The ISD guys were asked who from our roster would start for Georgia.

They basically said our entire OL, Wimbush, and ESB on offense. That's pretty dang good.

On defense, only Daelin Hayes at OLB. That gives you some perspective of what type of defense we're looking at Saturday.

Mike Frank said a couple corners might too

Mike Frank said a couple corners might too

Frank did, but Matt Freeman also said no one from our defense would start, and Jamie said just D. Hayes.

So 2/3 think D. Hayes would start.
1/3 thinks no players from D would start.
1/3 thinks D. Hayes and potentially 2 corners start.

Either way, they're loaded on Defense, and it'll be a hell of a test for our OL. Time for the OL to prove if they will live up to their hype.

They put on their shorts like everyone else does. I do think their CB's can be beat one on one. Exploit that and then the field opens up a little more. ND has to be able to run the ball as well. Not necessarily for big averages, but enough to keep the defense honest. Get in second and third and long and them Dogs get hungry. Should be a good one but one I think the Irish can win.

The problem is that the demand was one-sided. The ones with the money to attend this game already had the tickets, the ones looking for tickets on the secondary market were almost exclusively Georgia fans.

According to my ticket broker friend, many lower bowl tickets sold for over $1k... the only people willing to pay that price were Georgia fans, this game isn't worth that market value to most ND fans.

"30 thousand Georgia fans" would be a touch less than 40% so I think that ESPN is pretty darn close to spot on, and probably doesn't even consider people coming up for the game that will try to scalp.

My best friend sold his lower bowl pair for $3000. I don't blame him one bit for doing so.

Well they're dumb because Georgia's corners are less well regarded than Temple's by scouts.

Their front 7 is extremely legit, but where are the top line NFL draft prospects? I only see one total on their front seven (obviously none for their secondary) that is even projected in the top 2 rounds of next year's draft.

Overall they're a top 10ish group on defense but they're not Bama or FSU. Or even Michigan.

Tillery, Daelin Hayes, Nyles Morgan could all start or play significantly for them and it's debatable about their back end whose is better.

No it doesn't. The fact that it's three people's OPINIONS aside, all it means is that their D is more talented than our D. Since those two units will never face each other, it means nothing.

Seriously? You must mean upside Tillery, not the Tillery we've seen for the past 2+ seasons. His performance last week was encouraging, but let's pump the brakes on deeming him UGA front seven worthy.

The Tillery we saw last week was very good. That Tillery is projected by many as a midround NFL draft pick.

There is evidence that Trenton Thompson is better than Tillery; there is no evidence whatsoever that John Atkins is better than him.

A lot of people sucking Georgia's proverbial dick (re: ISD in this case) aren't paying enough attention. They're very, very good on defense. The idea that all of our players "couldn't start" for them though is just stupid as f*ck and obviously wrong.

I agree with the sentiment of your posts regarding our D vs. theirs. I'm just not high on Tillery atm. I guess I need to see him string a few good games together 1st before I trust that he turned the corner. Him playing like a midround NFL pick would mean nothing but great things for our Irish, no doubt. Hope that's the case.

For clarity's sake, I'm not pulling this stuff out of my ass --

There is absolutely nowhere on the entire internet that thinks Georgia's second DT is better than Tillery. Wake up, sheeple.

Also, does Tillery play the same technique as Thompson or the same as Atikins? Which of them plays 3-tech?

EDIT: Can't find where TT plays in UGA's scheme, but he did play 3- in high school mostly as per Scout.

Can I ask why exactly? I guess I can't distinguish why the timing of the game on the schedule would make the punishment different for the penalty.

"good football plays" do not end with a player getting lit up with helmet to helmet contact. Nicco busted into that hole fully loaded with his usual spearing style of play. It was reckless and a penalty to the letter of the law, which I posted below bolded with Nicco's issue on that play.

"No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

Note 1: "Targeting" means that a player takes aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with forcible contact that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball. Some indicators of targeting include but are not limited to:
Launch—a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
• A crouch followed by an upward and forward thrust to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area, even though one or both feet are still on the ground
Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
Lowering the head before attacking by initiating forcible contact with the crown of the helmet"

If you watch the play, I don't see how it is defensible. That is even with not adding the fact that this is Nicco's MO. There are dozens of example on tape of him playing this way. I'm assuming that the refs weren't using his past history in the decision, but if I was a ST coach for an opponent, I would definitely see this in film and let the ref know pregame to watch out for it.

You are always wrong about this. Look at the rest of the targeting calls. How was the RB defenseless? He had the ball and cut back into our safety who was flowing full steam ahead.

Also, you must believe the hit on Durham was targeting, yes? It was helmet to helmet while he was in the act of making the catch, aka - defenseless.

Also, does Tillery play the same technique as Thompson or the same as Atikins? Which of them plays 30-tech?

Tillery plays as close to the same position as Atkins as possible considering different schemes... Atkins is their NT, Tillery is our NG. Georgia runs a 3-4 like we saw at Bama, and we obviously don't. So a lot of this isn't apples-to-apples. Georgia doesn't have a ROVER, etc. but comparing athletes 1-to-1 there's no chance Atkins... a RS senior with no NFL prospects... would be viewed as more talented than Tillery.

Similarly, Nyles Morgan is considered a top 10 ILB prospect for this upcoming draft. Their MIKE is also considered to be roughly that talented when projecting ahead to 2019. So it's disingenuous for anyone to pretend that Morgan "couldn't start" at Georgia when experts think he's equally good as an NFL prospect.

My point is basically that a lot of this crap is sensationalist. There isn't some monumental talent gap. Yeah, Trenton Thompson is a lot better than Bonner but Tillery is better than their NG. Is Daelin Hayes better than their OLB Lorenzo Carter that is projected as a mid-round pick? I don't know, but as an "end" you would certainly put him ahead of their listed DE even though they do different things. Their "SDE" Jonathan Ledbetter is considered a late round pick as a junior... that's better than Jay Hayes, but is it a ton better? The other two players (their JACK and WILL) are so different really than our ROVER and WILL that's hard to compare/contrast. Neither of their players at those positions are considered serious NFL draft prospects though Roquan Smith will probably be drafted in the late rounds per his current projection.

So if you're keeping track... they have one guy (Trenton Thompson) that is definitively better than Bonner. We have one guy (Tillery) that is definitively better than their Nose. Ledbetter is probably marginally better than Jay Hayes. Daelin Hayes = Carter (but you could argue Daelin is better). Nyles = Natrez Patrick (but possibly better).

Sure seems like a wash. Now, their 3-4 front 7 has proven to be more cohesive and effective than ours, and is extremely good as an overall unit. But player-for-player the idea that they're the effing Monstars and we're Toon Squad is very uninformed.

Rewatched ND temple game today, here are my thoughts...
Temple lost their 5 best starters in their front 7 coming into this game.. and with an average of 75th best recruiting class the last 4 years, u can see why ND ran wild on them...that said, wimbush and st brown are scary!.. especially st brown.. wimbush had quite a few moments where he made very bad throws and couldn't go through his progressions, despite all day back there.. running backs didn't impress me, but their OL did, we are going to need to stop the run and rpo, and make wimbush beat us with his arm..
ND defense is still average at best.. they get zero pressure on qb, and are really weak in the secondary... ND linebackers are nothing special
PREDICTION
Fromm will have time, and he will make a lot of easy throws and that will open up the running game.. I believe that in the second half that Chubb and Michel will run wild.. ND is too small and safe in their defense.. and will wear down..
.. now, will that be enough? I don't know, IF notre dame can run the ball effectively, wimbush will put up 28 points at least on our D.. but if we shutdown the run and make wimbush throw, he likes to dump underneath, and we can stop them on third and medium for sure..
Georgia 28, notre dame 24... if our D does its job
To me Notre Dame is a good match up for us.. our strength of running ball and Fromm's with lots of time is a great match up, while ND's strength is running the ball, while our run D is best aspect of our team.. our strengths play to their weaknesses, while their strengths have to go against our strengths.. I feel good about it after rewatching the temple game

Our backs ran for over 300 yards yet hes not impressed with them?

Just the messenger....Paul (my buddy) says 'DawgNation' is where he pulled the info. He says they do this every year to teams outside the SEC. He said go and look on the forum and any team outside of the SEC, the forum always predicts a win.

Paul on the other hand is petrified of this game. He is predicts 38 - 17 Irish.

LOL at people bitching about "disloyal" fans selling tickets for $1000/per coming off a 4-8 season. The most expensive ticket in college football is to watch two teams that combined for 12-13 last season? The stupid ones are the UGA fans pumping the prices up to that, not the sellers. The "loyal" folk by the same logic would not sell any ticket to an opposing fan even for $1 million dollars. An equally logical extension - shouldn't a "loyal" ND fan pay any price to go to every game?

I dont believe for one second that it'll be 30K. I'm sure there will be a lot of them though. It'll look bad as well since red stands out in a crowd.

Remember, Texas @ ND was something similar with about 30k Texas fans. This is bucket list type stuff for a lot of people, and it's basically unavoidable... it's also why I'd prefer neutral site games with a 50/50 split of tickets over these home-and-homes we've been doing. The Wisconsin series that is a home-and-home away from home is maybe the best model.

You should believe it. For any team that hasn't played at ND before or it has been quite a while since they played at ND, expect the opposition to gobble up as many tix as possible. A visit to the Mecca is on every rabid football fans bucket list and if their team is coming to South Bend, they want to be there.

Also another example of why ND is relevant in CFB regardless of what some people like to think.

Bet you didn't search the "dark internet".

Georgia's D all around is better than ND's at the moment. However, each team has to be able to exploit the weakness of each D. Whoever has the most success in this area is going to win. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us play a faster tempo to wear them out so the big boys up front can lay the wood in the second half. Then UoG fans will see we have some legitimate RB's.

My best friend sold his lower bowl pair for $3000. I don't blame him one bit for doing so.

I think "fans" who do that ought to lose their season tickets for life. They obviously have more interest in making money off the tickets than supporting the team.

To a UGA fan? If so, then is he out of the job or something? Otherwise I very much blame him. Eff that guy if he is profiting by putting UGA fans in the crowd. That's a crappy thing to do for a few thousand dollars. Sell them to an ND fan.
