Any chance Jurkovec gets in, or will this be the Book show all second half?

I doubt it, I kinda hope they let BW play all of the first, then go from there. Use this game to clean up some stuff in the passing game and let him work on his timing.
Let Book play the second half.

We get to play Jurkovec 4 times this year, this might have to be one of those 4 games if we get that much of a lead. Book in the 3rd and Jurkovec in the 4th

IMO if they have an opportunity to get Jurkovec a couple of drives, they should do it. Looking ahead at our schedule, I doubt they'll have many chances to do so.

Lots of tickets still available for this game. I'm guessing you are going to have to get under $300 for the set before anyone will even think about it.

Ball State has a big jump going from playing an FCS team to playing #8 ND in ND stadium. Even with that, 33.5 pt spread is no joke. I joked around here that ND would probably beat scUM and then lose to testicle tech.

I was super looking forward to this one, I love these games, but turns out my daughter wants to go to Disneyland for her birthday so I’ll have to DVR it and watch it later in the week.

If Notre Dame had lost to Michigan, I think this game would be a 50 point blood bath. Since Notre Dame beat Michigan, I think this could be a 42-14 kinda game. I'm not touching that line.

Ball State is famous for David Letterman, but their greatest contribution is the best college t-shirt ever made.

I don't know. BSU was 2-10 in the MAC last year...this has a 49-10 feeling to me.

A couple of the big national analysts are touting Ball State as one of the most improved teams in the country this year. Not sure how they come to that conclusion already, but this isn't the basement-dweller Ball State that we might expect, apparently.

That doesn't mean ND shouldn't handle them, though.

Apparently they had a ridiculous amount of injuries with many to key players so they are improved just by getting their best players healthy again and the experience the backups got when they were forced into action last year.

Man ball in the trenches. Only thing that keeps the score down is our run game eating clock.

This feels like the game when we give up a kick return or scoop-and-score inexplicably late. We dominate, but the final score will allow haters who didn't watch the game to chirp.

Ball State's motto is "chirp, chirp" so let's hope there is zero "chirping" from anyone.

I'm a BSU alum. I hope they lose 60-0. Love thee Notre Dame through and through.

My only goal for this game: See Phil Jurkovec in the 2nd half, the earlier the better, which would imply we are destroying a lesser opponent. Plus I want him to carve up a D1 defense in his first game and put all of you "he throws weird" boo birds to bed.

Then I get to take my happy lil Irish ass on a road trip for the Vandy game next weekend :)

"Worrisome": BSU has a VERY good quarterback. He just might move the football a little bit.

"Terrorizing": BSU is still influenced by the legacy of Brady Hoke.
(comment deliberately phrased to create utter confusion.)

So it's Elliot over Coleman at the strong safety position. I don't think this is simply a result of Crawford's injury.

EDIT: Because if it was just about your needs at nickel I think Coleman would be the SS starter on paper just to get him his due.

As good as the Ball St team is reputed to be.....I doubt any of their starters, including their NFL QB, would make the two deep for the irish.

If we see Phil it'd because we're up big, which means you won't see him throwing much.

I understand not wanting to get players injured, but....

ONE live kick-off in ALL of practice? How do you even rate return men with that sample?

That's tragic imo.

I wonder if it was a gamble due to the rule change (fair catch ball goes to 25). I do think kick returns will decrease a lot in frequency.

Debatable.

What's the point of playing him, so he can learn how to hand the ball off properly? He will certainly get a chance to sling it a little bit if they put him in there.

They won't air it out, but they'll allow him to get some looks at a collegiate defense, IMO
