University Code of Honor Committee // Undergraduate Academic Code of Honor // University of Notre Dame

-If the student admits that a violation took place, the instructor and student can try to settle the matter by completing an Honor Code Violation Report.

-If either the student or instructor is unwilling to sign an Honor Code Violation Report, and yet the instructor still suspects that a violation has occurred, then the matter must be referred to the relevant Honesty Committee for a potential hearing.

Thx! (Says volumes.)

I just talked to someone who said students have to be back for a committee to make a decision. From what he understands of the du Lac procedure, the University can have the whole thing wrapped up, but until the council reviews it, nothing more can be done.

I agree. I think this has been said multiple times in here and makes total sense. Little will be resolved until they get back.

I will go out on a limb.

Some have speculated why the investigation started on 29Jul, and the players identified weren't questioned about it until the 15Aug, almost two and a half weeks later.

On the evening of the 14th, rumors erupted on campus and among alumni; on the 15th mid morning the media went full gonzo. At 6:00PM, Fr. Jenkins acted uncomfortable, and Jack Swarbrick acted irritated in their press conference. They stated that the NCAA had been notified that morning. That led the more intelligent observers to note that the THURS EVE leaks were from an inside ND source, and the FRIDAY AM leaks were from inside the NCAA to the media.

The next day Philip Daniels started poo-pooing the whole thing.

But nothing has happened since.

From everything else anyone else has heard this thing may in fact be wrapped up and waiting for the Honesty Committee to decide the outcome, (See Wizards wonderfully informative post # 2138), which would mean someone, probably a faculty member, is insisting on the continuing with the charges, and someone, presumably all four named football players, are protesting the validity of the charges.

Now if this had been a sex for papers scam as originally reported, or as widespread as originally reported, and the charges had any legs there would have been a constant stream of rumors. But, nada.

As the smartest among us speculated, this is probably "Much Ado About Nothing."

Or MAAN, I didn't do anything!

But who knows. The whole cheating ring was set up by KGB cold war operatives, that first infiltrated our Universities to destabilize our whole educational system. You can tell these operatives because they all are 70 year old freshmen, with no Russian accent, whatsoever!

FWIW, from our brother from another motha, Chiro:

"Heard some more stuff about who would be starting but at this point, I don't want to stick my neck out! Lol."

Not sure what to make of it. Yes, his source was wrong (at least about them being cleared Monday). But that site is still sticking up for him, so this guy must be solid. Not sure what it means, but he posted it in the same 'breaking news thread' so wanted to share.

He is a pretty solid poster. Not someone who brings bullshit just to get attention. His source was wrong about Monday, but there have been others echoing his sentiment as well. There is definitely someone from inside the program whispering good-sweet-nothings into people's ears.

I believe it. No one would be sticking up for him at this point if he wasn't. I'll try to keep an eye on his explanation if he provides one. That sentence didn't make sense to me.

Just heard from an inside source, that the investigation seems to be on-going.

No other information at this time.
