If only he wanted to hit swoopes in the backfield in 2ot instead of exploding into the backfield and waving :(

Multiple times he did a really good job of getting upfield, he just wasn't able to do anything with that. Part of the reason I wouldn't abandon ship, the athleticism is there, he just might need some more actual football reps.

However, I also wonder if there is too much being placed on getting upfield and shooting gaps that its causing this type of play. Is he being told to shoot his gap, and when he does, he's already passed the play? Would we be better off examining if he'd be better suited, and the DL as a whole, playing different techniques?

Just thinking out loud.

Just checked the depth Chart for week 3 on 247...and Coney is listed as the starter at WLB. I too like this...a lot. Trumbetti is still the starter at WDE but both Hayes' listed as back-ups

I am very excited about this. Coney's ceiling looks pretty darn high.

Literally the word Flail comes to mind (such a weird word, lol), most times I watch him try and make a football move, like a tackle. He's in position because he is such a gifted athlete but doesn't seem to want to actually hit folks.

Not going to make this call yet as he's just a sophomore and another year in the weight room, gaining confidence might help. However, it has crossed my mind that he might've been better off at OT.
I'd like to go heavy in the middle this week with Cage-Jones starting side by side. Heck I'd like that every week.

Bull. Young alumni don't have mortgages or children. They can afford it. I'm a member of an alumni giving society and the cost of the ticket is a minuscule part of the cost of attending a Notre Dame game. The cost of actually getting to and staying in South Bend for a game weekend is much more cost-prohibitive.

Also, it's not $150 per game. It's $150 for THIS game, a game that is nowhere near in jeopardy of not being sold out. If you're a bargain hunter, go to the $75 game.

I elaborated to specify young alumni in grad/med/law school. Not everyone aims to sell their soul to the mouse in search of immediate comfortable banality. You really don't think it's a dumb strategy to alienate young alums who eventually become the highest earners, but go through several years of near poverty to get there?

I don't have a problem with it if it reduces the opposing team taking over the stadium and scalpers holding down all the mid field season tickets. Lunacy is charging the same for upper endzone seats as you do for lower bowl sidelines. I would pay $150 for pretty much any game to be between the 20s, more than that for good ones. Paying $150 for upper corners to Miami is just this side of insulting. As it stands now, I'm probably taking my 12 year old to Miami while the wife roams campus or heads back to the hotel unless I stumble on some super cheap tickets. Even at face I'm not paying $450 for the wife to sit apart from me and tend to two of our children, that money is better spent at the bookstore. Kind of sucks because my wife is a SMC chick and hasn't been to a game forever. Now if the University was smart they would come up with a "Kids Club" to babysit during the games. I'd spend $50/head to dump my 9 and 4 year old off for five hours while the rest of us hit the game.

Then only a handful of crappy games even give you the option of having more than 2 together. Like you say - bring the family but good luck sitting together without being connected to a season ticket holder, big donor or scalper.

What our club did with their (pitiful) NC State allotment was a bit frustrating too. "Lottery" winners got to commit over $400 for a pair - no clue where they are located but suspect nose bleeders. $85 face value marked up that much - but they throw in tailgate, pep rally stuff that can't attend. So I end up paying double the actual market value of the tickets and they act like they are doing me a favor. Like you say - not a great way to build community.

The alumni are pushing the ticket office to provide tickets at less than face to the clubs. For many clubs, this is their only way to raise money and provide sponsorship for SSLP students, masses, and events like the student sendoff. It's a key piece of how many clubs function. But I can assure you, they don't like pricing people out and for obvious reasons, this makes moving the tickets harder. The university needs to decide to what degree football is a pure moneymaker vs a way to further the mission of the university. Many clubs are considering not applying for tickets next year because they're on the brink of losing money with the price increases, and the university makes them order before prices and game times are set.

Top-row corner is awesome.

Never had top-row middle, but I'm sure that's even better. I love getting a view of the entire field as each play unfolds. It's like watching the entire game via coach cam.

Also, when I had top-row corner, it was Air Force in 2011. Stealth bomber flew over. Felt like I could reach up and touch it. One of the coolest (and most awe-inspiring) things ever.

Ha, I was at that game too. A buddy, now a Captain in the Army, got ejected from that game after my brother poured one too many drinks for him. He got the boot before the first series ended, he basically got to see the fly over and then was out of there! I think it stands to this day as the quickest ejection in stadium history. I also received an awesome letter from the University about the incident since I bought my buddy's ticket. Should have framed it.

Haha, my roommate and I decided it'd be a great idea to shotgun a beer in the student section before the game started in '06. After the deed was done, I used the restroom and returned to no roommate. The game hadn't even started and he had been ejected ! I got some words from my roomies Dad in crossing about being a bad influence on him, so that was fun too.

Ok, your roommate wins the award for quickest ejection prior to kickoff

My buddy was just fortunate he opted not to wear his dress uniform that day...would have been a big no-no to get ejected for being drunk in uniform. He wore an Army sweatshirt and camos instead. Had puke running down his sweatshirt and pants. Ended up taking off the sweatshirt and tried cleaning it in a sink in the Joyce during the game. Cop came in and saw what was going on, saw he was incredibly wasted, but said "You're good, we've all been there, I've got your back," then watched the door while he cleaned up. That was the story anyway, I was in the game at the time. My brother took the fall and left with him since he felt responsible for pouring the drinks.

Did the university up the face value this year? I thought i remember them being about 80 at face value. Although unless you know alumni its damn near impossible to get them for face once the university opens them up for sale. Is there any trick to getting them when they go on sale, like does anyone know if you just have to sit on the screen and keep refreshing once theyre open to be able to get some? Its robbery going onto stub hub and paying 160 for nosebleeds

Whatever you do, once you get access on the site to some seats, take what you get if you're absolutely sure you want to go to the game. The first time I tried to buy tickets I wasn't thrilled with the location and ended up refreshing (Thinking the next spot wouldn't be much worse, if any). It got much worse. Granted, there's not a bad seat in the whole place really, but I prefer to be anywhere but the end zone for a game. Scores can be exciting, but in a low scoring game you don't get much.

To be honest though, anytime I've bought tickets on the site it's almost always endzone or corner seats, and usually upper bowl. They never have seats between midfield and the 20, or if they do they go quick for obvious reasons. If you want the best seats for your own viewing pleasure/preference you're better off spending the extra cash on the second hand market or getting lucky with a scalper.

My ticket says $150 on it. Section 132.

Tickets used to be roughly the same price regardless of opponent. In recent years, there have been major price increases for the "premium" games. I think Nevada tickets were $75 face.

Duke was $85, Stanford $125 (I think), Miami and MSU $150

Quite a few on Stubhub slightly under face (all in) now and can get pretty good seats for under $200. That loss to Texas probably took quite a bit of wind out the scalper sails.

The team just started doing night games again. I'm sure night games were part of their plan to mark up those games, so I don't think people should feel like they're all of a sudden getting greedy, they're just offering a product they hadn't been for 22 years.

I think the MSU price is absurd. The demand is not there as tickets are available all over the place.

Does anyone know if we have the most expensive average face value ticket price in CFB?

Yes...just read that a few times a couple of weeks ago. I'm heading to the MSU game and will be looking to get/scalp three tickets off the locals with my two buddies. It's a crapshoot but we usually get decent seats.

Just looked up Miami prices - WTF - MSU should be a much better game than that and has a MSU fanbase nearby to provide demand? Makes no sense to me Miami prices are as high as they are.

Just for sh*ts and giggles, does anybody know how many rows there are in the upper bowl?

If I'm springing for nosebleeds in the corner, I want the top row. What row would that be?

Wow, never seen them done that way before. I like the change.

If I didn't have a bachelor party on Saturday, I'd be all over the two top-row in 112.
