has done that too about her 'papa' (my father)... on a side note my wife just accepted a huge job in El Paso so we are splitting the family soon until I get a job out there. The youngest is prob staying with me, either option makes her cry and makes us both feel like garbage...

Straw poll: who you voting for, Mom or Dad?

Mom wins 3-0.

"Mom is going to move bed time up 30 minutes and cut back on chocolate milk. Dad will move bed time BACK 30 minutes and increase spending on chocolate milk. And fruit snacks."

Straw Poll 2: Dad 3-0

In the spirit of this time of year, the lesson is clear: Lie.

Well done.

Since we don't have an IE Grandfather thread. My granddaughter is sitting outside of my office working for her grandpa. Pretty cool IMO. She's doing some data gathering and cleanup for our website. She said it's boring. She's studying Forensic Chemistry in college. lol

Forensic Chemistry? Interesting. May I ask the College? My eldest daughter is pursuing virtually the same. I've posted this before and it appears her best options are University of Boston (Medical), Syracuse University or University of New Haven. She has recently written her GRE for the U.S., has English, French and Spanish (studied in a University in Spain for a semester) and has a BSc in Biology. From my recent experience/observations, it's really tough out there for our kids. Really hope she gets her school but there is a ton of competition (likely due to a lack of jobs).

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Cheers and Go Irish!!

I took my 7-year-old to our town's annual father/daughter dance tonight. I'd never been before and had no idea it was this big of a deal. There were over 100 "couples" there. This was like prom for elementary school girls with dozens of 5-10 year old girls all dressed up and a dozen or so middle school girls there teaching them dance moves. After it was over, my daughter said it was the best night of her life. This was one of those truly special, memorable moments. Having daughters is great.

Very cool! My daughter is 8 and we've never gone, but the last time they had one I didn't get the info till the week after the dance. I'll have to take her next time.

Those have become very popular over the past 5-10 years. It’s truly a special moment for daughters. It’s an opportunity to tell them: “You’re good at...” “I see you doing...in the future” “I’m proud of you for...”, etc. The best advice I ever received was to “date your daughter”. Take her out on little dates so she understands what to look for in a boyfriend/husband in her future. It will show her what to expect & hopefully give her confidence to not tolerate any disrespect or lack of character from someone she’s dating in her adult years.

Girls (& boys) need their daddy in their life regardless of the marital situation.

Not here, sadly. They used to happen all the time when I was in grade school ~20 years ago, but now they're not allowed because they're "offensive" to people without whichever parent.

Shame. Someone should have the balls to put them together and have them anyways.
