Wilbon on PTI just defiantly snarled that Virginia will win Saturday. Cancel the trip boys....

Context? What else did he have to say?

(Talking about Texas)

Wilbon: And then they lost to a Notre Dame team, which everyone is now saying "I got them in my final four," well, Notre Dame is getting beat Saturday in Charlottesville by Virginia, you heard it here first!!! Ok, the last time Notre Dame played in that stadium, Northwestern kicked their butts....

*No idea what he meant by the last line. Did ND play NW in Virginia a long time ago? Or did he mean last year, which makes NO sense.

Who seriously listens to/respects this guys opinion or the job that he does on his own show anymore? Talk about the definition of a blowhard. He is seriously on par with Skip Bayless as one of the worst talking heads at ESPN.

Yeah, the worst part about losing to Northwestern last year (thanks for the awesome play calling, BK) was knowing that idiot NW broadcasters would have free license to run their mouths.

No doubt. I mean, the guy went out of his way to call Magic Johnson "Earvin" when no one else did. I can't stand that he's from Chicago.

Deadspin said it best. I'd link it here but the title already drops an F-Bomb. Trust me, just google it.

I went to the UCLA v Virginia game last week.

I dont know names, but here is what I remember about Virginia from the game:

-best athlete was #9 (had a few wildcat plays...didn't do much however)
-best receiver was #14
-2nd best receiver was the TE (86, 80-something, cant remember the #)
-QB (#15) ran for some first downs on 3rd and long situations.
-Virginia ran a successful fake punt where the punter just ran it for the 1st down
-they could not run the ball up the middle against UCLA
-UCLA DLine played very well, but did not get ALOT of pressure (they got thru a few times).
-UCLA didnt run the ball particularly well during crunch time; however garbage time Soso Jamabo looked VERY GOOD against their tired starters.
-Virginia's punter kicked the s**t out of the ball (tight spirals, towering, accurate kicks)
-Virginia's drives seem to stall the closer they got to the red zone
-obviously, Rosen torched them. First play of the game was a 60yard bomb that the UCLA wr dropped - it was a sure TD.
-CavMan sucked on the road, he did nothing but stand around.

UCLA won 34-16, and the last Virginia TD was pure garbage time. I expect ND to beat them in similar fashion

ADDED: Rosen looked better than his stat-line, and his stat-line looked great. I would say the same thing about Malik; as awesome as his stats were Vs Texas, his command, poise, confidence was just as impressive.

So Rosen is the real deal then?

its one game...but he looked GREAT. his pocket presence, his fakes (to pull the safety off) was as good as I have seen. I hate to talk in such superlatives, but he was REALLY impressive......confident too. Much like Malik, I never saw him rattled, he always seemed like he knew what he wanted to do, and then did it with confidence.

Chris Falica "the bear" from College Gameday also called for a straight up win for UVA over ND.
Best Week 2 college football bets

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-11.5) at Virginia Cavaliers

Fallica: This seems like an obvious blowout scenario. Notre Dame couldn't be valued any higher after a dominant win versus Texas last week in which the Irish outgained the Longhorns 527-163. Couple that with Virginia's 18-point loss at UCLA, where true freshman Josh Rosen had a field day with the UVA defense. It should be another big day for Malik Zaire, no? Be careful. Notre Dame is just 5-12 ATS in its past 17 games as a double-digit favorite and lost outright to Northwestern the last time they were in this role.

Virginia was perfect ATS as a home dog last year and has covered each of the past five times it was a double-digit 'dog, including a near upset of UCLA last year. I know the Notre Dame defense looked great last week, but I wonder how much of that was due to a bad Texas offense. Injuries could also be a factor for the Irish. I'll put my faith in Jon Tenuta's defense and call for the upset.

I don't get it. Notre Dame played NorthWestern in Charlottesville and they kicked our butt?

Screw Wilbon I hope ND curb stomps UVA!

How did you know he was from Chicago? Couldn't be b/c he says it every 10 minutes to make it sound like he is from the hood...street cred.

That's a "best bets" article, not a "who I think will win" article. Virginia to win outright would pay 4 to 1. Lots of people understand point spreads but this is a moneyline bet.

Regarding the UVA/UCLA game: one thing about Josh Rosen's [magnificent] performance was that he had essentially a rocking chair OLine pocket to pass from all game. UVAs "rush" was non-existent. Also, UCLAs OLine blocked their DLine pretty consistently on running plays too --- the Mora gimmicks of putting the two DTs in the backfield as lead blocking were devastating to the point where it looked like the UVA defense quit late in the game.

The relevance of this for us is I'd suppose obvious. Our OLine should block their brains out on pass protection --- meditate on what that means for Fuller and company --- and our HBack sets should overpower in the short yardage run game.

On another issue: I didn't notice that much speed overall on the UVA team. It's hard for me to see their DBacks hanging with our receivers, nor their receivers beating our corners. Their TE was pretty good, so Max and Elijah need to be paying attention. With Joe's newfound ability to be in the passing lanes, their mid-field passing game should also be tough on them.

Other than being jacked up for Notre Dame at home, I don't see where any consistent success would come from, unless they have a breakout guy hidden undercover.

Kelly in his presser right now just said it was unfortunate that Showtime released the clip of Stanley turning down the captaincy. I haven't seen the show yet, can any one elaborate on this?

Showtime didn't, at least not in the first episode that covered captaincy.

Yeah. Literally just got done watching it. They just showed the players getting notified of the captaincy and that was it. Nothing on Ronnie Stanley. So, a little confused.
