I think it's safe to say he is guaranteed to get drafted in the first round with his performance. He is my all-time favorite tight end to ever come through South Bend

As the Dolphins continue their elusive search for a high-impact stretch-the-field tight end, general manager Jeff Ireland keeps defending the maligned player he drafted; several intriguing veterans approach free agency; and Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti is making an impassioned plea for Miami to follow his advice on the issue. "There's one guy that can change this offense and that's Tyler Eifert," Buoniconti, a Notre Dame alum, said of the 6-6 Fighting Irish tight end and former receiver. "But I'm not sure the Dolphins have the vision to get him," Buoniconti said. ???If he stays healthy, he will re-write the tight end record books. He's that good. If the Dolphins had any sense of wanting to improve the team down the middle and open it up for other receivers, this is the guy. He's a gem. "I'm sure he doesn't fit the mold for the Dolphins. He's too good." Some draft analysts consider Miami's 12th pick high for Eifert, but Buoniconti said he's worthy of a top-10 selection. He's also an option if Miami trades down.

Eifert is also projected to go in the first round, but the 6-5 1/2, 256-pound tight end limited his Pro Day participation to just position drills after establishing himself as the top tight end prospect last month at the NFL Scouting Combine.

“@MoveTheSticks: In talking to multiple teams, the 3 positions with clarity at the top are CB, Safety & TE (Milliner, Vacarro and Eifert)”

A couple of bozos at NFL.com don't have either Eifert or manti is the first round.

walterfootball.com has him going to the bears at 20 in their latest mock draft

if they think a decent option at LB will fall to them in the 2nd round this may happen and it wouldn't make me upset at all

No offense to Tyler, but I hope the Bears don't take a TE in the first round. They need help in others areas, imo.

He's going to have a promising NFL career no question though.

I initially posted this in the NFL Combine thread:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>RT @<a href="https://twitter.com/bradbiggs">bradbiggs</a>: GM Phil Emery repeats No. 20 pick in 1st round is for sale. <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Bears">#Bears</a> looking to move down, add picks. <a href="http://t.co/Ahpiu6QIWU" title="http://trib.in/Zp3Nr3">trib.in/Zp3Nr3</a></p>— Matt Bowen (@MattBowen41) <a href="https://twitter.com/MattBowen41/status/324298428567928832">April 16, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Since Emery is shopping their 1st round pick, I wouldn't count on it.

probably is the best move to shop that pick b/c i think we can get quality at LB and OG later in the first round.

Ogletree or Brown would probably be available at LB in the early 2nd round. Plus Larry Worford from UK in the later half of the round would be a solid draft.

they're projecting brown to be a 2nd rounder now...if they think they can get him maybe trading back in the first with someone with a late first trying to trade up who maybe has an early 2nd i'd go for it.

if that makes sense :)

they do need a lot of help still on the O line and front 7 on defense, but if eifert is still available at 20 i'm sure cutler would love to add him to the mix as more of a receiving threat to compliment bennett

Y! SPORTS

There's a youtube video at the bottom showing him against Bama. He is obviously very good throughout, but I am really impressed with the way Golson handled a lot of that pressure. As terrible as the loss was, I think this may have been the best thing to happen to Golson.

I'm hearing that Eifert is a hot commodity...As you know when you get closer to draft day you hear about late risers. What I've been hearing is at worse Eifert will go #17 to Pittsburgh. Cleveland could trade down to the 11th spot with San Diego to draft Eifert and there is a very good chance the Dolphins take him at #12. There have even been some rumblings he could go in the back end of the top 10. GM's around the league believe he is the pro typical new era TE and fits perfectly in the modern NFL.

Wow, that high eh?

Cleveland (6), Buffalo (8), NY Jets (9), Tennessee (10), and Tampa Bay (13).

Each one of these teams in the Top 15 have a need at TE.

Miami (12) did sign Dustin Keller, but he's coming off an injury, and having two receiving tight ends can greatly benefit a young QB.

Recently, Tight End's really haven't gone in the Top 10, actually, besides Vernon Davis in '06 (6th), Kellen Winslow in '04 (6th), Rick Dudley in '96 (9th), Kyle Brady in '95 (9th), and Junior Miller in '80 (7th), no other TE has gone in the Top 10 since 1980.

If they feel Eifert is better than other players on their board when it's there time to pick, draft him, but don't over draft him simply to fill a need. It looks like the former is coming to fruition. A big CONGRATS goes to Eifert!

Not bad for a 3 star recruit. Who in their right mind would have ever suspected that he might get drafted higher than Teo? Good luck to him wherever he goes. He has wildly exceeded all expectations so I really can't see him disappointing any team that chooses him. Man, that would be sick to have played with a top 10 draft pick.
