Sadly not the actual Rudy but close enough to still be awesome! Found out today that at Wizard World St. Louis in April Sean Astin will be there and I can finally meet the guy who played in the movie where I got my nickname in high school. Most of my friends I hang out with regularly now arent football fans so they arent as excited about this news so I had to share with with my IE friends this spectacular news that has me pumped up for April! Anybody else have any opportunities to meet some interesting peeps coming up Id love share in some excitement right now!

Met him last year when he came to Holy Cross. Seemed like one of the good guys in Hollywood and seems really knowledgeable about politics(he was there promoting a candidate).

tell him hello from me. i worked with him on "24". and funny enough, the guy that was sean's stunt double on rudy is the stunt coordinator on a new show I'm on called "crisis". said that "rudy" is the hardest movie he's ever done as a stunt guy.

thought I would ask you guys this would it be bad if I had him sign an ND mini helmet? On one hand he the lead in a movie where ND is a huge part of it on the other hand he isnt actually the real rudy and didnt play or attend school at ND would that not be something I should do? Thought I would ask Irish fans because my nerd friends are telling me to have him sign LOTR stuff and not as big of a fan of him in LOTR than in Rudy.

I don't see an issue with it. I thought he did a great job. Fun fact, Sean Aston is a USC alum.

I met the real Rudy. At ND. It was kind of funny. My three youngest were just getting aware of ND, and things and we watched the movie. They loved it.

Then, shortly after, I went up to a game and he was there for a book signing. Things were busy and they had multiple signers set up, and more people were milling around looking than buying. I was the first one that got in the purchase line. I talked to his ND handler, a wonderful woman and explained what I was looking for.

He actually had the grace to sign a book for me listing each one of my kids names, all seven. He wasn't to sure about it, but it provided just the "Umpf," to get people buying his book and lined up. People told the story up and down the line. While at first he wasn't too sure, he ended up laughing and thinking it was great. He got tons of sales.

When I got home, I opened up the book with a bunch of my kids present and showed the each of their names. I told the younger ones that the real Rudy knew who they were. They bounced off things for about two days!

Hollywood Royalty. He has literally saved the world in over a dozen films, most notably:

Goonies (saved world from greaseballs)

Toy Soldiers (saved world from terrorists)

Memphis Belle (saved world from Hitler)

White Water Summer (saved world from Kevin Bacon)

Rudy (saved world by stopping Cold War in deleted scene)

Encino Man (saved world from Pauly Shore)

LOTR (saved world from orcs x3)

40 First Dates reflected his best acting, IMO.

Picture from saturday. He also signed a Rudy movie 8x10 and singed it "to Eli the real Rudy" after i told him the story of how I got the nickname. Really nice guy and one of the highlights of an already amazing weekend at Wizard World St. Louis!

Funny pic man. I'm trying to figure out who had the worst outfit on
between the two of you. Good job getting the ND hat in there.

Damn, I was gonna say, you should walk up to him and say "I loved your dad in Adam's Family and Briscoe County Jr."

What's wrong with a Green Lantern shirt? I look rather tame there compared to when I was dressed up as the joker earlier that day.

I found the real Rudy to be a bit of a spaz when I heard him talk on campus one time. Our rector was his roommate one semester and had him talk at the dorm. My take away was that he had a different roommate every semester. Didn't ruin the movie for me but definitely put a damper on it.

I recently learned that Sean Astin provides the voice talent for Special Agent Oso and Raphael in Nickelodeon's TMNT reboot. He's on TV way too frequently in my house.

Very cool! Lord of the Rings, Rudy, The Goonies! Some of my favorite films. Good to hear it was a great experience for you.
