This is the second time I have read that Rees is subbed once in the redzone. Does anyone think this may be Kelly's plan?
Most likely it is his plan. That's what I would do. Obviously once inside the redzone the field is shorter, and Hendrix is a good scrambler and inside the redzone would be his expertise. Hendrix is an option quarterback so it would only make sense to make defenses try to protect against the pass AND the option. Just my opinion.

High minds think alike!?! I like this idea alot too. It is looking more and more like no one had best Rees out, which ki am ok with. But he struggled the most in the redzone. Enter Hendrix or Golson and our playbook expandso with zone reads and scrambling forcing defenses to play us more honest.
I don't agree with subbing Rees out once we get into the redzone for an unproven QB. I just don't see the genius behind driving a team inside of field goal range, and then putting in a new signal caller who has different chemistry with the O-line, backs, and WRs, has a different timing to his cadence, and hasn't exactly shown the he can make the touch passes. Sounds like a recipe for turnovers, false starts, and missed points. For the record, I don't think Rees should be in there in the first place.

I get what you're saying and in some ways agree with you, but if it's done on basically a permanent level, then I don't think it'll be that big of deal transitioning QB's back and forth. If Hendrix is the red zone QB, has a package of plays (the playbook shrinks by default here anyway because of the loss of real estate to run plays), and the team practices it throughout the preseason and season, then I think it can pretty seamless to bring a different guy in.
Lombard has solidified starter at RT. only position in question is rg between nick Martin and golic. Either way our line is going to be a huge strength.
Agreed my superhero friend. Mega Reps coming to you.
Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice....

Edit/sidenote: I like this idea somewhat if Rees ultimately becomes the QB. I still have concerns though with Rees' inability to throw a deep ball (or, let's face it, more than a 15 yard pass) concerning the other ~80 yards of field.

Did you watch the Tebow/Leak national championship team at Florida? That's how I imagine it being used except with Hendrix having more complete package of plays at his disposal. I think it's a brilliant idea because Tommy "Little Hands" Rees has shown no ability to take care of the ball in the redzone nor does he possess any running threat. And it forces teams to gameplan for 2 QBs.
I'm not saying you pull Tommy for Andrew every time you get in the red zone; but I think it's really important to develop this package in case Tommy doesn't correct his turnover issues this year.
What happen to Nichols I thought he would be the starter at RT and Lombard RG.

That update scares the living hell out of me.
From reading that, it sounds pretty clear that Kelly wants Golson the starter but he won't just step up.
Rees refuses to take his starting job.
Hendrix even says he is nowhere near where he needs to be.
And Kiel sounds like a HS sophomore.
I am suddenly dreading our upcoming season unless they change things very quickly...

huh? I didn't get that anywhere from that article. "Very good but raw" doesn't equal HS sophmore.
And Hendrix just sounds like he understands he's got learning to do, but he's doing it.
But like I've said, I want it to be either Kiel or Rees. For me, that's the way forward for ND football.
Reread the part near the end about Kiel's plays. His small completion would have probably gotten the WR killed in a real game. Now HS Sophomore might be a little overboard, but he clearly sounds like he didn't know what in the world was going on.
@HCTI
I'm not jumping ship. But that article was troubling, or at least should be to all of us.
How can you have your starting QB from last season not try and take the reins and his starting job back?I'm sure it happens, it's just weird to me.
From the highlights I have seen including one in this video, Jalen Brown looks absolutely awful; note to never take praise during a speech as actual evaluation, Floyd was just being nice
