Kerry Cooks calls Bennett Jackson "as talented as any cornerback I've ever coached."

Wow... what a positive statement by your coach! That at least should mean that the measurables and the practice field eye-test are there. Let's hope that these translate into good in-game play. If so, we may not be as troubling at corner as everyone expects. Waiting to see this play out....

I really like that Austin Collinsworth got a shoutout from Elliot. He's going to need to have a big year for us to be successful.

I think it should be mentioned that over the last couple of seasons ND has fielded a rather respectable secondary. Sure it wasn't to Alabama's standards. But Blanton, Walls, Gray, H. Smith, etc were not terrible. It would've been difficult for any new comer to unseat them. With that said, Brown, Atkinson, Jackson, and Wood have not played a significant amount (if any) reps at this position. For me personally, I plan to keep positive that while these newbies will have some growing pains, they may not be as bad as some seem to think. I'm glad Cooks is talking up Jackson. At the very least it will give him confidence. Floyd's spoke highly of Brown last year as well. Moral of the story...I think ND will be alright (barring injury *knock on wood*).

Great to hear about Cooks' high praise for Bennett. I always expected him to be at least an adequate corner; now I'm daring to hope he'll be an outstanding one. Of course you need at least two good corners though, and I'm still worried about the other one. Lo Wood/Jalen Brown/Josh Atkinson/Cam McDaniel -- show me something.

wood hopefully is a last resort. i wasnt a big fan of either corner last year, so in my eyes new is better. As long as the cbs arent depending on Motta to take a proper angle to cover their mistake it should be fine.

As far as practices go, when i start reading that Rees isnt getting 1st team reps ill be more excited.

I am admittedly not an expert on QB mechanics, but am I right in thinking Kiel's footwork looked far and away better than the other 3?

The difference in quickness as compared to Golson and Hendrix seemed negligible, but unlike Golson he seemed to be completely in control the whole time. His feet were always shoulder width and he looked like he could throw accurately at any time during the drill.

I know it was just one look but... anyone else get that?

im not sure if i noticed the same thing as you in the same way. heres what i saw:
tommy looked good and ball came out quick

then andrew went and was FASTER at the footwork and had a good snap with the ball

Golson looked fluid/fast but had to look at his feet, at least once. so, thats suggests a tad out of control.

Kiel looked pretty composed and under control.

all (3) went through the drill faster than tommy.

I'm also not an expert, but I thought that Golson looked the best. Maybe that is just because he is so much quicker than anyone else.

Lynch on Te'o

He's my big brother...encouraging...always there.

Coach Booker really likes his group of TEs and feels it can be the strength of the offense every game and practice.

Coach Martin looking for players to demand playing time by the way they practice.

Coach Martin likes Kiel a ton but still has a long way to go with reading coverages.

I think we have the athletes to have pretty good corners. Right now, it is simply the experience that worries me and the good thing is that our first two games will allow the corners to make some mistakes without costing the us game (*cough* Michigan).

Aaron Lynch on intensity:

Honestly every year I"m going to get some yellow flags. Because that's how I play football.

"Aaron Lynch on the mindset he shares with Stephon Tuitt on the field..."

Alright. I need to get me a flux capacitor.

I'm ready for Ireland.

My biggest concern with our secondary is with the 2's not the 1's. If we see an injury to Bennett where do we stand? You would hope that a major D1 team can have two starting corners, the question marks arise with our depth.

Scott Booker seems like the man. Who knows if he can coach, but he is silky smooth in front of the camera.
