Goody has good speed. Just because he couldn't juke around the five guys that were always waiting for him on punt returns due to nonexistent blocking doesn't mean he's not a good WR. He has great hands, good speed, and great size. Not to mention he's a fantastic guy and everybody on the team and on campus loves him.

Guess its OK to over look the fact he hasn't won a spot in 4 years? Please don't say it was because he was behind Floyd. The best WR's start. If he was that good he would have been given more PT. I hope he ends up an amazing WR this season. If he doesn't then it will be because some are better. He earned a 5th year and that's about it so far. I recommend you hold out just a bit to judge the situation. Maybe, just maybe, you can come on here in September and call most of us jokers. By all means, I would love it.

For a guy with all these great attributes, one would think he would have produced at some point in 4 years already on the team...

Not to mention the fact that he takes responsibility for ****ing up his season last year (watch is interview after the first practice.) If he really gets it, and has half the senior reality wake up call that one guy did last year, we are going to be nominating him for the Jonas Gray Senior Productivity Award.

When media walked in Rees was running with first team and went 3-4. Golson was in next and fumbled two snaps in a row....

Why isn't it adequate to say he didn't start because he was behind Floyd? They played the same receivers spot. It's not like Goody can play slot, and Floyd was the best receiver in the country. TJ started over Goody, but TJ has the potential to be great. All I'm saying is that people have been talking some major $hit about Goody as if he were some scrub like Deion Walker. Goody was second string and I think the fact that Kelly trusted him on fair catches says a lot. I think he'll be great.

Valid point, but I think he'll surprise a lot of people. As long as Rees isn't starting, the ball will be spread around, and he'll have a great season.

I think with Rees taking snaps as the #1 is just a way for the coaches to say "hey you were the starter last year. You get the first shot to take the spot, but if someone shows more you are out."

I would see nothing wrong with that, I also don't think he can hold on to either though.

Rees snapped off a 40 yard run apparently...

Actually just read on ISD from one of the guys in attendance that it was closer to 60 yards and came off of a read option.

TJ won the spot because of more potential? Like I said, hope I'm wrong and you're right.

Theo had a couple of long runs. One 70 yard, one 25.

Tate Nichols was impressive against Lynch.

I see Rees still being the starter this year. You can't remove him as the starter unless someone plays better than him in practice and I don't see that happening. Doesn't seem like Golson is helping himself by fumbling snaps.

Lo Wood was pretty solid and had a couple break ups. Goodman had some catches and was praised by Kelly and Denbrock. Jarrett Grace had a good day with some good run fits.

And reading now Jalen Brown was out of position a few times leading to Theo and Tommy's long runs.

2 of the snaps were on Hegarty. Really struggled with snapping according to ISD. I do agree though that the main reason Golson sat last year was ball security. Will need to tighten that up.

I think the much more pressing issue right now is that Rees had a long run against our first-team defense. I almost cried when I read that. With Golson fumbling snaps, things aren't looking good for starting QB.

How long was practice? Judging by Rees's speed my calculations say his run would have taken 10 minutes.

That was funny! I see the guys in the dark room with burlap sacks and sticks has moved threads again.

The bolded was my immediate concern also. Even if somebody (did somebody say Hardy?) was out of position, it's hard for me to imagine a quarterback that struggled to gain three or four yards against defenses last season being able to pick up 40-60 against our first team.

That being said, I'm not overly concerned with our QB situation nor our first team defense...yet. It's only the third practice of the spring and it's not worth reading too much into it even if I wish things were trending differently.

Anyways, back to Goodman. Some of you scoffed when I said he was one of the fastest receivers we had. He is. Stop with your reverse bigotry or man crushes and take a look. Also I said last year that Luke Massa would play at wide receiver, and many of you scoffed. Both of these guys are playing damn good ball! And what does that do to our receiver corps? TN 6'7, TE 6'6", BK 6'6", JG 6'3", AW 6'4", DS 6'4". More? All of these guys can be put in mismatch situations because of the speedy guys that can break long or make a play from underneath. And some of these big guys are speedier than the average bear. Back to where I started from with JGoodman!

Even the slower bears can cruise at 30mph, no?. I'd like to see Goodman do that.

Let's face facts, he isn't very good. He catches the ball and immediately tries some slowwww juke move and never, ever gets free.

I cannot physically or mentally go through another season of Turnover Tommy being the starting QB.

Golson noticeably not happy with his performance during interviews after practice. When asked if he thought he could be the starter there was a long pause...

@BGI_DanMurphy: #NotreDame QB Gunner Kiel on getting a taste of Brian Kelly's wrath: "A little bit. I don’t think I’ve gotten the full red face look yet.
