Jarron is better than Day? Maybe at the DT position. I think Sheldon was more natural as a 3-4 DE, who knows though. Day was probably more consistent (Even though he also had injury issues), Jarron can be up and down with effort. I'm not slighting Jarron here, I'm just not willing to say Day wasn't as good.

I guess if I could take Day's 2015 against whatever Jones would be this year, I would since I know Day is always playing hard and was healthy (mostly). But Jones is a more talented player and I think that's obvious, it's all a matter of health and bringing it. If he's healthy he'll get drafted much sooner than Day, I'll just put it that way.

I've decided I'm going to pay way too much money and try to get into this thing. Any ideas other than stubhub? We're tickets available on game day last year?

Austin is a great place, and the long weekend should entice the Irish Nation to descend upon Austin and enjoy a great city, UT foortball scene, and opening of the 2016 season for ND. The campus and stadium are basically in downtown. Last time Irish visited with Lou and Powlus, Irish fans were o'plenty on Friday night on 6th Street.

100 days till college football begins...a few more than that for those of us wanting to see the Irish beat the Longhorns.

They'll be quiet again when Adams breaks off a 65 yard touchdown in their ass

Texas feeling confidant: We will beat Notre Dame

Outside of the OP, damn near every reply in that thread is their fans laughing at the notion of them winning. Kinda shocking really, as there's usually always a fanboy segment in every fanbase. Not here though, they almost unilaterally think we'll smash. Some hilariously expressed as well.

I think we'll give up some yards, but I also think our OL will mow them over and we'll have two RBs with over a hundred yards each. I look for a 40ish vs 20ish kind of game with the Irish in control from the 2Q on.

Haha I liked

"Put me down as a definite maybe."

i like this gem

By my count ND only returns 5 starters on offense and 5 starters on defense. They lose a lot.
Yeah but we return most of our coaching staff and starters, so it is pretty much a wash.

Yeah, some of the more recent responses are more positive that they stand a chance, but overall they're not confidant, especially in the beginning of the thread. The Shag is somewhat self aware. They have some homers, but they're well aware they haven't been good since Vince and Colt left. They like a lot of self deprecating humor. Some of the best threads are "Describe the past season in a .gif." The MS Paint stuff tends to be creative too, although heavy on the MS Paint penises.

I am worried about Texas. They have many talented players and their team will look completely different, as will ours.

Fuller bailed us out and opened up the field for everyone else. Expect Texas to load the box and force Kizer to beat them. If they are able to neutralize the ground game, it'll be a battle into the 4th.

Our defense is such a question mark, I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas put up big numbers on us. I just can't buy into any preseason rankings until I've watched 3-4 games.

Let's hope DBoys are ready and the offense is ready to fly.

Texas isn't suppose to have a stellar offense. Their D is supposedly their strength coming into the season.

They still don't have a servicable QB

They have a new offense/coaches that they've brought in, so they will have the advantage of surprise. Pundits say it takes time for a team to learn a new offense, but traditionally teams often find early success in these new systems because opponents don't have sufficient film or haven't found a way to defend against it yet. That said, they do still have problems at QB. The frosh that played in their Spring game was impressive, but it would be asking a lot of him to start in a game like this. Then again, the other options aren't superb either. There's also the fact that BVG's defenses have traditionally done better earlier in the season...before the injuries hit.

Jealous.

Since it's bumped, how is this team so bad? Or are they so bad? Go through their class from 2013 to 2015. They're loaded.

Terrible terrible quarterback play. I think Coach Strong was really counting on David Ash being able to play for his first year, and Swoopes was terribad every time I saw him play in 2014. He was significantly better last year, but still not good. Also, I can't remember how many, but they lost a ton of players before Coach Strong's first game. He's certainly restocking the cupboard, but he's got a while to go. I like the guy, but I'm not sure if he'll make it past this year.

What is unfortunate for Strong is he is trying to change the culture there as well. A lot of those players they lost, he got rid of for being cancerous to the team. Strong also wanted to set a standard for the program, which left players upset about the change in status quo. I feel that Strong is a good coach for the program, and could be successful. I just wonder if the fan base will be patient enough.

I didn't watch the Texas-OU game last year, but was that Texas playing well of OU playing like garbage? I also thought someone said that Texas lost some players on the DL due to graduation or nfl leaving Texas with a very young defense all around.

Texas played out of their skins and ran all over them for like 300+ yards . Baker Mayfield shit the bed also so that helped

Thanks. I personally think beating OU last year is a huge reason as to why Coach Strong still has a job.
