FYI to the board...do not talk about money without expecting criticism from Wiz.
Wh...? I didn't criticize anyone. Whiskey posted the "lotteries are taxes on people who can't do math" comic. I merely said I didn't participate. I didn't say "boo" to those that did.

People love me, brajs. I'm the class clown and the prom queen and your mom's best friend all at once.

Why do I have a hard time believing that the Star Wars nerd, Disneyland fanatic, Tea Party spouting, tightwad of the office being the social butterfly? lol

Just giving you crap for your aggressive antics in this thread and in Koon's student loan thread from a couple days ago.

Yeah, The Walt Disney Company is totally a place where you look like a douche if you like Star Wars and Walt Disney World.

I've never been to Disneyland, but I'll be at Disney World starting tomorrow if you want to fly down to Orlando and say hi. We'll get lunch. You buy. I'll bring tap water.

You know that most adult males only go to Disney for their kids right?

Gambling is stupid too because the odds are never in your favor.

Despite that, the feeling you get when winning a ton of money in the casino makes it all worth it. It's hard to replicate that exact feeling you get from anything else.

Not all gambling is the same. I can enjoy playing Texas Hold'em and Black Jack because: (1) there's a significant element of skill involved; and (2) I know how to play those two games well enough that I'm not just throwing my money away. But I can't enjoy slot machines, roulette, or lotteries, because the enjoyment I derive from gaining a tiny chance to win big is drowned out by the knowledge that I just made a poor investment. But that's just me. I don't think the world would be a better place if everyone shared my risk tolerance.

Wizards, you've elicited a negative reaction because you're taunting the players for spending a little money on a dream (no matter how unlikely) of striking it rich. That's akin to taunting small children for believing in Santa Clause. I think there's plenty of room for criticizing the institution of state-run lotteries as a tax on the poor, just as I think there's plenty of room for criticizing the consumerist joke that St. Nicholas has become in the West. But that's a far cry from making fun of people for simply being human.

You know that Walt Disney World is the number one honeymoon destination in the world, right?

Whatever makes you feel better.

The last place I would want to do my post wedding bang-town is a Mickey Mouse themed room at a place specifically created for children...

At risk of sounding like a d*ck, but this stat bums me out.

Save the cliche trip for the family. Do something cool and unique, maybe a once-ever trip, for the honeymoon.

I'd have a bunch of fun, take good care of friends and family, give to charity , drop half into a no touch interest only account, and then feel entitled to say F*** you a lot.

Just saying

No you wouldn't. You'd put the lump sum into a joint venture with Warren Buffet and buy back Jeep from the Italians then build us lifted JK's on Fox long travels, 40's, Dana front and rear with a Cummins diesel and a six speed. You are great American YJ!

There's a difference between taunting and teasing. I was doing the latter... with my coworkers... who are my friends... and have far thicker skin than anyone here apparently. I merely relayed that story to you all.

Allow me to educate you.

That's the Disney resort we stayed. Hardly "Mickey Mouse themed."

That's Walt Disney, one of the most brilliant creative minds and capitalists the world has ever seen, calling you an idiot.

We did a two week honeymoon. One week at Disney then a seven night (not Disney) cruise.

This is good planning.

I also realize that there are many Disney superfans/employees/etc. that can think of no better way to celebrate a huge life milestone than at a place they love. I respect that.

Wiz, how did you trick that poor, unfortunate soul (Disney reference) into marrying you?

Also, I must admit that I'm surprised you stayed at that lovely hotel and not the Motel 6.

Wow. Honeymoon at Disney. Sounds like a Steve Carell movie. There's a... she rode It's a Small World over and over... joke in there somewhere.

I actually never would have done Disney for the honeymoon if I knew I was going to be working there. We got married right after graduation. By the time I got the job offer senior year, the Disney stuff was already bought and paid for. That's why we added the cruise as well.

Our favorite is Animal Kingdom Lodge. We go down tomorrow and we're staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins this time. Mom, dad, and my two sisters are tagging along so we went with two cabins.

I had a friend that would take annual vacations with his wife to Disney and I'd always make fun of him. Then, I made the Disney trip with the kids a few years ago and left there thinking I couldn't wait to get back without the kids. Not sure I'd pick it as my honeymoon destination, but definitely a trip worth taking with the lady.
