My point is that the Friday news conference left so many openings for conjecture and supposition. That conference call was not crafted well at all. Talk about a lawyer with a dry mouth. How many times did Swarbrick take a big gulp before he responded to a question? The entire nation is gleefully dragging a Notre Dame co-ed and four Irish football players up, down, and all around.

That's fine, I'm agreeing that they should have handled the conference better, but I think Jack was actually rather smooth during the conference while Jenkins probably could have used the sips of wine. Jack seemed less inclined to make any statement other than "There's an investigation, we're holding the guys out, that's it," while Jenkins seemed to stutter a lot and I think he's the one that first mentioned vacating wins. In any case, it doesn't really matter, the damage has been done. It would have been nice if it was handled internally to avoid a scene, but it sounds like it was going to get leaked regardless so it's better that they at least had the press conference.

ND has been chastised in the past for not getting out in front of stories. And rightfully so in most instances. Now, when they choose to try and get out front here, they are chastised for that. Point is this... no matter what any school does in relation to a "story", there will be those on both sides that are critical of it. Typically it is a no win either way.

Notre Dame senior edge rusher Ishaq Williams has been dismissed from Notre Dame due to his involvement with academic fraud, according to Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman.

"The investigation uncovered that the players had submitted papers and homework that were written for them by others." Maybe this is the source of the "three cleared" rumor?

EDIT: obviously the rumor pre-dates the article but if one player is dismissed then someone might have inferred the other three were "cleared" just because they haven't yet been subjected to additional punishment.

Wasn't the P.C. on the 15th, the only time Jenkins has spoken on this issue?

2. I think it's entirely appropriate for the University to maintain records for as long as someone is a student, so at least four years.

What I meant was could Ishaq sue the rotoworld for defamation. Could Notre dame sue rotoworld for defamation if what they stated is false.

I think he was referring to the IRS being unable to retrieve subpoenaed emails due to a hard ware glitch...

I am pretty sure that this is a recycled article that they just re-posted as of today. So we should not let these kinds of statements get any legs. Feldman was wrong before, and this most recent link states nothing new.
