Average 10 wins, still get fired. And we thought ND expectations were high.

If there was another coach out there that had been 110-32 over the past 11 seasons, he would likely be at the top of their list to go after to replace Miles..they already have one of the best and most consistent coaches in America. The decision to fire him would just be stupid for lack a better explanation.

God I hope not.

Why wouldn't you want that? LSU succeeds in spite of him. His strength is recruiting. He's a poor gameplanner, bad playcaller, and can't adapt worth a damn. USC is going to get top talent regardless of who's coaching there. The big difference is their ability to coach. I'd love to have Les there. That would be a slam dunk for ND as far as I'm concerned.

anyone see SVP last night after MNF discussing all the college coaching vacancies already, the Les Miles situation etc?

he was on right point...this will be craziest year yet with the "carousel", with little of the changes actually helping any of the teams.

Hearing it is a done deal and will be announced next week.

So much for Memphis trying to make him the highest paid Tier 2 football coach.

Don't blame him - if you have any aspirations to make a name for yourself in college football you get out of these teams while you're hot....what better year to get a premier program than now.

Yeah I agree. Still no credible sources to confirm the hire but if true, that's a solid pick up for Va Tech IMO.

I didn't think they were aloud to talk to other coaches durning the season?

It's usually done through the back door with agents. That's been one of the sticking points at USC. Apparently Pat H. wants to talk directly to schools, coaches, etc and he can't right now. I guess he is stuck in the past when it comes to how coaches are hired.

Going to be an interesting coaching carousel this year. I agree that Les going to USC wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. He could be the second coming of Kiffin, better defensively, worse offensively, still horrible play calling. He does have a knack for recruiting, but look at the bowl game last year...LSU was the favorite coming in, yet they struggled against our injured roster because of scheme. Les had to pull out a lot of trick plays just to stay in the game, despite the fact it was Fournette's coming out party. I was surprised how desperate Les was in that game, and maybe he dominates at USC, but I think BK would out coach him again.

Led miles at USC would be a home run hire IMO. He has ties to the south and then all the studs in California. If he could get a desent QB which I doubt would be a problem that would be bad news for everyone else.

Hell with said Miami could be a good spot too. Only 3 good team other then Miami would be Clemson, fsu and every 4 yr ND.

Les Miles at USC would kill it. Think of all the stud QBs he'll be able to recruit by pointing to his stellar track record of superb QB play, development, and awesome playcalling.

I can't imagine USC hiring Miles. They don't need his recruiting ability, as they generally get their pick of top west coast recruits anyway. The guy's an atrocious developer of talent, play caller, and game planner... plus Miles is too old to stay there for a decade or more, and Hayden needs to make a homerun hire of a real up & comer coach who'll lead them back to glory and stay there for years.

Honestly after what happened with Sarkisian I can't say I blame him.

LSU would be crazy to fire Les Miles but if they do and I'm him I take a year off, hone my persona in broadcasting, and be first in line for the various big-time jobs that inevitably open next year.

USC's probably not the right fit and he could do better than most of the rest. Unless Miami decided to go all-in. That'd be something to watch.
