I find it ironic that the argument against the players showing up in a club has morphed into one of "public perception" because this is a "national story." Meaningfully defined, the public (outside of a few people in South Bend, IN) wouldn't even know about the players being in a bar but for a few ND fans/insiders trumpeting the information on the Internet (e.g., this site), and then complaining that the information they just blasted is going to make ND look bad. I guess you'd say that the players were irresponsible in not accounting for people like you, too.
