The First Coat...

Of my boys batting helmet, turned Domer Bucket. It looks so sweet. I can't wait to see it in the sun. Once done with coating it, I'm putting the lep or clover on either side and clear coating the hell out of it. He's going to love this christmas present.

Sometimes I think it's funny that we complain about how gaudy everyone else's uniforms are and we're the ones that came up with the idea to put gilded gold on our helmets back in the day. (don't know the year sooooo quiz time! When did the gold helmet get introduced?)

Seriously man what brand of paint did you use? I've tried to do that before but it always ended up being way too dull. That looks perfect.

I put down 2 primer coats in white and then went with Krylon Metallic Brilliant Gold. Thanks.

Rumor has it Phammer knows where they keep the old gilded gold flakes (I'm not talking about Mike nor dshans!) Maybe you can work out a vbucks deal ...

This is, sincerely, one of the best posts I've ever seen here. My kids are all grown up now, but this brings back so many memories of this kind of stuff I used to do for them when they were kids (especially my son). Your boy will not only think this so cool now, but will remember what his "dear old dad" did for him for the rest of his life. Great job, man!
