Nelson would be my guess. He is on watch for me.

Pretty safe bet. The only other one I could think of would be Bars.

Starks is possible, I guess, but a super long shot to commit this early.

What thread was that in STL?

I know we did a great job over the weekend with Starks but I have to go Nelson. Get the third Olineman in and then we can wait on Smith.

He's a bigger tease than the girl sitting in front of you that constantly leans forward so her thong shows.

Well the man has the best connections that posts on any Irish message board, he is on the staff some how or somebody. He is a tease but hes the reason I pay for II

If we could only take one, would you rather have Nelson or Bars?

Close for me. Bars is a better OT right now, and is a legacy, but I really like Nelson's athleticism and upside (and the fact he is from Jersey). I'd take either and be extremely happy.

I was thinking Nelson because of his ability to move inside to Guard.

Ya lets say we get Bars and Nelson then say Braden Smith wanted to come in like Oct/November I doubt the staff would say no.

That's what I'm thinking, you just don't turn him away and it is great depth that you would be crazy to turn away especially the way attrition and recruiting has gone under this regime.

By the way congrats Mr. Mustipher, ND nation is very happy about this!

I, like GB, can't evaluate OL, but my two cents would be cast towards Bars. When you watch his tape, it's easy to see how strong and athletic he is. I honestly think (based on the little film I've seen) that he's the best OL I've seen.

EDIT: I didn't want to bump Quenton Nelson's thread, but if a mod wants to update his rankings these are them:

Updated rankings:

rivals: 4-star, 6.0 rating, #66 nationally, #8 OT,
scout: 4-star, #8 OT,
247: 4-star, 90 rating, #18 OT,
247 composite: 4-star, .9469, #107 national, #9 OT.

If we get Nelson, paired with Mustipher, that's two unanimous 4-star OL. Would be a great pick up.

Edit part 2: If a mod would like to update Mustipher's rankings, I added them on his page...

Absolute joke Byrne isn't a 4 star on 247. Also Mustipher is only a 90 on 247 which is by far the lowest.

Mustipher's composite is .94+, which by all accounts, is probably the best indicator.

Offer list tells me everything I need to know.

247 trying to do the whole "where they will be drafted" thing really doesn't hold much water with me.

This staff REALLY knows football. FOUR Bigs already of the eight probable in this recruiting cycle. Plenty of opportunities for more success. If these guys can keep this up for a couple more years, we'll have re-established the Lineman U pipeline of the old Notre Dame teams.

Most of the foundation of conservative "just-beat-you" football is Power. Kelly knows how to recruit Power. ... and now he is recruiting speed successfully too. Good times a'comin'.

This is what I think. We'll go after 2 OTs but take Smith if he wants a spot.

If we could take Smith, Bars, Nelson, Byrne, and Mustipher that would be pretty darn sweet! I think Mustipher eventually could play center.

I agree with you. As far as I am concerned, good times are already here;).
