Happy and a safe St. Patty's to all. With today being a national holiday and the start of March Madness, it really pisses me off that I didn't purposely fail a couple of classes in college to stay longer. Big kid jobs suck.

Didn't know whether to pick the English post option, or the Gaelic post option. Since I don't speak the Gaelic, chose this one, but I must admit the other thread is cooler. So, I am suffering "Irish Envy." Anyway, Happy St. Patrick's day to everyone.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May The Fighting Irish return to glory.

I heard on the local news today that the actual color associated with St. Patrick's Day was not green but blue. Don't remember why or why they changed it, but a little tidbit of knowledge for you.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!

Currently watching the '92 Snow Bowl, then the '05 ND/USC game, and then the '93 ND/FSU game on Versus. Classic stuff, folks!

The color blue is associated with St. Patrick and I suppose his religious feast day in Ireland.

Green is associated with the Irish diaspora. Irish expatriates in the British army celebrated St. Patrick's day in America (NYC) originally wore a sprig of green to commemorate the banning of the color green by the English during their 700 years of genocidal occupation. The "wearing of the green" was one of many things the English banned. The Brits viewed wearing green as a mark of rebellion.

A local news team set up for their coverage of the annual St. Patrick's Day parade in Minneapolis outside of Brit's Bar & Restaurant. An insensitive and unthinking move on their part.

Especially since an establishment, The Local, owned by an Irish native, is across the street and less than a block away.

The Local has the distinction of selling more Jameson Irish Whiskey than any other establishment in the world. Rock On, Minneapolis!

Why couldnt they have played the 06 UCLA game rather than the BS bush push game....seriously It was a close game but why??? If youre going to honor the New England Patriots you dont play Super Bowl XLII. If you wanna honor the green bay packers dont play super bowl XXXII. I just dont get it not to mention (and some may call it sour grapes but I dont care) Is it just me or did that game really just give us false hope? Think about it after that game we gave charlie a bunch of money to have one more good year then pretty much fail. I dunno I wasnt at the game but to me despite proving that we werent the laughinstock we had been the previous two years that game was just awful because it just doesnt matter unless you get a W

Exactly! or the MSU game...don't remember the year, where we finally beat em with an interception at the last second! I don't get it...honor the Irish with the most heartbreaking unbearable game in recent history. Who came up with that? What about the 2010 game where WE BEAT THEM?!

those games couldnt be played because ABC and ESPN owns the rights to them not NBC which is why I said UCLA But I do like those games :)

Because NBC is trying to show objectivity, like they do with everything involving ND. That's why the announcers are told to be impartial and are people with no connections to ND (hell, our color guy for years graduated from our main rival!).

Yeah, the SC game stings big time, but it was a phenomenal game, and I guarantee you replaying that game brought bigger ratings than any other game would have (and remember, it's ALWAYS about $$$), especially the UCLA game. You forget, but that was an AWFUL game - UCLA was not a good team and ND played to the level of its opponent. Only the ending was great.

I used to remember what CRS meant, but I forgot, and my eyes are too bad to look it up. Tells you what crowd I am in.

I don't recollect CRS. That could be because I'm in the 40++ crowd. Either that or too many Grateful Dead concerts and Mr. Owsley Stanley's* contributions to society.
