Lou at BGI posted that they are hearing the ACC is going to let us only play 4 ACC games next year with Wake being dropped.

Also, there is increased interest and movement in making Louisville the opponent in Indy rather than Purdue.

That would be even better, it would be a pro ND crowd but Louisville would travel well for that game. Whoever ND plays ill be there

ND vs. Louisville in Indy not so bad. Would like to see a game in Houston....very fertile recruiting, or in New Orleans.

Still don't grasp the economics of playing in Indy. ND gives up the revenue benefits of a game on campus.

Going to in cool for the couple of instate people that will save a couple of hours driving to S.B. But they and all those who travel half a day or more miss a trip to campus. It does nothing for the nationwide fanbase.

Recruitingwise it actually gives up benefits. Not a hot or new territory and the local recruits will be going to S.B. games anyway.

It would be great to see a game in Chicago for the series every 2-3 years. Always great recruiting area and close proximity to ND. Need to grab some of the high Midwest recruits.

I think it's more the product of the scheduling crunch than a miscalculation on Swarbrick's part.

Here's a map I made showing the concentrations of Kelly commitments, the darker blue the more recruits from that specific area:

For reasons you've stated, the Shamrock game in Indianapolis doesn't do much. I think the obvious play is Texas, Texas, and more Texas.

I'd like to see Houston, St Louis, Tampa, New Orleans, Jacksonville all get a Shamrock Series game in the future.

Houston- NFL stadium, its in a recruiting hotbed, potential opponent TCU
St Louis- NFL stadium, its in a very Catholic area, potential opponent Missouri
Tampa- NFL stadium, its in a recruiting hotbed, potential opponent ???
New Orleans- NFL stadium, recruiting hotbed, potential opponent Ole Miss/Arkansas
Jacksonville- NFL stadium, recruiting hotbed, potential opponent ???

I think playing in NFL stadiums is a big deal to a lot of recruits no matter what city it is.

I believe playing decent-good opponents every year could really make the Shamrock Series one of the premier games of the year not just for the Irish but for college football.

New Orleans is a cesspool.

Wait, wait wait ...

Philadelphia has a tasty cheese steak sandwich.

New Orleans has Gumbo, Crawfish Boils, Crawfish Étouffée, Bananas Foster, Jambalya, Po-boys, Beignets, Red Beans and Rice, Muffulettas, Andouille Sausage, etc., etc., etc.

Where ya at?

LOLOLOL, touché. I'd prefer to eat all of those items in a place outside of New Orleans. It's just not on the top of my list of cities to return to. I'd watch a shamrock series game in New Orleans from Philly while eating a cheesesteak for lunch and gumbo for dinner.

Also think a game in Cleveland or Cincy might be worth a try; we recruit well there, it's close enough to SB for students to travel. Rather see those two than Indy.
Thoughts on New Orleans are more centered on the fertile recruiting in that state... ND has pretty much been skunked for a long time. But would much rather see Houston.

This would be interesting to see on a map of where the top recruits in college football have come from. It would show where ND football recruiting is lacking, which would be a good deciding factor into putting a Shamrock Series game there.

Wish this could happen early next year. That would be a bust to ESPN for all the SEC love after this season if we won. I am all for playing a solid SEC team every year because if we win, ESPN would have to praise us all season to make their conference look better. Ole Miss, Missouri, A&M, SC, Florida, Auburn... would like those. Upper ish yet not Bama level every year.

Shitty NFL stadium, True, probably wouldn't want to play us + very little recruiting advantage by going to St. Louis

Yeah it's not like SLU high is sending any recruits to ND. I heard their secondary really sucked a year ago.

LB core was on point though.

On a related note, in case anyone besides me cares Ray Ray just picked up a OU offer, think he is leaning towards Mizzou but he really doesn't know.

For me, the best places for a Shamrock Series are

#1: Houston
#2: Dallas
#3: New Orleans
#4: Washington DC (Landover)
#5: Phoenix (Glendale)
#6: New York City/East Rutherford
#7: Kansas City
#8: Denver

If they ever build a suitable stadium in Birmingham, that would bump up to #1.

Kansas City?

Here the earlier with every NFL stadium on it, and previous Shamrock locations:

Tennessee is probably being overlooked by us all. A good opportunity to get into SEC country, especially the part that isn't overlapped by ACC country (e.g. Georgia/Carolinas/Florida).

While not a priority location, maybe Nashville could be considered vs. Arkansas?

The logic baffles me. If you're going to stick a game in a dome, you don't pick the one in mid September.

So this is the Shamrock series game for next year? They aren't just changing it up and playing this one in Indy and then still going and playing another game somewhere else?
