So it sounds like they are being accused of and investigated for 1) in-person scouting future opponents, 2) actually filming the sideline in the process, and 3) using electronic devices to communicate with UM's sideline during games. Spicy.

It's past time to move to helmet communications with the sideline. With modern information science it's too easy and tempting to break the rules on sideline signals.

Hopefully this is a warning shot for that clown that coaches Oklahoma
Why would he stop? they'll just be more careful. Lay low for a bit and reassess, then keep on keeping on.

Patriots. Astros. Now this. They'll all just re-evaluate what they're doing and switch it up a bit.

This is the win at all costs culture everyone seems to clamor for but holds their noses when something like this happens. Not to mention how brazen society outside of sports has become in general now when it comes to truth and following the law. Glory hogging and greed. They go hand in hand. Winning equates to more dollars.

How many times did we hear "if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'" growing up? Always felt like it was only half kidding.

I mean, look at this freaking headline.... "Who’s crying to the NCAA about Michigan stealing signs? Here’s a prime suspect"
Sam Webb and EJ Holland can both f off
F michigan
They are going to regret this big time after the hammer drops. This is not a small ticky-tacky foul.

Huge difference between cracking a code in realtime during the game vs. an organized program of cheating/stealing info/recording.

I fully expect the NCAA to complete their investigation just in time for Michigan to be suspended from the 2030 College Football Playoffs.

Look we all know that scUM is guilty, the question is what is the proper punishment? I think the Death penalty is too easy for them. Cut their schollies permanently by 35 so they still have to play every game but will get humiliated week after week.

The loathesome pieces of shit at the NCAA need to move fast to prevent a playoff run this year.

I am skeptical that anything but a slap on the wrist comes of this.

As long as the military bro didn’t leave an obvious paper trail that leads to Hairball’s knowledge, the NCAA will fiddle fart around, give the guy that would never work for any other institution anyway a show-cause, and then reduce their on-field analyst capacity by one or two analysts.

I don’t expect this to result in vacated wins, as scUM will either fight it or plead the fifth, and the NCAA won’t have authority to do much besides things directly related to the guilty dude and his position.

As ND knows well by now: DON’T COOPERATE WITH THE NCAA. They don’t give bonus points or take it easy just for your cooperation.

Disagree, classic LOIC. This is worse cheating than Spygate. They will surely vacate wins, and probably be fined. You can’t say “Harbaugh didn’t know” when all the coaches in the Big Ten knew and will go on record about how they knew.

If the rumors are true, this involves payment of money to third parties which is going to mean paper trails.

The interesting bit is if he refuses to turn his bank records over to the NCAA. They don't have subpoena power.

Of course Harbaugh knew. The dude was standing on the sideline telling the coaches what the plays were going to be.
Maybe Harbaugh didn’t know every dirty detail of how this guy knew what he knew, but the basics? It defies belief that he wouldn’t. The question is how big a deal this is.

That would still be lack of institutional control if a paid member of Michigan’s staff was receiving/helping direct payment from a booster to another party for the purpose of illegal scouting, no?

You can curse (to some degree) but using derogatory terms towards other posters has always been a rule and when it crosses a line we make note of it.

It's easy to just issue a warning through our system which usually isn't a big deal, but if you have racked up 3 or more in a short time period it can lead to a temporary ban.
