One of the things that our Debbie Downers keeps forgetting is that this is a totally different game from the previous two games. I don't disagree that UGA is more talented, but each game takes on a life of its own.

1. Do you think the concentration level is the same this week as it was for UoL or NM?
2. Do you think the O-line is satisfied with their performance against NM?
3. Do you think the O-line is tired of hearing how great the UGA defense is?
4. Do you think the attention to detail in practice has went up this week?
5. Do you think the team is tired of hearing from everyone that they will suffer a beat down?
6. Do you think BK learned from the Miami game and made changes?
7. Do you think this team has any pride? (I left that one wide open for you jokesters)
8. Did you think it was over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

We may or may not win, but we will be competitive.
Wait, the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?? This is news to me.

There was a post in another thread that said Missouri would give Georgia a tougher game.

Not saying Missouri is better than ND, but Missouri will end up being pretty decent this year. Kelly Bryant will be good at QB, and they have 2 good RBs. Roundtree and Badie are a nice 1-2 punch. They'll get better as the year goes on.

Found the following gem in today's TRASH TALK thread on /r/cfb:

One of the most famous generals of the Civil War was intimately connected to Notre Dame. Union Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman sent his children to Notre Dame and St. Mary’s during the war, while his wife Ellen lived in South Bend. The Shermans’ oldest son, nine-year old Willy, was enrolled in the Minim department but took ill visiting his father at camp after the Battle of Vicksburg. He died of “camp fever” in October 1863. Tragically, the Shermans buried another son, 10-month old Charley, at Cedar Grove Cemetery on campus the following year. Fr. Sorin performed the rites of infant burial. (The casket was later exhumed and moved to the family plot in St. Louis.)

Both Gen. Sherman and Ellen played key roles in providing an exemption from the Conscription Act of 1863 for Holy Cross brothers. Months after the war’s end, the general returned to South Bend to gather his family. He attended commencement exercises on June 7, 1865, and gave a largely extemporaneous commencement address in which he advised the graduates, “Life is only another kind of battle and it requires as good a generalship to conduct it to a successful end as it did to conquer a city, or to march through Georgia.“

At this point I'm not even sure why the team is traveling to Athens to play this game. National media, UGA fans and ND fans all have this game being a blowout in favor of UGA. Notre Dame should just waive the white flag, not make the trip to Georgia and save themselves the embarrassment.

This is the dumbest of all takes.

"Welp, I don't even know why they're gonna bother playing the game since no one thinks they can win."

The reality is that Georgia is a more-complete football team right now. That's why more ND fans than usual seem down on the team's chances in the game.

Why is that connected in any way to the idea that ND should just give up?

I hope they go to Athens, fight like hell, get Fromm into 3rd-and-long situations, and then win the damn game.

I just don't think ND's running game, or run defense, will allow that to happen. But I hope to God I'm wrong.

There's been a lot of back-and-forth between the "Positive" and "Negative" folks this week about why some people should just go ahead and start believing in ND, while others should get their heads out of the sand and realize UGA is going to win.

I misread your post as another entry on the "negative people are bothering me" side, and so I took it as a serious complaint.

My bad.

If you don't pump sunshine out of your @$$, you must not be a true fan

In all seriousness, can't wait to see the game. Good or bad, there's going to be good food and a lot of beer.

No worries. It's hard to tell if a post is serious or joking or if the poster is just being an asshole.

The one thing I would like from this game is for Notre Dame to come out playing free. Not nervous and tight like the Miami game, USC 2018 and the playoff game. Just let it all loose and balls to the wall.

this is definitely a key thing for me...you have the first series scripted so i don't want false starts, delay of game, buring a time out within our first possession etc....when we weren't supposed to beat oklahoma, fsu on the road etc we played up for the game and didn't act like the game was too big...other times it's like piss is coming down some of the players legs, deer in headlight look and then i have to hear the announcers just harp on how we aren't ready and bring up bcs blow outs, 2012 national champ game, clemson etc

I just feel like the people that are counting us out (Georgia fans, ND fans, the media, Vegas, Brian Kelly, others who have viewed a football game in their lifetime, and everyone else besides Lou Holtz) are forgetting one thing..... we have Kyle Hamilton and Georgia does not have Kyle Hamilton. Not sure what else you all need to hear.

This would be the worst part of getting blown out and also the reason I'm not too depressed about missing the game due to travel.

That thread from SEC Rant posted earlier was full of pretty clear-eyed Dawg fans. Based on my limited interaction with their fanbase, I don't expect Michigan-level delusion from them if they lose.
In the increasingly unlikely chance that we win, you can guarantee that Georgia, with the rest of the SEC fan base and media agreeing, will be pushing some excuse as to why the ND game didn’t count and they should still be in the playoff hunt. They might be more clear-eyed than most, but they also have unwarranted confidence in their team every single season despite what the results show on the field.

Honestly, I miss Dex and Coney. If we had those two back, I would feel more confident. Other players also, but these two especially. We lost some major experience in key spots.

Go read that thread I linked. Those Dawg fans at least understand it's Saban standing between them and a title, not media bias toward ND. If we manage to win: (1) Dawg fans will just double down on the importance of beating 'Bama; and (2) even Paaaaawl Finebaum will have to give us credit.

UGA has several stud DBs. 2 have a good chance of ending up all SEC.

I won’t be surprised if Vandy’s offensive numbers end up better to the eye than ND’s. It’s not b/c ND isn’t better than Vandy...they are. It’s the challenge ND faces in that, even as a prohibitive underdog; they get everyone’s best game so UGA will be running on all cylinders against ND vs their opener at Vandy when they knew there would be no one watching nationally & they could win with their 2nd team.

I think ND will find ways to move the ball. Whether that equates to TD's is the question.

"You are on this board, but we do not grant you the rank of memer."

This is how good posters end up killing younglings.
Au contraire, Whiskey has me intrigued. Can I buy my way into this “meme tier”? Is that what all of these V-bucks are intended to be used for?
