There is a difference in not passing a physical/being out of shape and having a medical problem that will preclude a player from EVER playing again. I am not a huge fan of negative recruiting, but this should be an example to people who have both ND and Bama on their lists of what we have to offer over them. Do you really think this kid feels good about being thrown out? His twitter says no. Do you think he actually cares about the education of Alabama? Heck no! He will transfer, and be cleared to play. He just didn't hack it there, so Saban was a major douche nozzle to him. IF he doesn't go elsewhere and he EVER plays a down of football for Bama I think you could hear people crying foul and insisting upon investigations. This madness has got to stop. Kids are being abused.

I think you're off on your assessment. "He just didn't hack it there"? Who knows if he could hack it or not? He's an incoming freshman who failed his physical before ever participating in a single practice, not a player who'd been around a couple of years and didn't live up to expectations. Pretty sure Saban didn't get rid of a highly rated 4-star recruit before ever seeing him practice just to make room for an unheralded 3-star recruit. The rumor is that Paige has a serious heart murmur or uncontrolled diabetes and the medical staff felt playing would be too risky for him.

Tie me down. Better yet, muzzle me with a lifetime supply of aged single malt and fine, fine Cognac.

Nothing makes me giggle more, the Grammar Hammer/Sultan of Syntax, than a spelling error permanently "inked" on a Crimson Tide fan's arm!!!

As the Alabama Bag Man, shouldn't I be getting a little cut of that $51.8 mil? Just askin'

Ha! Like you don't get a cut already....30k becomes 25k, 50k becomes 40k, etc. I know how you bag men operate. Everybody gets a piece!

Maybe you should have went to work for Auburn. I bet their bag men get a higher commission.

I actually respect the hell out of a pitch like that. The pitches I don't respect are "South Carolina gives a better education than Notre Dame!" and the like. Show your cards and let the kids pick... there is no denying that Saban is a great football coach who puts kids in the league.

Agreed. I also liked the promo material with all the NFL jerseys he sent out a few months ago. If you have unrivaled success in putting guys in the league, you'd be dumb not to play that card when recruiting.

There has to be a balance though. Wasn't there a mother of a recruit that was offended by all of Saban's NFL talk in her living room? As a recruiter, you have to know your audience and play the cards that give you the best chance to win.

I tried getting $200K in that bag but never could figure out how them Barners did it for ole Cecil Newton.

I know Caleb personally and have for several years. He should listen to the advice of the doctors and forego playing football anywhere. I wish him well but he is playing with his future health.

Sounds like there is actually a medical issue...knock me over with a feather. Thanks for setting us straight T Town. Do I dare ask what the medical condition is?

Has had back issues since arriving at Bama. Not saying Saban doesn't pull this from time to time because I think he does but this time it is legit. The caoch at Jax State used to be the HC at Caleb's high school but Caleb never played under him as he was gone to S. Alabama as their DC when Caleb played. I hope it works out for him. And Jax State is willing to take a risk I don't think Bama is.

Well then I jumped the gun, not trying to make fun at a serious medical issue; I was eager to bash the culture of oversigning.
